Greetings from a Skater and thanks for the update. I stopped filming 2 years ago when my X2 broke, but I want to buy the X4 to continue filming skating videos. If you ever come to Miami, let me know. We do group rides all over Miami Beach and make videos together.
I've had mine for a few months now and love it! I'm retired and vacation quite a bit and my main dynamic trio is the X4, Ace Pro and GO 3s, all these cover pretty much every angle and every environment I need.
I just had to buy new hockey skates, mine from the lates '90's finally fell apart almost the same as your blades. Thanks for the video, you've just convinced me to pick up the X4 again and start to use it, I absolutely loathed thinking about editing videos but this makes me think I can actually do it, haha.
Don't have X4 but have X3, love it...should I upgrade or X3 good enough? Mostly shoot paddle boarding, biking family, van camping stuff...will do Europe trip later on though so not sure if the extra resolution would be great..
as someone who uses Insta360 since the X1 to X4 owns all the line up from X to R/RS + all lenses, go1-2-3 and Leica RS, I know no one who uses this mode to edit by holding the record button for long videos. It has ever been pin points along the video, or the active track that has been around since X2-3, and I edit long videos 5-15 minutes faster using pin points compared to the active track ~ but yeah, the new Quick Mode is perfect. I always asked them to include this and finally is here, i have so many 8-12 minutes footage that I only want 10-40 seconds of mini clips.
The footage has such a cool effect on people that have never seen it. Every time I post a clip to Instagram, I always get someone asking me if there’s a small drone flying in front of me🤣
Really cool AI feature, but it's better to record short videos for it otherwise the app will just freeze/crash 😆I learnt it the hard way but at least I know it for my next adventures. Always good to see your videos David, your enthusiasm is always refreshing to see and hear! Take care.
do you use the lens guards? I find I get lots of flare but also worried about damaging the lenses if I don't put them on 🤔 I find I get much better footage without and my son already scratched the lens on holiday without much trouble (luckily within warranty). Do you have any concerns over flare out using the guards or do you just roll without?
Great video David. My main question is about audio…Are you just recording the sound individually on the DJI Mic and then adding that on top of the regular audio from the camera? I can see from the shadow that you don’t have the transmitter attached to the camera…
That's a lot of times what I do, but just sort of part of my workflow. I do the same with my large cameras so that I can mix ambient audio and lav audio in post. Sometimes lav audio sounds too good and you don't hear the city noise or beach noise around you
Just replaced my X2 with the X4, perfect timing because anything that helps the editing process is a bonus…great camera though despite the double editing to mix it with normal footage.
Okok! I got the x3 following you 🤟 still the editing part is complicated, now it seems waaaay easier. Question, will the new app work on my x3? Shall I move to the x4? Will we have a roller blade video? 🤣✌️🙏

I just gotvmy first action camera (360x4) i gotta figure this thing out. Can you combine several videos and make 1 video. Like take maybe 4 ai vids and put them all together as 1 vid. And if the ai didn't get something you wanted add it to the ai vid. know its a dumb question, but am totally new at this.

I’ve got 6.5 hours of a motorcycle ride through Wales on mine that I need to go through and pick which bits I want to keep and reframe into a 3-5 minute video 😅

Good video, but I'm not if you have a beginner instructional for both or either of the Insta360 X4 & the Insta360 Ace Pro? If you do that would be extremely helpful.
I've been into video since the 80's and all different cameras and settings, tapes and digital. Never bothered to understand 24 fps vs 30 fps vs any other, your best / easy explanation?
24fps looks like movies. 30 (and especially 60) looks like TV sports. The latter is better if you plan to move the camera a lot - or make quick pans, tilts etc.
with the X3 I wasn't really convinced by the image quality, now with the X4 I hardly ever use my GoPro anymore The only annoying thing is the shadow and the unnatural hand movement... I try to avoid this as much as possible when editing
I wonder if the video corrupted regarding the ai ... cuz that, overheating, fogging and a few other problems are common BUT hidden by insta360s marekting and spamming of positive comments everywhere. But how can deeptract save you time, if you still have to sit there watching the phone for the real time of the shot....??? Butt, i still think il get one for my upcoming holiday because theres no real other choice without payinf riddiculous money, Spose il buy it on credit card and if it shits itself il return it and seek a chargeback.
Well my X4 constantly corrupts randomly and I lose crucial video clips throughout the shoot. This camera is totally unreliable and it's a real shame that they put this camera out there. I got latest firmware, app, desktop studio, it doesn't matter, the files are 'corrupted' and 'removed from the list'
More than likely you’ve used an SD card not capable of handling the read/write speeds. You need something like a Samsung Pro Ultimate that will read at 200Mbs and write at 130Mbs. And make sure you buy from a reputable company or source - there’s a lot of fake cards out there brandishing big name logos.
Thanks David... The biggest take away was AI giving me back hours of life... For the non professional that is the best use of AI. It's crazy how fast AI is integrating into everything. Seems Insta 360 is leaving GoPro in the dust. You might be able to get those roller blades repaired.

I have the X 3 and I used to have the GoPro Max and come to the conclusion that I hate 360 videography. Maybe I need to give it a real chance but I have my X 3 on Marketplace with no intention replacing it with another 360 camera. Selling all the accessories too so if anyone here from the Ottawa, Canada area wants one…please let me know. However, “dope” video again.
Can you use AI mode to auto direct an entire clip and choose its own angles? (rather than pull out highlight clips). Let's just say you're lazy and want it to render the entire clip and see what it can come up with.
What nobody tells you is that you need a really high end PC from the last 2 years to get the Studio software to work. Otheriswise the software will run like dogshit. The app has its pros, but the exported quality isn't going to be as good as what you get on the computer.
Got one ordered and just waiting for it to arrive. Awesome tutorials bud. I can't wait to take this on our Bangkok trip. Cheers!

We're getting super close to the day where we can shoot 360 and just hand it over to AI for a completed video. This is a massive step towards that!
A 360 cam is the only piece of gear that is missing from my line up and this is another reason why I should get one. Awesome as always David!

Excellent demo! Would the 4k footage look better with an ND filter? If not, how do you avoid overexposure on a bright sunny day?

It’s so brutal! One of the worst feelings to hit stop on the camera and realize the audio track is completely flat🤣

The editing that is required in post processing for 360 video has always held me back. But I’m willing to A.I. editing a chance.
Is there a desktop app that you can do the editing on your computer and not your phone. That is what is stopping me from buying.

Could be your SD card?
More than likely you’ve used an SD card not capable of handling the read/write speeds.

I agree with the previous comments, sounds like an SD card issue. Have to use a fast card.
