    Thanks for this comparison. I have a BigSky and while I like the musicality of the Ensemble I think I can happily get by with my Boss SY1 into the BigSky for that big 'synth pad' thing. That said, I saw the Strymon Cloudburst demo vid and towards the end the player compared between strumming over the Neck & Bridge pick-up positions going in to the pedal and the clarity and tonal difference was astounding - this thing has powerful processing under the hood!

    Great comparison video. I Don’t have the Cloudburst (yet). I’ve used my BigSky+Timeline with a Boss SY200 synth pedal to get in this neighborhood, but still find the Cloudburst intriguing. So many possibilities!

      @@sandercliquet1007 I don't have the Cloudburst to compare to my BigSky but from what I'm hearing in demos the Ensemble mode on Couldburst seems very similar to the Bloom mode on the BigSky? Check out my video titled "Fauxchestra" on my YT channel and see what you think? The first minute is a boring flat dry synth sequence and then I turn the BigSky mix to 100% wet in Bloom mode and play with the modular's filter settings and turning the three voices on and off in the mix. The result sounds like a pretty decent "fake orchestra" to me!

    Sorry but the BigSky sounds much bigger and clearer, much more articulate to my ears, as if there is a blanket on top of CloudBurst pedal. Not sure if this is a problem with the CloudBurst pedal or its algorithms, but can be because of a difference in the impedance of the inputs of the two pedals, or maybe the tone needs to be set a bit higher on the CloudBurst. How are you switching back and forth between the two pedals? If there is a problem in the inputs, i think you have to re-do the video since it's not a fair comparison. Also, i would use a loooper to first record the riff, since slight changes would dramatically affect what these pedals do.

    • @docbobster
      @docbobster Год назад +1

      The cloud algorithm wasn't on the blue sky. But the blue sky has fine traditional algorithms (I especially like the plate). Still, Cloudburst at low decay rates does a good imitation of a room/hall reverb. Shimmer on the blue sky is more shrill than ensemble on cloudburst, although ensemble is over the top in a different way. (They are both ear candy at home but unusable in most band situations.) Cloudburst's mod is more versatile than the very muted mod on blue sky. I have them both, but frankly, I still have a special place in my heart for the Neunaber Immerse, which has a huge variety of sounds in a small package and is the only pedal I have that you cannot make sound bad even if you try. I also like the Specular Tempus because it covers a spectrum of delays as well as reverbs in a modest package. (I like small pedalboards.)

      Everything unique is expensive. If everyone played electronic music, it could be mass produced and be cheap like how microwave ovens and TVs are cheap. Would you want everyone playing music so the price can go down? Maybe that’s the solution

    Big sky is better its going to be pretty hard to beat it or the empress reverb

    I sold a Flint and a Big Sky, both completely overhyped both way too plastic DSP and fake to my ear. I replaced them with the dual engine Ventris, which has been my personal favorite for a few years. This Cloudburst may be the first Strymon that I actually like.

      I was almost thinking about selling my Ventris and getting the Cloudburst, I don't like having to hook my pedal up to something like a phone to dive into settings, I would miss the outboard spring on it though.

    The same old and commercially dishonest Strymon politics. They peddle old things as if they were new. Shame on you Strymon.

      Bigsky plugin $200. Overpriced.

      I tend to agree. Strymon’s ad for this suggested a whole new style of reverb was invented with vast uses, but it can obviously be nearly completely covered by the Big Sky which is now a 15 year old, expensive, out dated machine. Even so, the pricing at 5/8th of the Big Sky seems OTT, and that’s the big issue. If pedal size is not an issue, then the Big Sky is way better value despite being old and expensive.
      Otherwise, this pedal would be very tempting to me, but where I live it’s selling for almost $500…insane.
