White Army, Black Baron (English sub)

  • PLEASE READ
This is a first video of a two. I wanted to show you both sides of the Russia's Civil War. After you watch it make sure the check out "All is now against us" • All is now agains us (...
This song is one of the first official songs of the Red Army, written in 1920, in the time when victory was already visible, but bloody battles still raged in the East and South. This song also remained on of the most popular military songs till the break up of the Soviet Union.
The clip is not mine; I got it from Vladlena1917. It is made up from segments of Soviet cartoons, and when I saw it I just had to write subtitles.
Note the two headed eagle at the beginning. This symbol of Russian empire had always been a polar opposite of the Soviet Union, but if you watch my "New Dawn" video till the end, you'll see the same bird with a red star on its back. Try to figure out what it implies.

@@Vict0r1984 You mean Bukharinites? Bukharin was definitely not to the left of Stalin, "Right Opposition" after all. The "innocent Trotskyists" were also some of the most nefarious elements, Kamenev and Zinoviev were already exposed in Lenin's will as traitors and that their "October mistake" wasn't some coincidence nor isolated event... The trotskyists oppositionists always tried to split the party and grow a parasitic opposition from within, breaking every convention of a leninist party, Stalin on the other hand fought for what Lenin had built, for socialism in Russia as opposed to their stupidly ultra left idea of Permanent Revolution. In August 1927 Stalin was too mild and spoke in favour of not expulsion Trotsky and Zinoviev, later what did they do? The trotskyist oppositionists started an illegal printing press, the intellectuals in this press were in contact with whiteguards and other rotten elements, in the same year they gave the renegade Meslow in Berlin a bunch of confidential information and state secrets that shouldn't be available to the international bourgeosie, were Zinoviev and the other oppositionists supposed to be kept around when they clearly worked with undermining the dictatorship of the proletariat, stood counter against socialist construction and instead tried to split the party and form factionalism that were REPUDIATED by Lenin(in 1921 Lenin suggested the expulsion of Shlyapnikov bcs he DARED to criticise the decisions of the Supreme Council of National Economy and said that turning the party into a "discussing society" was impermissible). Lenin thought an opposition should never grow in a Leninist Party, I quote:
"Consolidation of the Party, prohibition of an opposition in the Party-such is the political conclusion to be drawn from the present situation. . . ." "We do not want an opposition now, comrades. And I think that the Party congress will have to draw this conclusion, to draw the conclusion that we must now put an end to the opposition, finish with it, we have had enough of oppositions now."
(Minutes of the Tenth Congress pages 61 and 63)
The trotskyists were counterrev opportunist rat oppositionists, those that walk in a capitalist road such as monsieur Zinoviev and monsieur Kamenev did deserve nothing short of a prison or execution, especially since they got the privilege of fair trials in 1936. Where's Stalin's "rudeness" now huh?

I read this was Krupskaya's favorite civil war song. Эта песня дает мне чувство гордости, которое россияне сделали в революции Красного. Они были авангардом для всего мира.
The old order was already guilty of so much death and suffering. The real people had to put an end to it. The Reds simply reflected this. The song says this. The White Army wants to put the tsar back on the throne. This was intolerable. Yet the White Army, financed by the British and Americans, made Holy Russia suffer a second war (the civil war) with all its killing and famine. Hate the rich and the privileged. Feel the pain and suffering they inflected selfishly on Russia. Then you will understand the pride and passion of this song.

True, i was born at the very end. An i will also grant that i am really oversimplifying it. However, from how i figure it, before the fall of the soviet union. The US was doing very good economically by comparison as the public was concerned. True we had recessions during the cold war, but the people had jobs and a lot more saved money during those times. An the economy always bounced back because it was in the rich's interest because they feared that communism would spread if they did not do anything an plus they wanted to show themselves as being better then the soviet union. But ever since the fall, an if you believe some other people during the later part of the cold war, the rich have been becoming more arrogant an greedy. To the point that they play with people's lives as if they were just things an not people. Saying stuff like oh america cost to much to hire. That shows laziness instead of trying to invent newer cheaper methods in a culture that demands more a more efficient methods of doing things. But instead they chose countries, like communist china which no more then 50 years ago wanted to invade our allies an who actually declared war on us 70 years ago. An who in some cases wants to throw its new found weight against on our allies. On top of that, a lot of rich companies have been practicing much more predatory tactics like credit cards, an questionable money loaning, and not to mention questionable insurance practices (which before i was born, insurance companies had trouble selling to the point they had to go to people's homes an knock on the doors just to ask to sell them products).

    • @thewingedhussar400
      @thewingedhussar400 10 лет назад +1

Angorbal Oh an if you also mean the fear of the complete destruction of the world, that fear still plays into motion, however since the fall of the soviet union. The ability of minor nations doing greater damage with nuclear weapons has gone up, especially with nuclear weapons in the old soviet blocs in central Asia.

IDK, this song just hits different in Russian. The translation is accurate but it doesn't hit the same emotional rawness of the Russian. Here's my own more visceral translation of what the song is saying, with some clarification /context (which I spent too long doing, but I've aways loved this song lol):
    -First verse-
    Belaya armiya, chyorny baron
    -White army, black baron
--The reactionary forces opposed to the Reds during the Russian civil war
    Snova gotovyat nam tsarsky tron,
-Again prepare to put us back under the Tsar's throne
--Tsar Nicky was the last person you wanted ruling over you. At one point, he was literally sending soldiers out into random villages on 'punitive expeditions' because people in the city were marching in the streets over his terrible leadership during World War I. He'd abdicated, but many Whites wanted to restore the monarchy. This line carries the same sentiment as "they again prepare to put us back into chains / slavery". After 1000 years, the Russians finally broke the yoke of the Tsar, but now it's coming back for round two.
No ot taygi do britanskikh morey
-But from the Taiga to the British sea
--From the Taiga to the English channel - this references the geographic area of all of Eurasia - Europe and Russian included.
    Krasnaya Armiya vsekh silney.
-Red Army is stronger than all
--For Russian listeners, the Red Army here sorta references not only the Red Army of the civil war, but also the modern Soviet/Russian military. The Red Army is OUR guys. They're here to stop the bad guys, and our guys can beat ANYBODY, in or out of Russia.
    -Chorus-
    Tak pust zhe Krasnaya
    -So let the Red
--This lands as an appeal. Like, "So let's let the Reds off the hook!"
    Szhimayet vlastno
    -Seize commandingly
--"Vlast" is power in the sense of authority and strength, like a king's power/authority over his land, or in this case, the army's power over war.
    Svoy shtik mozollistoy rukoy
    -Its bayonet with calloused hand
--The sense of the song so far is like, "The Whites are coming to put you back into chains, so let's let the Reds off the hook so they can beat the shit out of them!"
    E vsey dolzhny mui
    -And all obligated are we
--This isn't talking to the Red Army, it's talking to YOU.
    Neuderzhimo
    -Irresistibly
    Edti v posledniy smertnyy boi!
-To go into the final mortal battle!
    -Second verse-
    Krasnaya Armiya, marsh marsh vperod!
    -Red Army, march march forward!
    RevVoyenSoviet nas v boy zovot.
-The RevWarSoviet calls us to war.
-The RVS, RevVoenSoviet, or Revolutionary War Council, was the part of the Red government overseeing the war and Red Army. In the same way we use acronyms for stuff like the CIA, IRS, USN, and so on, Russians often do partly conglomerated words instead of acronyms. For example, the CIA would be rendered as the Cent-Int-Agency, or the IRS might be the Int-Rev-Service.
Ved' ot taygi do britanskikh morey
-Though as you know, from the Taiga to the British sea,
    Krasnaya Armiya vsekh silney!
-Red Army is stronger than all!
    Chorus again x2
    E vsey dolzhny mui
    -And all obligated are we
    Neuderzhimo
    -Irresistibly
    Edti v posledniy smertnyy boi
-To go into the final mortal battle
