I had one of those in the 70's! My hair was very dense, and also naturally curly, forming into ringlets. It would take hours to dry, so a bonnet dryer was the perfect solution. I could relax on my bed, read Ms magazine, or Cosmo, and my hair would be dry in 30-45 minutes, instead of 2+ hours. Love it, and thanks for the fun memory!
@@SewRenafrom a 7th generation couture seamstress I have to say your sewing is excellent and I love your vintage style. I still live like that. Still have a dryer like yours. Love your sewing room and house and everything you have shown in your videos. Most excellent. 😊
My gma, aunties & mom had these… they gathered weekly to do each others hair… sitting under the kitchen table listening to the gossip and giggles was soooo good!
My mother and my older sister each had one, so I recognized that case from the moment I first saw you with one. I used to watch them do their thing with their hair and makeup, talking all the while. Sure is nice, seeing them again, as they bring back a lot of wonderful memories!
My mom had the one with curler attachment when I was a child . She had when she was in the military in the 60’s. I purchased one about 30 years ago and it still works. I love it. It is so much better than the new ones.
I am 54 years old and I remember a lot of these accessories and not the styles necessarily because I was born in 1969 so I grew up in the 70s and 80s but my older female relatives still had a lot of these kinds of accessories! It's really cool seeing you introducing everybody two things that they didn't know about before!
Thank you so much 🥰🥰 I wish I had the other accessories. It would have been cool to compare the curling attachment to the modern air curler maybe I’ll search for it and do a video
Everything was so much classier back in the day. I don’t understand what went wrong 😩 I don’t like consumerism, but the practicality of these things plus the stylistic designs really make for something that this anti-material girl appreciate
In the 80's used one in high school for my art supplies, butI had a few vintage shoe bags that I carried for a purse. Everything old really is new again. And again. And again😂
I had an Admiral TV just like yours in the 70s! I inherited 2 hard bonnet hair dryers and a small pink portable one with a grate for drying nails. No case though. I don't remember if mom ever had one. Those are really cute.
I remember those! My mom used them, my sisters had them. Very useful item. You are pure class & love watching your posts! Takes me back to the days gone by. ❤
I remember my mom using one of these, and some of my friends used them for traveling because of the white noise (I think this was a trick of a Miss America, so she got decent sleep). I'm part of the electric curler team, but they never had such cute cases. You are rocking that cute short set! Gingham perfection again.
I have one but I don’t have the case. I got it on Craigslist years ago!! I paid I think $20 for it. I’ve had it for about 10 years now!! Works like a charm still!!!!!!! It’s super super super super old tho but man it works amazing!!!!!!!!! I’ll have to see if I can find the hard case for it now that I know it came with one. Edit: I don’t have one for a belt tho. Mine is not a belt accessory one. Mine is one you sit on the counter or the floor with. I usually sit it on the floor and watch my computer while I dry my hair. Usually I don’t use heat on my hair except when I’m doing oil/conditioner treatments on my hair.
I’m kinda jealous. Lol we went backwards because where are the hair dryers with the belts now?! I could get my housework done and dry my hair that would be so nice!😂❤
What, What!? I did receive a bonnet hairdryer from my mother in the late 80s, I lived in Canada at the time, and I used it to blow hot air into my bed before I climbed in sometimes while I was in it.
I have a vintage hairdryer that is metal and chrome with a wood handle on a stand. It blows hot air that can burn you if you aren't careful and it's super quiet and stylish looking. My mom remembers her mom having one like it in the 1950s.
Omg I love this! I have a little bonnet like that I hook up to my hair dryer, but it didn’t come in a lovely vintage case! I just love your style and your videos. Thanks for sharing with us gorgeous 💕
I honestly thought they were hat boxes! Now I know that is what they are for! Thanks so much. I have a teal one. It's like a plastic vynil or probably for easy cleaning. Now I know! Thanks again SewRena.
My Mom had one of those in tan/buff. I can smell the heater even now! It worked really well too. Gentle, indirect heat that left your hair fluffy. The cord was super long too!
❤ my mom had one in powder blue and I always hated sitting still under that thing! I was an adventure girl, with no time for fashion! 😅. But now, I want one! 🤣💖
I remember all the women in our family using these, my mom put hers on my head as a small child. When styles changed, my aunts used the hose to blow dry their hair.
I've never seen a belted version, that is so handy! my grandmother used hers on me when i was a tot and i hated sitting there while it worked (i was NOT a tv kid, i was always in a tree)
I recall my mother winning a 'hard top' hair dryer at bingo --- then some time later one of the more 'modern' bonnet style hair dryers. Crazy thing was neither she nor I used them so we gave them to a couple of the neighbors.
Thanks so much I bet the belts were the first things to get lost or end up in the trash because if I just saw one laying around I would not know it went to a dryer
Im sorry....the shock i had the moment i saw the belt around you...i have no idea why we dont have this kind of technology anymore!! Its honestly brilliant!!
Man the older gens honestly had really cool stuff, I’d totally use this!😲
There was so much innovation in the 50s and 60s all over.
I agree
Used the pink one at Grandma 's and a white one at home. Grandma's
was so gentle, I loved it. Odd,I don't recall throwing ours away.

I can only imagine. I don’t use mine for drying I use it for deep conditioning but it’s nice to have especially in the winter 🤣
Just want to say I love your name ❤
Ms magazine takes me wayyy back LoL

Wild. I remember seeing that portable hairdryer as a kid in the 80's. At some house my mom dragged me to !
😂😂
I had one of those!!! The one I had, also had a belt...hand dryer and attachments ❤...cute outfit as well😊
My barbie use to have a bag like the brown one when I was younger !!! And she definitely remind me of a barbie doll !
In the 80's used one in high school for my art supplies, butI had a few vintage shoe bags that I carried for a purse. Everything old really is new again. And again. And again😂
I had one of these!! But not the belt attachment one. Would have loved that! They should being them back.
So cute ❤
I loved those in the 1960s. I’m so glad I stumbled onto your channel. I’d love it.
I love that groovy pink, yellow, and daisy fabric! I saw some the other day, and may have to pick some up myself.
Thank you 🥰
My Mom had one back in the day, but the one with the belt and nail dryer is extra fancy.

Always a blast from the past!
Gosh I love her style so much! Such a chic lady! She obviously goes to a lot of effort but it’s well and truly worth it!
Bring the old things back! Like watching you so cheerful.
OMG my mother had one of those and I used it into high school in the 1980s

Thank you so much 🥰 I use electric curlers too but these come in handy for deep conditioning with heat.
Flash backs from younger years.Thanks.
Your little summer set is so cute on you. The yellow belt just makes it.
I remember coveting this as a kid. The belted-on dryer look is loony-fabulous.
My Granny had a set of luggage with a matching hat carrier. We also had a portable hair dryer with the hose and bonnet. Love your channel.

When things were still built in America, they lasted practically forever
My mum had one of those in the 70’s. Wow that takes me back.
Mine sold at my estate sale for $5. Worked. But cap had dried out. I had it 60 years!
My mom had one of these! I still remember the smell of the vinyl bonnet!❤
That is super cool. I wish I had something like this.
My first hair dryer was one of these. My Grandmother got it for me at an auction. I used that bad boy till the motor gave out.
You’re so cute! I was born in 1969 so all the 70’s stuff. I completely remember.
I would love one of these!!! Never have found any. So great
I’m kinda jealous. Lol we went backwards because where are the hair dryers with the belts now?! I could get my housework done and dry my hair that would be so nice!😂❤
Blow dryers are a PITA and way too harsh on my hair.
We had a new one in the 90s. They’re still out there.
@@lilbatz lol agreed about the PITA part 😂😂
@@shamelesshussy if i find one I’ll be happy lol. In the summer time I don’t need a dryer but winter time its a necessity!

I have one just like it. Bought at a garage sale. Very heavy.
I inherited one of these from my grandmother when I was little. I still have it today.❤
Had one until the 80s. They work so well!
You are adorable! Love your fashion
My father gave me one of these in the early 60s. Used it a lot.
I love your style, I love vintage clothing too. I remember getting my hair done under those
I love everything you do .
I grew up with one and most versions of them. As a child I first thought it was a hat box until I opened it. ☺️
Getting better every day
I need this for when my hair starts growing back. Setting my hair was so much fun!
I grew up with the bonnets and the one that stoop on the table.
No way!!. It's amazing,!.
It’s pretty cool I wish I had the attachment to air curl
The hair dryer is neat, but loving the raffia looking zip container!
I have that, we used it when I was a kid and it's still in fine condition
I remember these. My Grannie had one. I immediately was like that's not a handbag it a hair dryer!
My aunt loaned me hers and didn't come back for it. I still have it.
A staple to my Saturday nights. I can smell the odor of the tubing right now!
Hahahah that’s so funny I have two one has a smell the other doesn’t but I know exactly what you mean
I used our late 1960s bonnet hair dryer until I left home in 1981.
Aw. Nostalgic. My mama had one of these.
God your collection is impeccable

I have always wanted one of these!! ❤
I grew up using one of those in my house as a teenager.
Bro that’s so chic you with that on and the housecoat! Girl 🤩 made me feel like doing chores 😂
We used a bonnet hair dryer when I was a kid, in the early 70s! And it had a mail drying feature!
How did your mail get wet??😂

I'm officially old. I remember using one of these.

That is a very nice piece of engineering.

I have the GE version but it no longer has the belt. It used to belong to my mother. ❤

I LOVE those hair dryers... they dried my hair the best and my hair grew like crazy whenever i deep conditioned my hair with them.
I remember all the women in our family using these, my mom put hers on my head as a small child. When styles changed, my aunts used the hose to blow dry their hair.
I remember these 😊
I love your style ... love the nostalgia house and excessorirs and the clothes! I wish I lived in your neighborhood and be friends with you for real
I need one of those!!! 🥰
Whenever it rained outside id use my moms hair dryer you put over your head. Loved it, especially in the winter.
I've never seen a belted version, that is so handy! my grandmother used hers on me when i was a tot and i hated sitting there while it worked (i was NOT a tv kid, i was always in a tree)
