The explanation of changing the battery was simple, but you have to buy the battery before you can replace it you never mention what kind of battery the 2021 Mercedes uses in their key fobs?
Not sure why you had an issue after changing the battery on the key. If you press the lock button on the physical key twice, it will deactivate the keyless entry function. You will need to unlock the car with the key in order to reactivate the keyless entry function again. Not sure if this was the issue, but is a common thing that occurs. Hope this helps!
