- Harry Roy & His Orchestra (At the May Fair Hotel, London) - The Continental, Fox Trot from the Film "Gay Divorcee", Odeon 1935 (UK)
It's my new release with the British top sales recording of the year 1935, which I had also uploaded a few years ago. This version however - containing photoes of London made by such renowned artists as Wolfgang Suschinski or Billy Branddt or Wolfgang Suschitzky, looks much more interesting, I believe. See also my newest upload at Dailymotion: a hot Argentinian tango, played by Eduardo Bianco Orchestra www.dailymotion...
This song practically encapsulate the 1930's. It never fails to bring a smile to my face and lift my spirits. Elegant and sophisticated, yet a nice little toe tapper.
Not only a magical swinging sound but some lovely photo's of the period. Magical many thanks.
The Best Track.
Nice recording, much nicer as dear Harry refrains from singing! Recording date 13 November 1934.
El bello mundo de la bella gente.........
One of my favourite song! Thanks for sharing this British version
Lovely arrangement -- a little whimsy, it seems, thrown in with the romance. Maybe I'm reminded of English comedic character actor, Eric Blore -- so prominent in "The Gay Divorcee," as well as other Astaire-Rogers pairings. Grzegorz, seeing this delightful presentation, I am again thinking of how much I would have loved London of that time. ... Walking a cheetah @ 0:44 -- love it!
Hello Grzegorz - love this upload since Astaire and Ginger Rogers danced that piece - totally heavenly in one of my very favorite movies - "Gay Divorcee". The Tango you uploaded on Dailymotion - sounds and looks super good - thanks a million! Have a great weekend - thousands of Tango hugs for you - from me and my Chicago friends!!!
Dear Grzegorz, I really love your videos because they're packed with detailed old images but the top hats the two young men are wearing are no Opera Hats because they are not collapsible plus Opera Hats are covered with silk to match the lapels of the dinner suits or the tails. An Opera Hat is a evening's hat and not a day's hat which these are. Best regards, Henry de Winter
nice presentation !!thanks
Awesome

The UK at its un-stuffiest, if I might coin a word. Love those daffy fabrics@1:42 or so. And that pet leopard-cat on a leash a few frames earlier. Chag Sameach (Happy Chanukah); wish my potato latkes could be thin yet succulent as those my dear Babushka made,
Wonderful!
Very nice my friend Grzegorz!
La mejor version. Sus pianistas.
Great!
Los dos pianistas.
