Fun fact: the angel of fashion is played by Justin Tranter, who is the show's head songwriter. It's a hilarious case of creator jumping into the narrative to fix it. teHehehe
I love this number! I found myself singing it through out the rest of my day. The 'angel' reminds me of Dr. Frankfurter from Rocky Horror Picture Show.
'Beauty School Drop-Out' from 'Grease' with a touch of the 3 or 4 'Santa Ana Winds' songs from 'Crazy Ex Girlfriend' and a fashion-forward sprinkle over it all. Loving it!
He is magnificent, and I want to see him again in this series! The whole cast is so good. This series seems better than the original musical with such talent of acting, singing, set designs, dancing, and wardrobe. Each character has depth, the stories are used as parallels for several of today's social issues, and the songs can make you laugh, cry, or simply dance.
Its so cool that every SINGLE week i have a song stuck in my head from each episode: (Edited) Ep 1: New cool Ep 2: I want more and girl gang Ep 3: Take the wheel Ep 4: Carelessly Ep 5: Merely Players Ep 6: Girls cant drive Ep 7: Pulling strings Ep 8: Crushing me Ep 9: (between) Brutal honesty and Face to face now 😭 Ep 10: (Most DEFINITELY) Think pink
mine are: Ep 1: New Cool/Different This Year (reprise)/Good Girl Act/Grease Is The Word Ep 2: I Want More/Girl Gang/World Without Boys Ep 3: Take The Wheel/Same Sky Ep 4: Carelessly/Sorry to Distract/Pointing Fingers Ep 5: Merely Players/The Boom Ep 6: Girls Cant Drive Ep 7: Hit Me Again Ep 8: Hand Jive/Land Don't Look So Bad Ep 9: Brutal Honesty Ep 10: Think Pink/Please Please Please
The music in the whole series is wonderful. Each song has a great message but at no time are you feeling hit over the head. Between this and "Schmicago" musical theater people are having a fabulous Spring!
Their voice is impressive! I haven't seen the series yet, but this performance gives me 50s vibes, (obviously goes with the timeline) with a touch of Cher sounding vocals and David Bowie vibes.
@@bbcr11 Cher sang in the 50s or 60s didn't she? In her duo band called Sonny and Cher and the makeup on the teen angel looks a lot like David Bowie's look from the 70s or 80s. Those are just some things I observed. It might not have anything to do with the 50s genre but it seems like the Creators really wanted to put those details into the teen angel character. Anyway though, the song sounds like it comes from the 50s.
I was told that when I was three, I used to watch Grease over and over and over (it was how I learned how to rewind VHS tapes). Growing up, Beauty School Dropout was my favorite song, so I LOVE the homage here. I saw this thumbnail before I watched the episode and immediately dropped everything to watch it. Also I love the unintended(?) lore that it's the Frosty Palace's power to somehow connect people to their guardian angel (devil? Tee hee hee hee hee!).
The show got two Emmy nods and is not only cancelled but can't be viewed anywhere at all. Does that make any sense to anyone? Still love this song so much❤️
I haven’t been able to get this song out of my head and don’t even get me started on Justin Tranter!!! Love love loved him!!! This is my favorite song so far! Can’t wait for the next season! I hope we get to see more of Justin!
A great tribute to Frankie A and Frenchy Didi And Frankie once they see it they’ll be amazed that a amazing tribute to beauty school dropout. Now there’s one person that can pull this song now Justin good awesome but come on one I can think is Ziggy and Jareth you know his name need I say more. Other than that great vid
Justin has everything for being a Guardian Angel: Amazing singing voice Stylish Fashion Choices And getting the person you're a Guardian Angel for's name wrong
Ok so we've had The Angel of Fashion and Teen Angel, which other angels do you think will come through the portal to teenagers heaven that is miraculously in the Frosty Palace?
I know what you mean. There are so many words they could have used that rhyme with honesty. They could have also used a half rhyme (aka imperfect rhyme) such as need. If I had written it, I might have written something like "Brutal honesty, that is what you need".
I listened to the song again after I wrote that comment and they did actually say that towards the beginning of the song. I personally think it worked better than the Tee hee hee hee hee
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAS FOR THE GUARDIAN ANGELS FOR THE OTHERS HERE! I know we can't get a guardian angel for EVERY character in this show when it gets given a new home and continues (for no other reason than the fact that Frenchy was the only one in the original movie to get an angel), but doesn't mean we as fans can't imagine an angel for the rest of the characters. These are mine so far: For Olivia: The Angel of Literature - a Marilyn Monroe look-alike with glasses sitting on a throne of books - since I think Marilyn Monroe was her inspiration in the first episode at the drive-in who inspired Olivia to own her sexuality to triumph over the rumours spreading about her rather than trying to hide from them, and since in spite of the 'dumb blonde' image some people have about her Marilyn was actually a very well-read woman with over 400 books in her personal library. For Susan: Either Penelope Pitstop (though I know she's form the late 60s rather than the mid 50s) or a version of herself still with perfect hair, nails, skin and make-up but with a more mature hairstyle and in full car racing gear (can't decide if she'd be more a Nascar racing type or a Grand Prix racing type), confident and happy in a way that she isn't just yet, telling her that she's a possibility of what she could be if she reached for what she wanted than what others wanted for her, posing with her car. For Dot: not so much an angel or more the spirit of one of her departed pet rabbits or one of her departed fish (taking a break from haunting whoever peed in the fountain and killed it) appearing before her reminding her that her dad calls her a princess and telling her not to be afraid to reach for the crown that she deserves. Other non-confirmed ideas I have are the Angel of Rock and Roll and the Angel of the Theatre. The Angel of Rock and Roll I can see appearing (since boys need a guardian angel as much as girls) before Buddy, Richie or maybe Frankie Zucko, though I'm leaning mostly towards Buddy to help him figure out what he wants in life. Just can't decide if the Angel of Rock and Roll would be more an Elvis look-alike, a Little Richard look-alike or a Sister Rosetta Tharpe look-alike (since she is the recognised grandmother of Rock and Roll). Either way I want to see someone play Little Richard's 'Tutti Frutti' either at the Frosty Palace or over the speakers at Rydell so that we can see the origins of 'A whop-bap-aloma, ba-lop bam boom!' with the Rydell students (and for them all to start screaming dancing crazily, Socs, T-Birds and Pink Ladies alike). The Angle of Theatre I have a half-vision of being Julie Andrews in one of her Victor/Victoria outfits, or at least a Julie Andrews look-alike in a Victor/Victoria outfit. Can't decide if she should appear before Lydia, Cynthia or Shy-Guy, though right now I'm leaning towards Shy-Guy. Haven't decided who the Guardian Angel for everyone else is (Gil, Potato, Jane, Wally), I might be able to think of something in time. Who else has ideas? And while we're here, who do you think would be the guardian angel for the Pink Ladies and T-Birds from the original movie?
I LOVE your idea for Olivia. It's absolutely beyond perfect. For Susan-Someone like Wanda Jackson. Pure unrestrained rockabilly. A woman who plays guitar. Susan is trying to be nearly perfect but that's not what she really wants.
"The dangerous part of youth is thinking you're in your prime"
This is the most true line of all time
OMG exactly! My favorite line !
So true!
It's not called "Brutal Honesty" for nothing.
Fun fact: the angel of fashion is played by Justin Tranter, who is the show's head songwriter. It's a hilarious case of creator jumping into the narrative to fix it. teHehehe
I love him in this song. His hair being pink like for frenchies pink hair.
Lead singer of semi precious weapons
This singer is giving HEAVILY Queen coded vocals omg. Freddy Mercury is LIVING in this song.
He's actually the person behind all this amazing song's
More Bowie than Freddy
@@GrandiaKnight the look, bowie, but I said vocals for a reason.
I love this number! I found myself singing it through out the rest of my day. The 'angel' reminds me of Dr. Frankfurter from Rocky Horror Picture Show.
That’s EXACTLY what I was thinking.
Frankfurter and David Bowie had a baby
In the video where Justin talked about the song they confirmed that Dr. Frankfurter and Bowie were part of the inspiration for Angel of Fashion.
Then they had one hella clear vision!
Great interview on how the song was written! Definitely my fav of the series!
'Beauty School Drop-Out' from 'Grease' with a touch of the 3 or 4 'Santa Ana Winds' songs from 'Crazy Ex Girlfriend' and a fashion-forward sprinkle over it all. Loving it!
Yes! What an amazing observation! Love it!

This musical number is the reason it needs a second season.

Cher could have been an Angel too!
@@sahej6939 Maybe. I didn't really grow up listening to her as much as other people from the 70s.
Which would be completely out of place in 1954... just sayin

I'm so saaaad knowing there's not gonna exist a second season of this AMAZING SHOW
now this is what you call iconic
When I saw it I went "DAVID BOWIE! Wait.... didnt he die?!"
LOL good one but you bet he saw it up in heaven as well
Oh yeah he does look a bit like David Bowie
It's his ghost 👻
The show got two Emmy nods and is not only cancelled but can't be viewed anywhere at all. Does that make any sense to anyone? Still love this song so much❤️
The angel has insanely good vocals
I MISS THIS SHOW 😭
As someone who's followed Justin since SPW, you don't understand how happy this makes me
Imagine getting to write all the songs for the show and getting to perform one of them
I love that the lyrics are to "stay where you can be the rise instead of the fall" in a show called the RISE if the Pink Ladies.

Such an amazing and unique voice! Had to look up the singer after I saw this weeks episode!
It’s giving Freddie Mercury voice with David Bowie aesthetics. 💕
I can't get this song out of my head! And to be honest I don't want it out of my head. I love it so much!
I like how this and beauty school dropout seem to imply the heavens really like to smack some sense into the kids of Rydell through music numbers
Before we cancel our accounts, I need us to be brutally honest with Paramount+
This is one of my favorite songs in the whole show. I don’t even notice I’m singing it in public 😂
I played the angel in my schools production of grease and this is why I love those kinds of characterss
The angel of fashion reminds me of David Bowie/Ziggy StarDust
This is probably the best song out of the series!!!!
Her Glam Drag Guardian angel can SING!!!!!
This is hands down the best song in the show, imo.
Them: How many times have you watched this?
Me: Yes.
This was iconic paramount 😀
Can't get this out of my head!
Nancy and her fairy godparent!!
Also, love the ending descent 🔥
shout out to the angel who took her money
I can't begin to express how much i love this song.. thanks Mr.Awsome Song Writer.. i mean.. Angel of Fashion 😍
They really need to fix that gas leak in the Diner... kids keep having hallucinations there.
This guy could be David bowie in the remake of the labyrinth
I feel like this song is what Ursula would have sung in Little Mermaid if Ursula was an anti-hero and not a villain
This actually would be interesting remake idea for Little Mermaid... What if Ursula wasn't totally evil, just an anti-hero
ONE OF THE BEST THINGS PARAMOUNT HAS EVER MADE AND THIS SOLIDIFIED IT BEYOND BELIEF ❤️🔥
i didn’t think i’d fall in love w this song but i love it sm now
Justin has everything for being a Guardian Angel:
Amazing singing voice
Stylish Fashion Choices
And getting the person you're a Guardian Angel for's name wrong
I was shocked at how much I loved this.
I could listen to this all day! Love it!
The only number in 8 episodes that actually felt like it fit in to the Grease universe.
I love this show but it feels more like a fanfic, especially if you've seen the finale
Absolutely iconic.
His voice!!!!!!😍
Amazing!! One of my favorite numbers from the series. 👏
Dude they stole her money 😂😅
Wild, weird, and wonderful!😃😜👏🏻👏🏻
ICONIC

Justin should be the next David Bowie and become "Mother". Please dress up like this more often.
so good
This is my songgggg
I hate tassels, but I love these tassels 😂
play this song next to beauty school dropout it sounds really perfect together.
beauty school dropout
There’s something I love about this but other parts I’m like nah but I keep listening
Going to need a drag guardian angel to give their brutally honest opinion on all my life decisions now
Aaaaaaaaaah 😭😭😭
Precisamos da segunda temporada!!! Tô triste pô parecia que ia ter 2 temporada mais não teve😔😔
0:28 and 1:13 are my favorite parts! ❤️
Love, love, love it! 💗
Absolutely love this ❤

OMG A Crystal LaBeija reference.

Not the Paris is Burning Reference lol 🎉
Paramount pulled the show and I cancelled my subscription
Did anyone else notice one of the background dancers stealing the money from Nancy? Just me? Lol
not stolen, but inspired by David Bowie...
No Halo season 2?
Was this diner built on top of a demolished church or something?
👍
Can anyone fill me in about the choice of a Ziggy Stardust character, when the action takes place during the mid-Fifties?
Day 1 of asking Paramount+ to bring back the Pink Ladies.
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4
Day 5
Day 6 :D
Girl in green needs lip sync lessons and has an ok voice. Justin though is perfect in every aspect
Interesting David Bowie impersonation! I like this series, but honestly, none of the songs are as memorable as anything from the original play/movie.
Woke 1954 I don’t think so freaking music isn’t even 50’s & really bad 🗑️
You sound like you belong in the 1950s
🤮
If drag race doesn’t use this song at least once for a lip sync I’m rioting lol
Wiped clean from the earth like it never happened, yassss!
