Had gastric bypass 7 years ago. Educated myself & chose Whole Food Plant Based as the healthiest way of eating. The change was gradual. Never looked back. Whole new way of thinking, cooking, eating - lots of emotional/psychological changes of course but I am very happy with my results. Good luck everyone 👍

Love and compassion for Animals and caring about how they are treated. That is my reason for being vegan. That's why thousands of people have opted to be vegan for decades. It's not a new fad. Found it odd that you omitted the number one reason why people are vegan. I do thank you for all of these great suggestions that will undoubtedly help people with their post opp diets.

Thanks for the video! I had RNY in Nov 2018. Wanting to go plant based, but am terrified of not getting enough protein. Late last year and early this year (3 yes post opt), but sugars started to affect me. I was dropping low into the 30s. I went to my nutritionist, she told me to monitor my eating back on the baritastic app. And to have a protein number of about 50 to 60 g per day and carb, no more than 45. I have been tracking and doing good for the past 2 months. I want to slowly switch to plant based, but am terrified that my sugars will drop again if I take on too many carbs. Currently, I am about 1:1 (on the heavy side) of protein to carb. And I do fine with that. But I eat animal protein everyday to hit my protein number. Since monitoring, I have lost additional weight. I was at 162 for years, I am now at 146. I dont really want to lose anymore weight. I like the idea of starting out with 1 day no animal. Any tips or numbers you'd suggest that is safe to fall in for protein vs carb starting out?

That’s why I don’t want to go vegan. I barely get my recommended protein on regular diet I need 80-100g and I barely get 60 a day….I would be depleted of everything. Also soy and gluten doesn’t work well with my body. I am trying to cut red meat and beef and eat most fruit and veggie…but I refuse to cite animal protein. I have a few family and friends they do it and they are doing well

Good information! I’ve been vegan a couple of years and lost 40 lbs. I have a gastric band that has been a source of trouble for me in the past year. My doctor and I decided that removing it and having gastric bypass would be a good idea. Once we decided to remove the band, he removed all the fluid from it. Since then I have gained all the weight back but will be having my surgery in a little over a week. I’m looking forward to it but I’m nervous about eating some raw vegan foods with bypass. I’d like to know more about what to expect.
