He/she got one warning that he was going too hard in those conditions but he powered on over a bigger wave & dunked the engines. Poor heavy-weather tactics
The drogue worked very well and it looked like only a short warp. They were very efficient to deploy it so fast. A good idea for all power boats and also sailing dinghies, which can become becalmed on a rough lee shore. At least it wins time.
These Life Boat Guys are FANTASTIC. Keep it up, it takes practice.... The Life Boat Guys offered us rescue, we did not need it but I am grateful for them. Ralph
Coming back to this video after four years, it looks clear enough that the operator of this boat at 0:45 to 0:54 did not let this light boat ride easily on to oncoming wave but opened the throttles so the upward lift at the bows was tremendously increased causing the boat to reach almost vertical orientation where it dropped back, submerging the engines. He must have thought that he had a wave piercing bow design which he did not have!! Pity, a great pity what one second of lack of thought can do.
They know exactly the boat they’re driving, they know they have to make progress against the sea too, they just don’t know how steep a wave will suddenly get when it hits them or how deep the trough is behind it.
Ahoy! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Cheers.
i think it went well ,you presume the engine will start again,no it didn,t ok got to get drogue out of storage and deploy, all went well ,then when the wave picked them up at 1.40 you sea the sea carry them broad side then you sea the bow suddenly come round to the surf .that is when the under water drogue opened up fully and stopped the boat from possible capsize,so as a seaman not RNLI .i thought it was all very proffesonel, hope they are round if i ever need them ,good video
Brilliantly dealt with. I'm guessing the crew cut the drogue line when the engine was started? Impressive how quickly the drogue was deployed as well. Nice one guys
Looks like too much power on the face of the wave caused them to go nearly vertical and then come straight down on the boat's transom, submerging the engines deeply in the brine. I'm sure it was great fun to zoom into the air like that, but now they have waterlogged outboards.
You are delusional! Being a marine tech for over 25 years and have been trained and hold current certifications of various systems on Yamaha,Suzuki,Mercury, and Johnson/Evinrude in your opinion and many others the Yamaha and Suzuki products are far superior to the Evinrude product line. Remember the ficht that they came out with might be the worst outboard ever made in history! And for the e-tech I have seen many bizarre issues and the plastic components in the cooling system simply fall apart for no apparent reason. And not that this matters but running they sound like they are ready to blow up at ant time from day one out of the box, their controls suck and can go on and on. I guess if you want a "cool colored cowling and side shrouds" then the junkrude I mean E in rude is for you. I you are looking for a durable and responsive control and a dependable smoothe running outboard then I would strongly look to Yamaha and Suzuki. Don't entertain mercury as the other bomb is the verado, the issues with these I think my hand would fall off by the time I was done listing. Also Suzuki was the company to make the first 4 stroke outboard and when mercury came out with the 4 stroke they sucked so much they turned to Yamaha to manufacture them and put their ugly black plastic crappie on them. Now Evinrude they are so backwards they can't even make a 4 stroke, clean emissions from a 2 stroke,😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
thumbs up Evinrudes are shite!!! Yamaha most reliable outboards built they have the biggest share of the salt water market here in the US for a reason...
the drogue looked like it did exactly what it was supposed to do, very impressive how quickly it spun to boat round, also getting the engines restarted so quickly after drowning them proves how well serviced and maintained the boats are, good job. new underwear ?.
God is good. You can lean on Him in the storm. And with Him, you can literally walk on water... after a little (painless, bloodless) heart surgery. Then, fear nothing... He wins.
When is such a sea with such a craft with a lot of weight at the back and the centre of area at the front is too much, the nose will lift and rotate back. Those waves should havenever been tackled with that much throttle. A little diagonal would have helped , but it is better to just let t he boat ride on to the wave without any throttle , just let it ride.
Hello Sean, a drogue or sea anchor as it is also known is like an under water parachute that attaches to the bow and can be quickly be deployed to slow drift down in an emergency and also keeps the bow towards the waves which is the safest position for the vessel to be in while powerless. I am in a similar organisation and we keep the Drogue in a pocket on the sponson at the bow for fast easy deployment in the event of power loss etc. They did not panic and did what their training told them to do, very surprised they got the engines restarted though

Well done to the coxswain for handling the situation in such a calm and collective manner.

Thankyou Im sorry and stand well and truly corrected!!!!

Amazing recovery job, drogue deployed then restarting, TOP JOB
The number of people who give their own analysis from their armchair and say what the guys did wrong is staggering ! …
🤗🤗🤗
Brilliantly dealt with.

Cutting the drogue in my opinion may not be the best idea as it leaves a lot of rope in the water which can foul a prop
Okay the training is over for the day!

Top day out for the boys
Great effort in those seas ,these guys practice there skills so they can save others ,great result in the end
And they should know as it was one of the instructors at the helm (before he became an instructor)
And this ladies and gents, is why us smart sea goers, only run Evenrude engines :P Lol, great video
+DWI TheNastyOne just curious, what makes evinrude engines stop this from happening?
Very true!

Only taken an Evinrude out if you need a spare anchor

I bet the beer tasted good after that?
What happened to the sea anchor?
What is that going to do?
God is good. You can lean on Him in the storm. And with Him, you can literally walk on water... after a little (painless, bloodless) heart surgery. Then, fear nothing... He wins.
If all small boats carried a drogue to keep them to wind and waves there'd be a lot less lives lost. Not expensive you can even use a strong bucket.
Hydrolocking, not hydraulicing

Ooops, submerged both motors
whats a drogue?

yet another comment section full of experts. ho hum.
Wow
สับคลื่น ไม่รู้จักเลือกขนาด
Goodluck
you need a set of ors so you can row the boat back to shore but that boat is way to small for them waves
