I'm just jealous. No yacht anymore, circumstances. Nice to see this. You guys know your limits by experience. Last video I saw was abandoning yacht (Dove 2) after the main sheet broke. I wasn't there, but I think that skipper got a kind of panic attack. Good thing is, they got rescued (man, wife and two young children). But really, letting go such a great yacht, I am sure you would have sailed it home and he didn't. I must respect his choice, again I wasn't there, who am I? Sailing a family, losing your rudder, getting wife and children rescued, would you try sailing solo using an emergency rudder? Depends on the ship and the trip ahead, I guess.

I was at sea for 3 weeks in 1987. A tropical depression and a nor’easter came together. For about 3 days we had waves which make the waves in this video seem very small. This looks rough but by no means extreme. My experience is limited but the waves we were in were the size of skyscrapers. I wonder how often conditions are that rough? I have only sailed a few times but my impression is this video shows a rough but normal sea storm. It is not extreme based on my limited experience. We had many days of these conditions and a couple of days that were far worse. Is my impression correct?

there is a large room in front of the steering wheel in the floor of about 1000 liters where there are 2 large drainage holes that create negative pressure so the water is sucked straight out quickly, there was never a problem with the water on board

Tell me about the boat! The cockpit drains wonderfully. No wind vane? Constant hand steering? Ouch. Excellent job though!!!

Great video.........… I've sailed in conditions similar to this. Until you've done it you have no idea how difficult it can be. Loss of concentration or one bad move at the wrong time and you're toast.
