I would like to see an actual replica of ships like the Pinta, Santa Maria, 90’ wooden ships doing this? It would truly give an appreciation of the hardships those brave (crazy?) sailors endured.
You should try sitting at a desk for 40 years and see how crazy that is. All the kit-kats and coffee you could want and a lovely 2 hours commuting to start and end your day. Diabetes 2 here I come.

I must confess I still like monohulls vs. multihulls cause they still look like boats instead of water spiders.Though these look like big fat racing dinghys. Skippers here seem to have a mania for piling on all sail which leads to an overly wet ride & friction, slowing you down. To plane, racing dinghys & these boats must be sailed " flat". Heeling too much takes your boat way off it's designed lines & makes it ( despite dramatic appearances) SLOW. ( but I am an amateur, no worries)!

It's a Volvo Ocean 65 class and has a water ballast with an aft twin 800L ballast tank and a forward single centerline 1100L ballast. (according to volvooceanrace) I don't know if it has any extra lead/steel ballast though.
Then you better get started. Where i live in Denmark, we have something called "sea scouts" . Mabye you could start the same way. (I had only my mom, working 6 day's a week-so we did not have a lot of money) After that i took the first real education at the Training ship Denmark/full-rigged ( they are now taking onboard people from all of Europe) there we learned ałl about the rules, reading chart's, take a position without a GPS. The course ending with a trip from Copenhagen Denmark to New York. Best of luck if you want to make a career out of sailing.

Go and work on boats after you have finished A levels then do a design course. In between do lots of sailing

THESE SAILBOATS ARE GREAT BUT UNDER DESIGNED. THE BOW IS UNDER THE WATER WAY, WAY TO MUCH TIME.
IT IS NOT COOL FOR EACH AND EVERY WAVE TO DUMP WATER OVER THE TOP OF THE BOAT AND INTO THE COCKPIT
