I live in chicago, and when Sail GP came to chicago back in june, I was sailing out there that morning. In the afternoon we came out on powerboats to watch from a distance, and eventually the wind got too high and everyone took down their sails except for Canada, who later capsized right before our eyes.
That must have been exciting to see live! I think I have the onboard cam footage so might add it to a future video
GBR sure are involved in a lot of these incidents.
Yeah Ainslie is involved in a lot of America's Cup incidents too. 🤔 If he didn't keep crashing he'd do quite well!
Ben Ainslie’s career is like the nursery rhyme- when he is good, he is very, very good, but when he is bad, he is horrid.
@@FastForwardSailing Ainslie wasn't even the helm for all of them, Dylan Fletcher was some of them and the nzl and France one was completely on the other two and not gbr...
@@Alex-md6bu True but 2 out of these 10 Ainslie was on the helm for and there are others I didn't include. I'm a GB but errors have cost us more than any other top team I'd wager
And spain
Nobody:
GBR: *Imma do a backflip*
After the crash with the Japanese boat team GB gave the Japanese their boat so they could race the next day.
Fortunatly we haven’t seen someone get seriesly hurt by now besides that person receiving a brocken leg. The helmsman and the navigator behind them are so exposed if the bow of another boat was to come down on them. Good to see the Aussies staying out of trouble.
Definitely. The organisers and sailors should get a lot of credit fir keeping it relatively safe. Though one can’t not wonder whether a fatality is just a matter if time.
Interesting point about Aus. Theyve had 1 or 2 training capsizes but tend to stay out of trouble. Maybe that’s part of the winning formula. Or perhaps being ahead more often equals less chance of collisions
Im kinda surprised they can't build a halo like in F1 that protects sailors from the outside. Some of those collisions looked seriously sketch
@@dglesterhardunkichud7860 yeah, 2.4 tons boat coming in at 60++ kmhr is a massive amount of energy. It's like F150 crash into you at highway speed.
We have seen enough crash from other sports that smth like halo around the boat to prevent you getting crush by other boat should be mandatory.
Don't know they already got it or not. But smth like hans that restraint you head from high G crashing and rib protection vest would be nice to have too.
Great content as always , keep em coming.
Cheers Wez 😊
Exciting stuff, this would get people interested who aren't into sailing I reckon
GBR = 1, 4, 7. Sir Ben at his best
Ainslie wasn't even the helm in no.7.....
this is crazy good
I won't be surprised when someone dies in an F50 crash.
100 klicks is a helluva speed to be going with nothing but a lightweight helmet as protection.
But it is by far the most exciting yacht racing of all time.
Wouldn't really call them yachts anymore but pinnaces.
Love the music!
you have to give New Zealand credit for changing the Americas cup 4eva for the better, this is exciting racing
STARBOARD! STARBOARD! 😂😂😂😂
I like it. All for the win
This is a bit of a dumb question but what does GP in SailGP stand for?
I believe Grand Prix but could be wrong
Grand Prix
Grand Prix, like the old Toonami show IGPX: Immortal Grand Prix.
@@zoepaulastrassfield2664 Didnt think Id ever see IGPX get a mention when clicking on this vid
Spain mount more things than my dog 😂
Australia seem to be leading in most of these clips and staying out of trouble.
The stupid music ruined this otherwise good video
Agree
Quita la voz de tu terminal y lo verás más tranquilo.
Saludos
the music isn't too bad but it could be so much more impressive with more of original sound
so much damage with deep diving
Horrible music but good video
the music is amazing, do you mean that it is not corresponding to the video ?
Excuse me the music is one of the most famous classical pieces. Do not say a single bad word about the music. You have no clue!
Its the most overplayed classical musical piece, there is much better, more interesting music out there. Its babys first classical piece
Both Japan and uk teams sound very British 😂
Where the Saxons are also damage you will find and Japan knows what I'm talking about
I don´t know if I like the catamarans. They seem insanely unstable in strong winds, the foiling monohulls looked much better.
You see how Australia isn’t in any of these. Because we are the best
Imagine wtching F1 and the car just fcrashes into nothing in the middle of the rtrack?
Do they............have any control of the direction in which they go????..... it sometimes looks as if they dont.
They do, though it may not seem like it at times!
the french pretty much caused 60% of the collisions. L
Stock car racing on water.
Presumably this is like Grand Prix racing…people only watch it for the crashes. Take them away and it’s finished.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone is Australian WTF xD
D
These cats are amazing vehicles but you've managed to reduce competitive sailing to a vulgar sport like F1 or NASCAR that is only concerned with speed. There is no need to take advantage of windshifts and other subtle nuances of real competitive sailing. Obviously none of these racers even know the right of way rules.
No reason to go so negative. Sailing like everything else changes over time . Change is difficult as we get OLDER . There are many different classifications for racing . I am sure you will find one more suitable for your taste. Also maybe add more roughage to your diet. 😂🇺🇸🫶
