The politician claiming the Iranian mothership is an example of how politicians work today. They do very little of what they were elected to do and they speak a lot of nonsense to get people arguing to keep us from noticing that they are, in fact, useless. It's a tactic that is as old as time, yet a large part of the population falls for it every time.

This highlights the issues with this "drone" thing. 99% of the population have no idea how drones work, how GPS works, how ADSB works, how airspace works..... Now add all of that up and this is what you get. A ton of idiots filimng airliners/airplanes flying around like they do every day (night) and calling them foreign spy drones.

Okay, this is going to be a very long comment...
I own two drones. Hobby types, with 4K video. There are about 1 million drones out there. Mostly hobby types, but many commercial drones, too. Some are very large industrial grade drones that have very small fuel injected gasoline engines that spin a generator to power the electric motors. These can have an endurance exceeding 5 hours. They are used to transport various things, up 25 kilograms in weight. Many drones can be programmed to fly a specific route via GPS. My drones are sophisticated enough to return to their takeoff spot should battery get low or lose radio signal.
I saw one news video where a reporter went with about 10 NJ residents to a large park. They immediately began calling out and videoing "drones". While this was going on, the reporter, along with a pilot, was using an app that shows all commercial and private aircraft flying nearby. 34 "drones" were counted by the residents. Using the app, 31 were identified as manned aircraft using a transponder. Some light aircraft are not required to have a transponder and will not be displayed by the app. Only one object was deemed to be a drone, and it was flashing the FAA required white strobe light.
If these drones are flown by bad actors, why would they they light their lights or have the FAA strobe? That makes no sense.
This is very reminiscent of several flying saucer scares since WWII, in that hysteria takes over. Yes, there are drones flying in the night sky. They are flying in the daytime sky, too. But no one notices. Why? Night time is scarier... Moreover, lights in the sky are easy to see.
So yes, there are some drones being flown. No doubt. However, most of the sightings are in proximity to major airports or departure and arrival routes.
Thus, common people uneducated i drone technology or aviation see lights in the sky and immediately assume these are drones. They flood police with calls. Worse, panic breeds panic.
Politicians are equally dumb but forced to show concern. Ignorance fuels fear. That one Congressman and his "high ranking" source came across as about as sharp as a bowling ball...
Could there be bad actors flying spy drones? Maybe. But, it is unlikely to be related to that.
Given a few weeks, this hysteria will fade like the flying saucer hysteria of the early 1950s.
There's an upside. This will force government to recognize the real threat of drones for terrorism. Maybe laws will be changed, resources allocated, and anti-drone systems become available outside of the military.

New Jersey has always been a busy piece of airspace.
Most people who are seeing these crafts are probably paying attention to the sky for the first time in ages.
I look up to the skies quite often, primarily spotting stars and planets. I've also got apps for aircraft ID and satellite ID.
Most people would be amazed as to how many aircraft and LEO satellites are visible with the bare eye on a clear night.
Lastly, labeling sightings as extraordinary should be avoided untill the ordinary has been filtered out

Visual illusions of manned aircraft. The airspace over Picatinny Arsenal is in Class G airspace up to 700' AGL (which means even if they were drones, which I doubt, those drones could be there up to 400' AGL without an airspace authorization from the FAA) and there's a jet feeder route into Newark Airport that goes right over Picatinny and Trump's golf course. People are seeing manned aircraft but can't accurately judge speed, altitude, and size because of the visual illusions. The madness of the crowds is being enflamed by those who have a potential conflict of interest in promoting a narrative from the security-industrial complex who would benefit from more money from Congress to buy more gear.

Funny, as a sub, one of the things that drew me to your channel was the episodes regarding Gen Milley. Undermining the CIC is a crime that needs to be addressed as it directly impacts the policies laid down by the Executive Branch which the Gen under the US Constitution swore an oath to honor. It is apparent that Gen Milley had allegiances elsewhere ...not to the POTUS. He could have resigned should he have considered any Executive Order illegal. Instead he went against his CIC. The fact is that failure to maintain discipline within the ranks falls squarely on the shoulders of POTUS. He must act to prevent further insubordination within the ranks. That this insubordination was in conjunction with one of our sworn adversaries...calls for charges of treason.

This drone scare is 2024s version of “Killer Clowns “ at the edge of the woods. 28 media helicopters in New Jersey, which are equipped with the best cameras in the world and not one second of quality video, even though it would be ratings gold for their station. Additionally not one professional, or hobbyist photographer has captured an image. It’s all cell phone crap taken from thousands of feet away.
Secondly not one interview with an FAA official, or the country’s largest commercial drone company, which just happens to be in NEW JERSEY! why not interview them and find out how many regular commercial drones are flying over New Jersey every night? These commercial drones coupled with hobbyist drones and misidentified general aviation are what’s being seen.
A single hobby drone was flown over a small airport in NY causing the airport to shut down temporarily. This wouldn’t be a story, but the headlines and accompanying story makes it appear like a major airport was inundated with large unidentified drones.
This entire thing is media, hysteria fueled and poorly handled/ addressed by our representatives. I’ve gotta go now , they’re’s a Sasquatch sighting in my neighborhood…….

I try to listen to every episode that you broadcast. Excellent channel with solid information. I have three things today, technical, fun, and serious; in that order. #1 there have been drones for a very long time that are not able to be jammed. #2 as far as FAA rules of flight I grew up in South Dakota in the '60s '70s and '80s. I watched countless fighter planes, dog fighting, practicing, maneuvering, over our farm. Many times we were buzzed at supersonic speeds at 50 ft off the deck. One time a B-52 buzzed out farming neighborhood at approximately 200 ft. I loved it! I so much wanted to be a pilot and an aircraft mechanic, but the opportunity never came my way. One time I saw a jet dip down on the other side of the valley, disappear from view and I thought it was going to crash into the hill our farm was on but then it shot straight up over our farm at 50 ft! Only about 10 ft above the windmill. Then, when it was a quarter mile away from the farm, the sound hit with a thunderous roar, and the pigs and the cattle ran everywhere and I thought it was awesome! #3 excellent leadership skills displayed. For the past 36 years I've run three automotive repair businesses by freely sharing what I know and apologizing when I'm wrong and making up for it. I would imagine that is one of the reasons your channel is so successful.

As an FAA 107 certified drone pilot living in NJ in the heart of this hysteria I am appalled at the ignorance and belligerent stupidity coming from my fellow citizens, from elected officials, from news media and others. This may have started with a complaint from a state police or medivac helicopter complaining about a drone in the area he wanted to land. That may or may not have been true, and we know there is some antagonism between manned aircraft and drones sharing airspace. From there it blew up in social media, with ignorant people claiming that manned aircraft were drones. I've watched many dozens of these false videos. Best of all, even if there were drones flying at night, that's not illegal with the proper flight rules! After days went by, some drone pilots tired of the idiocy may have decided to fly at night just to tweak the noses of the frightened populace. Now the conspiracy theories are out of control, with the Iranians/Chinese/Aliens flying from their mothership or the military/CIA/Amazon testing top secret drones. Drones as big as a Suburban hovering over rooftops for hours! Right. Apparently somebody solved the battery problem. What's terrifying is not the mythical drones, but a populace mixing ignorance with arrogance and spewing the result over social media.

@@michaelbenjmitchell1 Actually, flying in class D airspace below 10,000 msl does not require a transponder. That aside, I'll repeat an important lesson I learned in boot camp. They told me that if I ASSUME I make an ASS of U and ME. What are you assuming? That every report you saw was accurate and that the people making a homemade video knew how to use their phone app to identify transponding aircraft. That the people making the report could correctly identify an aircraft over them versus many miles away from them at night and also correctly identify the altitude. That the makers of the free phone app offer perfect real-time information. That the reports you saw were not made up by jokesters (I saw many of those). Those of us who actually fly drones know how how difficult it is to do at night, how close you'll keep VLOS, what 400 feet looks like, and what quadcopter maneuvers look like.

@@ssss224455that is BS! I live in Mercer County NJ, and I see these things and you know what I do when I see them? I verify it with a flight tracker app and a star map app. Guess what, sometimes when I do there is nothing on radar that says there is a plane, helicopter, star or planet in the area I'm looking at. To say what you did is just ignorant. Anyone with a cell phone and Internet connection can verify what they are seeing. Not only that our own state and federal assemblymen, senators, mayors, and legislation are seeing the same thing.

About using GPS to track the drones. GPS receivers do not send data to the satellites, in that sense they're no trackable that way.

The Posse Comitatus Act doesn’t apply to National Guard soldiers called to active service under USC Title 32, as opposed to active duty service under USC Title 10. There’s a long history of National Guard airman/soldiers being utilized to address threats against the homeland by enforcing state/federal laws.
