So In the comics bane had nightmares of demonic bats when he was a kid and haunted him all his life. When bane heard of batman he believes facing batman was his destiny. That's why in origins you seen that he had personal grudge against Batman before he met him in person and here as well.
My favorite scene from the third act is when the statue of Batman is revealed. The cloth comes off, and as the cameras click away it zooms in on Gordon, sitting there with a kind of resentful grimace on his face. It's like he is just sitting with the knowledge not just of who Batman is, but of what it means that others don't. It's like he's sitting there feeling with the awareness of how everyone treated Bruce Wayne the public figure, how he sullied his name to save them. The awareness that they all turned on him so quickly, when Gordon and Batman came up with the plan to blame Batman to protect Harvey's image. No one doubted the story. They all stopped believing, save for a few like Blake. When he saved the city from Ra's, they still wanted him caught. When he was protecting the city from the joker, they still chased him. It wasn't until he, as far as the city is concerned, sacrificed himself to save everyone that they commemorate his life, his courage, his honor, his loyalty, his sacrifices with a statue in Central Hall - something the city should have acknowledged when he saved everyone from Ra's. When the statue is revealed, it feels like a "too little too late" kind of moment for the city, which I think is confirmed by the look on Gordon's face as the sheet comes down. It's such a powerful scene how it all plays together, especially with the very somber music that plays over the moment. The music, the reveal of the statue, the zoom in on Gordon's expression, the final shot of a close up of the face of the statue. It's just so good.

I was lucky enough to watch this in theaters back in 2012. It's not my favorite Nolan Batman film due to some questionable writing and some of the acting. Fun fact: the mercanary at 17:17 is Christopher Judge. The actor for Kratos in the latest God of War games as well as playing Teal'c in the Stargate tv series. Anyway I enjoy Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy very much. The only things that didn't do it for me (as a Batman fan) was the lack of detective and proper martial art skills Bruce seems to possess. That being said, the overall storytelling, performances, worldbuilding, realism and production value are a major plus for me.
Bruce literally trained with ninjas in the mountain. His fight style is pure martial art fighting Some actually dislike it cause it's not the most entertaining to watch. But its very realistic
@@dylana.9057 It's realistic in a sense of general combat, sure. However Bruce training with ninjas barely has any bearing on the martial art skills actually shown on screen (like authentic ninjitsu). It's noticable, especially for people who practice martial arts. The whole setting in the mountain sanctuary serves and works as a training montage (for plot purposes). It's cool but that's it. There is never a proper (long shot and in frame) emphasis on Bruce's martial art prowess. Not in any of the three movies. The hand-to-hand fight scenes barely show any skill or mastery from the people performing them. The choregrapher still promoted it as the "Keysi Fighting Method" -integrating Kali, Silat, JKD and BBJ. However, it's abruptly cut or shot in a way you can't see Batman use specific techniques or styles. Obviously I know the background of the character, and I don't have issues with his martial skills in most other depictions at all. Usually he is a master of countless fighting styles. But as a martial artist of 30 years (of the forementioned fighting styles amongst others) Nolan's version is a martial art letdown for me personally. And that's okay; there are enough other things the trilogy excels at.
@@justjdnl bro I've seen many analysis on the fighting style with a keysi fighter breaking down the fighting scenes in tdk. In rises the film pushes to use more brute force and less martial arts because of his enemy. And in begins the many cuts try to emphasize a creature of the night that comes and goes like a bolt of lightning. I'm.not saying tdk has the best choreography ever but saying there is never a proper long shot emphasis on Bruce's martial art prowess is not very true blud. Bruce seems very rigorous and technical in his fighting efficiency in tdk
@@dylana.9057 Let it be clear that this is all nitpick territory. I'm aware I'm going on a tangent here (apologies in advance) lol! I never argued that Batman wasn't fierce and efficient in TDK. For plot purposes he is. Yet his actual technical skills were underwhelming for me. Not to mention he moves (and looks) stiff as a board in that suit, which doesn't sell it. Almost all combat scenes in TDK involve no more than 3-4 sec shots at a time of Batman fighting an opponent. These are then edited together. To me that's not a long camera shot. Nothing particular striking is depicted in those shots either. I'm talking about the garage scene at the start of the movie, the penthouse fight and the hostage segment from the final act. He also uses his gadgets a lot, which makes sense, but do undercut his supposed hand-to-hand combat mastery as a DC character in this case. As you have indicated as well, in BB Batman mainly uses the shadows and deception to fight. That is awesome and works, but it doesn't allow the viewer to accurately see and judge the dark knight's knowledge and performance in martial arts. In TDKR Batman is a withered older man who is past his prime, so his way of fighting is different. That makes sense story wise. But it proves my point that he is rarely seen as the expert fighter we originally know him to be. The realistic tone Nolan used for his films shouldn't stand in the way of the visible implementation of fighting styles. And for me it lacked in that department. I would've simply enjoyed seeing a Batman that felt more realistic AND authentic. Not just a guy in a batsuit whose a good brawler. This version being a master martial artist just wasn't believable for me. Without his gadgets he didn't seem like a fighter bad guys would fear. I'm not necessarily criticizing Keysi as a modern hybrid fighting system but its value, effectiveness and choreography are undersold in these films. The same goes for the older styles it is mostly derived from. Whether it be due to mediocre combat direction, limited capabilities by the performers/actors, odd camerawork or the "choppy" editing choices. Knowing that Keysi has strong elements of Kali, JKD, BJJ and Silat as an instructor myself I was looking forward to seeing those onscreen. Quite recognizable in style and technique yet in the end barely recognizable in any of the three movies.
I remember when casting came out for this, and the fans heard Marion Cotillard was in it. We were all certain she was Talia al-Ghul. Then she came out denying it at one point, insisting she was an original character. But then images from the set came out, particularly the one of her on top a tumbler vehicle. It was pretty much a given by then. Besides, she was perfect casting for Talia as far as appearance goes. But when I got into the theater I forgot, I fell hook-line-and-sinker for her being Miranda Tate. So they really got me with that twist... of the knife.
I don't care if people dislike this movie, I love it and I think it's brilliant. Watched it in the cinema back in the day and as you two, I applauded when the credits were rolling.
Hello Meg, I'm on watching you and Caleb reacting to the Dark Knight Rises and I really liked it you both had me laughing a lot this was really great and I enjoyed it Thank You both have a great week and Thank You Meg and Caleb.😎
28:11 You cut the part where Lucius asks who fixed the auto pilot, and they tell him from the log that it was Bruce Wayne! So basically the Bat, was flying on its own when the bomb exploded!
Now Man of Steel! We need a Meg the therapist breakdown of this rendition of Clark. Something tells me she will appreciate the different interpretation.
The auto pilot had been fixed by Bruce 😉 even though he said it wasn't. Unfortunately I figured out she was Ra's Al Ghul's daughter when I first saw her in the movie back then it just seemed too convenient
It’s really cool how this movie tied the whole story together with The League of Shadows, Bruce’s fear of bats and falling down the well, the Joker destroying Batman’s life and reputation, and Bruce overcoming his need to be Batman and living a normal life.
Bane's speech at Blackgate is still my fave villain speech. Hardy only had his eyes and voice. Damn! Yeah, I remember watching this with my younger sister who knew nothing about the comics or Batman in general, but she recognized the girl playing "the child". This plus the Moroccan Arabic chanting, and Morocco being a former French colony, and Marion Cotillard being French and her character having a surname that basically means "Head" in French, she picked up on all those clues. I think nowadays with the girl being more famous, more people watching this movie for the first time will either be so confused as to why "Bane as a child" is played a girl or they would immediately guess the twist, especially if they have some knowledge of Talia from other Batman media.
I really like how when Bruce meets Selina she's intrigued by the arrows stuck in the archery target and Bruce actually shoots one right by her face lol, it's a nice callback to Batman Begins with the Finders Keepers motif. I also like the Robin homage, makes me think that if Blake ever suited up he'd make a good Nightwing (Robin grown up) since his weapons are kinda like police batons. Nolan movies are full of little details like that.
I love how you pointed out corrupt regimes taking over for corrupt regimes. So often the people who actually fill out the ranks of revolution are pure though and the figure head who had the charisma to gather them is corrupt or a monster.
How did Bruce get back into Gotham? Selina: “I can’t even get off this island” Bruce: “I can give you a way off if you take me to Fox” *Catwoman takes him to Fox* Batman says to Catwoman after: “the midtown tunnel is blocked by debris but the cannons have enough firepower to make a path for people” He would only know this because that is how he got back into Gotham.
So I've watched the dark knight trilogy with you guys and I'm glad to see her reactions to all the cause there very genuine and that's how a true Batman fan should feel can't wait to see what else you guys watch related to batman
I had the same reaction as Meg to the ending when I saw it in the theater. I was a sobbing mess, and I slowly transformed into smiling uncontrollably. Love the ending to this movie.
I think at the end when there's the "Robin" namedrop, It makes sense because this film wasn't setting up an extended cinematic universe. It was the end of a trilogy that was truly the end. But no one in the audience except for hands would have understood a name drop like "Dick Grayson". And imagine if the line had been, "try real name, Dick". That would have resulted in meme city. But everybody knows the name Robin, so I think it was a good and logical change that served the purpose of the scene very well. The next generation is secured.
* He uses his mask to ingest his experimental super steroid drug "venom" giving him superhuman strength. In the comics he actually breaks Batman's back but, in the movie, they changed it to a slipped disk. That was done so, Christian Bale could recover while in prison and then defeat Bane later in movie.
That is one of the great endings to what, in my opinion, is the greatest trilogy in the history of cinema. I loved your reaction to this. If you haven't seen The Shawshank Redemption, I'd love to see you react to that too.
Im very impressed by how meg knows about ra al gul on him having a daughter named talia but does she also know that her an batman were going to become a couple an that ra wanted batman to become the new leader of the league of shadows but batman didn't want to do that
the ending when he's on the plane and he's looking into the ocean it's not the look of a man that's about to die Its the look of a man that's about to save his city and can leave the batman behind him while he can finally live at peace with his inner demons once the job was done.
TDK Rises actually it's quite solid... maybe a little bit too long... but still a good way to end the trilogy... some people don't like it maybe because The Dark Knight set the bar high... it's so good that make higher expectation for the next Batman...
Not sure if you guys have already, but now you also got to do Adam West's Batman, Tim Burton's, Batman Forever (my first ever Batman film I saw as a kid and has one of the greatest songs ever written in it, "Kiss From a Rose" by Seal) & Batman & Robin.
More recommendations: following phase 4 of the MCU, and Jessica Jones s1, X-men movies, Spiderverse movies (basicly more Marvel) (if you haven't seen movies, sieres): Pirates of the caribbean, Megamind (or any Dreamworks movie), Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Terminator 1-2, Kingsman movies, The Boys Lego movie, Batman 1989 and than Lego Batman (you'll thank me later) These are all movies that i think both of you would love, and all have a vibe to it that i feel also around you guys (I should say Star Wars or Superman II, but i know that you are planning to watch those soon
I imagine that Bruce Wayne walked across the ice to get back into Gotham: in Batman begins we literally see Ra’s teaching him how to move on ice and when Gordon lights the glare Batman approaches from across the ice. As for how he made it all the way back to Gotham in the first place… he’s Batman!! You think he doesn’t have money stashed?! Connections?!?!
Don’t stop here, continue the modern standalone Batman movie marathon with Joker (2019) and The Batman (2022), ofcourse if you haven’t seen it and maybe The Dark Knight Returns as well since you mentioned that in the first part 😂
They used the name Robin because that's a character most people would know a person who has just seen the movies isn't going to have any clue who the hell they are referring to when it comes to Dick Grayson.
I woulda have been ok with just the nod from Alfred without the reveal, but I understand people would want to finally see Bruce and Selina as a couple in a movie.
This was the best reaction on youtube to my favorite movies of all time. I havent cried in years and i shed a real tear at the end of this reaction alongside yall :') Your knowledge of the source material was amazing to see because you caught damn near all of the symbolism and twists on Bwtman lore (like the "Lazarus pit"). Somehting to think about btw: In that speech Bane gives to the people, afaik he quotes the Occupy Wallstreet Movement almost verbatim. Taking that into the account and the fact that this was post 9/11 movie set in "New York" with the main theme being terrorism and corruption, that is HEAVY. This is acrually one of the rare political movies from that era close to 9/11 that directly addresses, comments and discusses ideas relevant to said tragedy and political situation in general, and its a freakin superhero movie😂
people still get confused about how Bruce got back to Gotham. Billionaires (even ex ones) have billionaire friends with private jets. It would have been super easy for him to call up a buddy and say he needed a ride.
Absolutely loved the comparison between Scarecrow/R'as' modus operandi and Bane's but y'all should really think about what the Joker was actually trying to accomplish before you assume he's the same. Every action dude took made Gotham a better place and if you really think about it everything he did that was messed up had a positive effect on the city so you have to wonder if he wasn't just trying to make them look at the state of the morals in their city. I mean it's possibly the most corrupt city in fictional history and the citizens there all either turn a blind eye or actively take part. Very few are actually totally innocent/good people moreso just cowards in general as a city
The Dark Knight Returns had a better ending: Gordon: "Were you a friend?" Superman/Clark Kent: "I think so, I honesty couldn't say" Gordon: "Sounds about right"
You know sweetheart, this coming to an end is bittersweet. I mean, I looked forward to your Dark Knight reactions, and found myself always getting impatient. Now the finale has arrived and I wish it hadn't yet 😂😂.
This movie has many flaws, and I personally never liked it. But seeing your reaction and seeing you still find things to love in it has made me smile tonight. :) I appreciated it through your eyes.
The way i viewed these movies up until the matt reeves film is that this trilogy is the "real" account of the Batman of Gotham City and all the comics and cartoons and other films are over exaggerations and fabrications based on the "real" Batman. So like all the Robins are based on the fact that there was a man who happened to be an orphan who worked with and aided the Batman and his middle name was Robin and the information most people had was a guy named Robin helped out Batman and the in universe comic book writers just ran with that.
Bruce didn't let Rachel stop him from being Batman. That didn't happen. He was Batman until all those prisoners were in Blackgate and his body stopped allowing for it. He let the grief stop him from having a life outside of Batman. That's what Alfred wanted for him. Alfred says Gotham needs Bruce Wayne and resources, not his body and his life. You might want to re-watch with that clarified, because it skews the movie if you think that. I mean Bruce doesn't move on from any of the tragedies or traumas in his life, so losing Rachel is something that he would always carry. And I think comparing Zoey to Anne's is a little unfair, because of Bane's screentime in the movie compared to Riddler's. The Bane backstory and focus meant we couldn't get hers. We know nothing about the Riddler's past after that 3 hour movie.
Dark Knight is my favorite, Begins is great (its the one that even gave us the rest) and I've lone agreed in retrospect Rises is better than I originally gave it credit for when I saw it. But honestly, us Batman fans are BEOND spoiled lol. We have almost TOO much media on this pantheon. All great in their one ways, even Batman & Robin for being so bad it's good.
My only issue with this movie is the reveal that Blake's real name is Robin. It's a bit too on the nose and didn't really make sense to me. It would have been better if his real name had been revealed as "Richard", "Mr. Grayson", "Tim", or "Mr. Drake".
The Best Perfect Ending in Live Action Superhero Movie.. I'm MCU fans and i can't find any perfect ending.. I think The close one to perfect ending is 'End Game'..
Toward the end, Lucius mentioned that someone fixed the autopilot. That's how he survived.
IIRC, the code submitted that fixed the auto pilot was logged under Bruce Wayne.
I know I’m the only person on the planet who has this opinion, but to me this is the greatest ending to any movie ever.
There’s two of us.

That being said, the overall storytelling, performances, worldbuilding, realism and production value are a major plus for me.
Bruce literally trained with ninjas in the mountain. His fight style is pure martial art fighting
Some actually dislike it cause it's not the most entertaining to watch.
Some days you just can’t get rid of a bomb.
Collegehumor made some really hilarious parodies for these movies if you wanted to react to them.
Its actually not a dream sequence ending cause alfred doesnt know how selina looks like, so its real and he lives yes.
I don't care if people dislike this movie, I love it and I think it's brilliant. Watched it in the cinema back in the day and as you two, I applauded when the credits were rolling.
It’s way better than The Dark Knight.
@@thereisnopandemic I wouldn't say it's better but I think it's more fun to watch.
You weren't paying attention it was said that Bruce fixed the auto pilot
After watching the Christopher Nolan trilogy, you should check out Pete Holmes's College Humor Batman skits. They directly parody Nolan's trilogy.
Fun fact the bane soldier who was ready to kill Blake(robin) is Christopher judge aka KRATOS
Hello Meg, I'm on watching you and Caleb reacting to
the Dark Knight Rises and I really liked it you both had
me laughing a lot this was really great and I enjoyed it
Thank You both have a great week and Thank You
Meg and Caleb.😎
Alfred: You will wait until I am on screen, then you have my permission to cry
16:40 and 17:16 that black bald guy is the voice actor for kratos in god of war 4 and ragnarok
HOW DID I NOT RECOGNIZE HIM
Man that ending gets me every time 😭
Everytime i see batmans face when Talia stabbed him, all i see is that badman parody😂😂😂
I can tell you that this movie is a lot better when you can understand what Bane is saying. Which wasn't always the case when the movie was released.
The last scene and the scene of the pit is more then a movie for me
I really like how when Bruce meets Selina she's intrigued by the arrows stuck in the archery target and Bruce actually shoots one right by her face lol, it's a nice callback to Batman Begins with the Finders Keepers motif.
Selina: “I can’t even get off this island”
Bruce: “I can give you a way off if you take me to Fox”
*Catwoman takes him to Fox*
Batman says to Catwoman after: “the midtown tunnel is blocked by debris but the cannons have enough firepower to make a path for people”
He would only know this because that is how he got back into Gotham.
So I've watched the dark knight trilogy with you guys and I'm glad to see her reactions to all the cause there very genuine and that's how a true Batman fan should feel can't wait to see what else you guys watch related to batman
Props to you for figuring out the twist before I did. I didn't even realize that the kid they used was a girl when I saw this in the theater
I had the same reaction as Meg to the ending when I saw it in the theater. I was a sobbing mess, and I slowly transformed into smiling uncontrollably. Love the ending to this movie.
A very important scene which explains the ending. Is that Fox finds out the autopilot is fixed...
Somehow many don't get that......
New favorite reaction channel. Y'all are fun. Subscribed.
Such a great movie! "John Blake / Tim Drake." Yeah, I thought the same thing. Nolan made it his own; that"s cool.
That whole mask is actually Bane's personal vape pen.
Nolan said he wanted to make this trilogy more realistic take, that's why there's no venom in bane and no actual suit for cat woman and many others.
Clearly already knew what the reveal was tbh
Yayayayayayayayay always excited when I get to reaction early!!!
That is one of the great endings to what, in my opinion, is the greatest trilogy in the history of cinema. I loved your reaction to this. If you haven't seen The Shawshank Redemption, I'd love to see you react to that too.
Im very impressed by how meg knows about ra al gul on him having a daughter named talia but does she also know that her an batman were going to become a couple an that ra wanted batman to become the new leader of the league of shadows but batman didn't want to do that
17:17 Oh my god that's Kratos!!
the ending when he's on the plane and he's looking into the ocean it's not the look of a man that's about to die Its the look of a man that's about to save his city and can leave the batman behind him while he can finally live at peace with his inner demons once the job was done.
In Mask of the phantasm there is a better representation of a "Rachel" type character. They should have taken that as inspiration
TDK Rises actually it's quite solid... maybe a little bit too long... but still a good way to end the trilogy... some people don't like it maybe because The Dark Knight set the bar high... it's so good that make higher expectation for the next Batman...
Such a perfect ending.
The scarecrow scenes were supposed to be played by the joker. It makes more sense when you re-watch the movie.
Both watching masterpiece while I watch this 💎 cry a lots🥹🥲
If I was Bruce, let's just say I'd come for Cat Woman first as soon as I've escaped the prison
24:37 with that laugh he should be the joker
Not sure if you guys have already, but now you also got to do Adam West's Batman, Tim Burton's, Batman Forever (my first ever Batman film I saw as a kid and has one of the greatest songs ever written in it, "Kiss From a Rose" by Seal) & Batman & Robin.
Lot more people know the name Robin. Makes sense they went with that.
More recommendations: following phase 4 of the MCU, and Jessica Jones s1, X-men movies, Spiderverse movies (basicly more Marvel)
(if you haven't seen movies, sieres): Pirates of the caribbean, Megamind (or any Dreamworks movie), Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Terminator 1-2, Kingsman movies, The Boys
Lego movie, Batman 1989 and than Lego Batman (you'll thank me later)
These are all movies that i think both of you would love, and all have a vibe to it that i feel also around you guys (I should say Star Wars or Superman II, but i know that you are planning to watch those soon
I cannot wait to see what you think of Selina/Catwoman in the Michael Keaton Batman Returns movie.
Worker TOLD Mr. Fox, autopilot was already fix.. Fox say by who?
Worker says by Bruce Wayne ❤
Don’t stop here, continue the modern standalone Batman movie marathon with Joker (2019) and The Batman (2022), ofcourse if you haven’t seen it
and maybe The Dark Knight Returns as well since you mentioned that in the first part 😂
Joker is kind of a rerun of "the King of Comedy" movie ( though more violent ).
Hans zimmers rahs a Gous theme is soo good
They used the name Robin because that's a character most people would know a person who has just seen the movies isn't going to have any clue who the hell they are referring to when it comes to Dick Grayson.
I can never get over the fact that Bane is Tom Hardy 🤣
I woulda have been ok with just the nod from Alfred without the reveal, but I understand people would want to finally see Bruce and Selina as a couple in a movie.
This was the best reaction on youtube to my favorite movies of all time. I havent cried in years and i shed a real tear at the end of this reaction alongside yall :')
Your knowledge of the source material was amazing to see because you caught damn near all of the symbolism and twists on Bwtman lore (like the "Lazarus pit"). Somehting to think about btw:
In that speech Bane gives to the people, afaik he quotes the Occupy Wallstreet Movement almost verbatim.
That dog is the batman in your life btw
If DCEU was even 10 percent as good as this trilogy. Damn !
Talia was wasted in the movie. She should have had some action sequences and died in badass fashion.
The Dark Knight Returns had a better ending:
Gordon: "Were you a friend?"
Superman/Clark Kent: "I think so, I honesty couldn't say"
Gordon: "Sounds about right"
Not sure she’s seen returns yet so this could be a spoiler
@@ch33les99 non spoiler, no details of ending given nor the circumstance of the conversation was given. It is left open for assumption.
Y’all should react to more of Nolan’s films, if you haven’t already seen them!
We plan on it!! The Prestige is the next Nolan film on our list!
0:56 oops. 😂😂 great recovery dude.
Drake".
Eardrums murdered. Worth it
13:40 Oppenheimer
The Best Perfect Ending in Live Action Superhero Movie.. I'm MCU fans and i can't find any perfect ending.. I think The close one to perfect ending is 'End Game'..
It was a gorgeous ending
It actually showed that Bruce fixed the autopilot. I guess you guys missed it or were talking lol
He really likes coheed and Cambria
Saludos desde la República Dominicana excelente vídeo
