The word Caleb used (“efficient”) to describe the writing in this movie is very apt. That’s what makes this movie a classic to rewatch again and again. With all the other factors duly noted (i.e. great acting, cinematography, etc.), there’s just so much content and substance power-packed into each moment of this movie which grips and interests me every time I watch it.

While Jack Nicholson is my personal favourite Joker, Heath Ledger did exceptional job with his role. Overall, this movie is one of the finest examples of adult superhero movies. The only thing nagging me is Christian Bale's "Batman voice" and mouthbreathing face. And I understand that it makes sence, that's how he keeps up his secret identity. But every time he's doing this I just burst out laughing, and it kinda breaks the dark, solemn and serious mood.

I disagree with the idea that batman enjoys dealing with joker. I actually think he is terrified everytime joker starts doing anything just because joker is so randomly violent and chaotic. Joker views it as a game and batman knows that playing along is the only way to beat the joker. I never see any signs that batman enjoys it.
I remember when this movie came out the big things that people were talking about was Heath Ledger's performance. The other thing people were talking about was the practical effect they used for the semi truck scene. They actually had that stunt planned exact so that they actually flipped the entire truck and it slidding down the street to precisely where they wanted it to stop. The behind the scenes footage is around.
I was raised a Marvel fan, and didn't really appreciate the Batman story in my youth. That is mostly due to watching the campy Adam West series while stuck at grandma's over the summers. But, when Batman The Animated Series aired, you could see the shift in the flow of stories. Heath Ledger's Joker performance provided a similar change in programming. This performance was just spectacular. And, I don't know if others can see it, but it really feels like this Joker has changed villainy, or at least the presentation of villains, since. RIP Heath L. Thanks for the cinematic gold !
100% Recommend Gotham not only are the characters really fun and amazing but the depiction of Gotham is up there with the Tim Burton Movies. It has this cool timeless aesthetic similar to the Batman Animated Series or Arkham Games from featuring vehicles from the 1940s, 1950s, 1970s, and 1980s while also having a hybrid of fashion and technology. It's just a very nice show visually. I do like The Dark Knight but Gotham was very much just Chicago with GCPD slapped on the side of the police cars. Nolan wanted Gotham to feel like any city but that meant removing it's personality and identity so we kind of just ended up with Chicago while the more Art Deco meets Gothic designs were replaced with more Modern Corporate buildings. Much prefer The Batman 2022 and the Burton films in this regard.
Gotham is not a show to watch if you love DC. The entire series is a let down, they had something with season 2 but even that was still riddled with plot holes. There is just a lot of things wrong with Gotham, as big fan of DC comics and the DCEU, the show hurt my soul. Nothing about Gotham makes sense, it’s just a teenage drama at that point. The only thing worth watching in that show is just for Cameron’s character.
One detail I love about this movie is when Rachel says, "Bruce's penthouse is now the safest place in the city." Even though Harvey doesn't like Bruce, and even suspects they still have feelings for each other he still says, "Go straight there." He cares about her so much that he put her safety above everything else.

He, the newest of the tragic modern icons present us with a preview of something we'll never see. A fearless, extraordinary actor capable to fill up with humanity even the most grotesque of villains. His performance is a master class. Fortunately, Christian Bale's Batman is almost a supporting character. Bale is good but there is something around his mouth that stops him from being great. unpopular opinion but I prefer Batman Begins. Begins had the better Tone, Art Direction, and Gotham City but I like the story and characters of Dark Knight. It just feels more like a crime film with Batman in it rather than a Batman film. I also just feels like Batman took a trip to Chicago with how much this film just looks like Chicago they didn't even try to hide that. The Batman for example was film in Liverpool, Chicago, and Glasgow but it feels so much like Gotham City. Dark Knight Rises suffers from many of the same problems but overall they're good movies I just prefer Batman Begins.

My personal theory about this joker is he's ex-special forces. Some sort of commando that went and did dirty work for the government and got caught and tortured on one of his missions. The government turned on him and/or left him to die and that's when he became the Joker. Now he uses all his skills, connections and resources to bring down society and show everyone is an animal underneath. Who else but a top covert operative would have this unique blend of skills and not have popped up as a criminal before he became the Joker?
At 37:23 where you mentioned the bullet being recreated like in the games is cool because the games feel like they’ve taken influences from all the Batman movies or media one way or another like the detective mode you use in the Arkham games came from this film and the same goes for the other mechanics as well!
FYI's Scarecrow wasn't caught at the end of Batman Begins. Hence why he wasn't in jail. The part in the penthouse where Rachel was with the Joker, was the first time Maggie Gyllenhaal (not Katie Holmes) saw Ledger in his Joker character. She truly was afraid of him but the director thought the acting was so good he didn't stop it.

The Joker does see Batman as the undisputed King of Gotham. This is why he calls himself the Crowned PRINCE of Crime. But just like in medieval times this Prince test the King to keep him sharp or take his place.

Its joker twisted view of their relationship. i think that in all media not just in this movie. Joker is basically like a abuser gaslighting his vicitim into beliving there is a connection between them. Joker has somehow gaslighted a big portion of the fandom and even some of the comicbook authors into thinking him and batman are soulmates. The entire point of batmans fight against hum is to prove that they are not the same. Joker (wichever origin you take except the joachim phoenix movie but that is its own thing) had ONE BAD DAY and went into madness. Batman on the other hand had that bad day and while it did change him, he never went off the deep end. In his career as batman he had even more bad expiriences but always tried to do the right thing. That is why for me his and jokers relationship is purely onesided. Bruce is only freaked out by him because he cant see any reason in his action (but can at least in his other villains). He tries to keep him alive because he believes in the sanctity of human life and if possible wants to rehabilitate him. Joker cant understandt that and thinks his feelings are mutual

The problem is that it makes future writers who grow up on watered down versions midsunderstand the characters. Thats why i always advocate to make Movies as true to the main version of the character as possible, so that people get an understanding for the characters. If someone wants to experiment on character and make new stuff use the comics. For example while I like where the character is at now, I still dont like the way spiderman in the MCU was potrayed in the movies leading up to this. If you make mainstream movies then make the cahracter as close to the original as possible.

The story about Cleopatra makes me think that y'all should react to HBO's magnificent series 'Rome' (if you haven't already seen it, which I suspect you might've). It's only two seasons, it's wonderful all the way around, and Cleopatra is a really significant and one of the best parts of the second season.
Chleopatra didn't go to Rome like that. She appeared before Caesar like that. She had to be snuck into the city of Alexandria that way due to the fact that her brother/husband was at war with her. BTW; it most likely never happened. She may have been snuck into the city that way, but she wouldn't have went before Caesar rolled up in a rug. She was out to seduce Caesar. So she wanted to look her best. Being rolled up in a carpet in the desert heat would not have worked out so well with the heavy cosmetics Egyptians were known for wearing. Much of her life was greatly embellished.

You really need to watch the Batman quadrilogy from 1989 to 1997. Do not just watch 1989s "Batman" and 1992s "Batman Returns" like other channels do. You have to watch 1995s "Batman Forever" and 1997s "Batman and Robin" as well. There wouldn't be a Nolan Trilogy without "Batman and Robin".

The story about Cleopatra makes me think that y'all should react to HBO's magnificent series 'Rome' (if you haven't already seen it, which I suspect you might've). It's only two seasons, it's wonderful all the way around, and Cleopatra is a really significant and one of the best parts of the second season.

Chleopatra didn't go to Rome like that. She appeared before Caesar like that. She had to be snuck into the city of Alexandria that way due to the fact that her brother/husband was at war with her. BTW; it most likely never happened. She may have been snuck into the city that way, but she wouldn't have went before Caesar rolled up in a rug. She was out to seduce Caesar. So she wanted to look her best. Being rolled up in a carpet in the desert heat would not have worked out so well with the heavy cosmetics Egyptians were known for wearing. Much of her life was greatly embellished.

You really need to watch the Batman quadrilogy from 1989 to 1997. Do not just watch 1989s "Batman" and 1992s "Batman Returns" like other channels do. You have to watch 1995s "Batman Forever" and 1997s "Batman and Robin" as well. There wouldn't be a Nolan Trilogy without "Batman and Robin".
