I can see only chart design and format. there is no layout showing up. I can't do it.

This is a pretty old version now. But if you have the scatter plot - click on the chart. Then there is an option under the Home header called “add chart element”. Click that and go down to trendline. Hope that helps. You can google where these items are at with whatever version you are using. This is for a Mac 365.
