Exactly my thought, I'd actually consider that as a potential feature if I decide to make a game following this theme in the future. which I have considered before.
I'm REALLY new to game making (today is my third day actually) and tifo this favorite developer youtuber has been doing work with my other favorite developer youtuber haha. I like both of you because you don't just throw the code at me, you explain what each word does in the code
Looks great. Was going to participate in this one as my first game jam, but had a mental block over the theme and couldn't think of anything worth spending the weekend on. Good luck!
I swear, no matter what I do I always miss this jam. Set reminders, calendar events, etc. Nope, Only hear about them the week after when everyone is showing off their completed projects. We need more pre-awareness, lol..
Comments under this video is a pilgrimage place for all dev logs bloggers? 😄😄😄 As always, a great video and a wonderful game! Thank you for motivation!😊
The final boss idea is nice, but it would be cool if instead of defeating in one tap, you got to throw him against a scenario object to kill and then making him immune to basic melee hits so people would take a time to realize that xD
I don't know why, but the whole "your life is currency" thing reminds me of when I took a summer course on game making with Fusion when I was around 11 and some kid accidentally made his character create a copy of itself whenever you shoot, and these copies made their own copies. The result was a bunch of player characters scrolling across the screen, and whenever a projectile hit an enemy the player took damage. I forgot what he called it, but I'm pretty sure it was "Shooter 3: The Destruction". He couldn't use a graphic of a gun on his title screen, so he used an airgun.
Brackeys, I thought the exact same thing as well! I was very shocked to find out that the Unity Nav Mesh doesn't natively support 2D games which was baffling. Great Video!
You took a similar approach to the one we did with our game. We stuck with mouse control though. Also, we did ours in the jam with a team, while you did yours alone in the Compo, and you still had more stuff...
I could go SO much faster if I tried 2D! (Also if my vision would stop trying to quit on me) This made me excited to get back at it again! Thanks dude!
Your life is currency? That reminds me of my game where everything is tied to your health system in some way. You beat the snot out of enemies for recharges, use combos for more recharge and use abilities which take some of your hp but are more powerful or can transport faster, unlock new rooms and or secrets. This was pretty set in stone with the story and thematics but hey. I guess I'm not that original after all :D
Wow, you joined Ludum Dare too. I didn't know that. I joined as well with my group, but since this is our first LD, our game was a bit of a mess. Hahaha.
How did you add the Lens Distortion Effect? Could you explain it to me, or make a little tutorial on that? I really want to apply a Lens Distortion Effect in my 2D game but I don't know how.
Your life is currency. I was thinking a bank robber trying to escape with the most money as possible high score game with a fast paced side scroller map maybe. wish I knew more to try it out at the time with this theme
About the different room in one scene, could you do another video about that? I'm currently want to create a game almost like yours. Just having problem on switching scene and sometime it is slow. Question: if you create multiple room in one scene, do you create it on same coordinate? which mean the camera stick on one place. And only change the room. Or switching camera and player to another room in different coordinate?
I soooo want to make a game but I don't know where to start should i fully learn programming first? What language to learn? How to learn it? Idk anything about making a game nor where to start.
Hi Brackeys! I was wondering what that document was that you were outlining your game in? Do you have a specific methodology you usually take for brainstorming games? Thanks!
Good Job! You are the best one i've ever seen! but you need jussst a bit of a challenge doesn't you? I challenge you to make a Black Hole going around the orbit of another Black Hole! Lets se what you got! I know you can do it!
I love your videos !... I am new to game development. ... And I want to ask ...if you can make a video about the tools that you are using... I mean ... what are the best computer system to use in order to have a good result ...
i had a cs teacher, he was such a bad teacher and just copied off tutorials, im 100% sure he copied off one of your tutorials assuming it was his. i heard your voice from his computer once because he had the volume on. it was so funny. i didn't call him out, but that was simply amazing to hear your voice on his computer. who's the teacher now lmao
"Your life's currency"
EA: This should be easy
Lmao
NEARMUSICBEATS sorry, you need to get the ending first (costs $100) to activate the dlc
🤣
Rob Barron sorry, to get the ending you have to pay $1000.
pixel 105 sorry, to get to the ending you have to beat 10,000 enemies that cost 10$ each
Good job, I love the graphics! Had a lot of fun playing it :D
Omg....hello..When is the next devolg btw???
Well look who is talking here, haha dude.
Can't Wait For Your Next Devlog

Did this to satisfy @New Milo 's needs
Your life is currency, sounds like the movie "In Time".
Exactly my thought, I'd actually consider that as a potential feature if I decide to make a game following this theme in the future. which I have considered before.
Now I want Justin Timberlake as playable character
@@netplayer4765 unreal how much I laughed at that ⬆️
Wow, the game is kind of awesome! So nice you were able to participate in this one!

Hopefully we see you in the next one! It can be intimidating at first, but just go where a random thought takes you and you'll make something great
This smiling face makes my day everytime
Your enthusiasm made me re pursue my game development dream, which is why I pursue a programming course in the first place. thank you.

Amazing video by Brackeys
Zombies look like they have mustaches. A great design choice. Anyone with a mustache is obviously evil.

Love your videos, they‘re really supporting my education
That's awesome! Do you got to a game design school?

When I hear "life is currency" I think of a shop system where you buy stuff using your health.
Dani?

I was so hyped for this one! 😊
What an interesting idea! I think there should be more insentive to use the pentagrams though.

I've been waiting 1 year for this, now I wait again.

Nice work ! I also participated, it was a lot o fun !
It looks like the binding of Isaac 😍
That's great, I love your art style!
I participated in the jam but started from the second day 😂 (luckily managed to submit a playable demo)
Absjørn, you are great!

Wow. You should make a full version with more levels and stuff

Cool Game! Keep up the good work man!!! :D
I'm watching Brackeys since 60k subs and I'm really glad that now he has almost 800k. That you for your content :)
I saw another youtuber that did this! He made one where you shoot boxes and you use life to get upgrades!!
Dammit! I completely forgot about this! Now I have to wait until some until october.

That “pentagram” is actually a pentacle and means something completely different
Pentacle is another term for pentagram
he's a wizard... he should have a staff!
This is really cool I wish I could make something like this
Time is money?
Nope
Life is money
Money is money

Your life is currency. I was thinking a bank robber trying to escape with the most money as possible high score game with a fast paced side scroller map maybe. wish I knew more to try it out at the time with this theme
This theme reminds me of Outward’s mana system, where you have to permanently lose max health to get more max mana.
I love the art ♥️
Hey! I really enjoy your tutorials.
I too made a game for LD44, called BraveBelly.
Though I went with the #Deep approach haha.
why did i get a 2 minute unskippable ad
TheVukovic big rip
At that point I would have reloaded the page to get a different one hopefully.
the ending the best

The theme of this game jam reminds me of manual samuel

Reminds me of binding of isaac. I really enjoy that game.
For next time it would be cool to have a "Time Remaining" on screen

Does brackeys have a video on brainstorming a game and writing a game document? I would love one
Hi Brackeys! I was wondering what that document was that you were outlining your game in? Do you have a specific methodology you usually take for brainstorming games? Thanks!
I interpreted it as where your amount of money is also your hp.
Good Job! You are the best one i've ever seen! but you need jussst a bit of a challenge doesn't you?
I challenge you to make a Black Hole going around the orbit of another Black Hole!

I always like to see all the BTS of your games. It just sucks me in and doesn't allow me to leave the monitor.
