I think if you push it too far you'd probably have a heart attack or something. Sometimes I'm not even sure if I'm still me. I wonder if I'm an imposter who just kind of jumped on board when this body got revived, because a lot of my memories don't really feel like "mine". Also they had me in a room with a dying priest, and I couldn't figure out if I was controlling his speech or if something was just wrong with my brain, like deja vu, where my brain was just interpreting new stimulus as per-meditated thought. Anyyyyywho. Do drugs kids! It will prepare you for all the weird shit they'll do to you when you're old and being tortured in a hospital.

Without this principle you open the door to convict people for things that we made illegal since they did it. This is why its a good idea to not do something illegal even if it shouldn't be illegal.
Count Cristo why not just make it one way? Let the law be "If you were convicted of something that has since been made legal, all charges will be dropped."

So in this sense I could understand why they wouldn't enact retroactive justice, because their dealing still was harmful to society
