I don't understand the thing about families being torn apart? It's awful for the children, I know from experience what it's like to be separated from my parents. The thing is though, the parents are doing something illegal, so just like my parents they are being separated. It's just something that happens when parents do illegal things, you can't just not punish people because they have children.

Many convicted convicts are seperated from their children because they go to prison obviously but very few people care about that because it's just common sense. The only difference here is that the parents that were crossing the border were mostly deported back to their country but the kids stayed. That was the issue. If the parents were deported then the kids should've been along with them.

It doesn't matter if their parents did something illegal or not, the way children are being treated is immoral. That's the problem.
The difference is that the child of an inmate will typically have other family to stay with? The other parent, or grandparents, aunts uncles etc. The child isn't thrown in prison too just because their dad stole a sandwich. Like they're completely different things.
