Looking forward to the video where there's Hannah, Emil, Eric Karlsson Bouldering, Bouldering Bobat, Magnus, Storror, Josh Rundle, Catalyst and Louis, Anna Hazelnutt, and the Wide Boyz all together at once.
That last one where Nathan was trying the black and Emil was coaching him through it was super interesting, really insightful stuff. Also crazy how Emil can watch and so easily pinpoint and explain so accurately the specific things that Nathan is doing wrong. Very cool video overall
WOW EMIL can explain climbing REALLY GOOD. i have watched tons of climbing vids with explanations, but these ones really got to me! far better explanation than a lot of super super high level worldcupclimbers could give! sad thing im completely destroyed from my last session and need to wait a proper day, but im so psyched to incorporate these tips. for example i never heard someone say you should relax after taking a swing but before you set your foot. SOOO GOOD
Hope you have fun applying Emil’s wisdom to your next session. Nathan learned so much and it was so cool to see such quick progression as he understood Emil’s movement tips!
It's tremendously precious to have someone helping you to improve your climbing like this ;) By pointing out small adjustments you're not aware of by yourself. Like Louis, Emil does this in a very attentive way, demanding but in a very supportive and boosting way ;)
Shame about the injury Hannah! Hope it gets better soon. I'd be really interested to see you discuss the planned/in-progress rehab in-depth, whether that's with another creator or not. Great vid as always, Emil is always fun to watch and listen to and seeing Nathan "host" was great!
An rehab and training around injury video is in the works - I’m partnering with another channel on it and I’m pretty excited to share. Hopefully it will be useful to people going through injuries of their own and people who aren’t! ☺️
@@hannahmorrisbouldering just getting back to hard boulders after an A2 injury. Therapy putty has was really useful in combination with the weighted crimps that you're already doing. Would definitely recommend!
Thanks! Really appreciate it. I’m hoping it’s not too much of a time off climbing and I can join Emil and Nathan for a climbing session soon. Always cool to watch Nathan climb though, so I’ll just be doing that for a while 😀
oh no hannah! so sad to hear that you injured your a2 pulley. get well soon! anyway, so happy to see emil in your videos now!!! wooot!! he give such great tips for climbing. really love his climb style
Hi, Hannah, this video came at just the right time for me, to motivate myself to try harder and push my level. Emil is really excellent at analysing the technical and mental aspect of "trying hard" rather than "trying to try hard". Great job by yourself with the camera work. Edit: sorry to hear about the finger. Hope it gets better very soon, and you're back up on those walls.
That’s really great to hear. It was so great spending a session watching Emil and Nathan climb - I learned a lot even behind the camera! Finger is slow progress but progress so I’ll take that! Hope you have fun pushing yourself on some harder climbs! ☺️😎
I watch a lot of climbing content on YT, including Tutorials but the coaching towards the end of this is top tier. All the micro beta, try-hard, relax here to unlock your next level is not only super practical but downright inspiring. Content creators take note!
Hey Hannah, I just wanted to let you know that I just started working at my local gym now, and I'm pretty certain your videos (amongst a few other channels I follow) had a huge impact on that decission. Now I just need to get back to some form of regular bouldering, and I'll be back in shape in no time :) It's such a welcoming atmosphere and a joy to be there, be it as a job or in a sesh. And congrats on the Emil collab!
Lovely to see two of my favorite youtubers together! I think "deadpointing" with the foot in a coordination-style it's a super underrated skill! Can save a lot of energy but we usually don't train eye-foot coordination that much in climbing! Very nice video! Also, super interesting that you Emil have this over-analytical side that hinders performance during competitions. I would never have guessed!
Great advice regarding the progression mindset. I currently struggly with almost every V5 at my gym, but focusing on the small victories makes it an enjoyable process.
One of the best videos this channel has ever produced, my only complaint is I WISH IT WAS LONGER! Please more of this type of content, the details are so essential for people wanting to move from intermediate to advanced. Emil is an amazing teacher.
Wow thank you! You might be in luck - Nathan tried another yellow project where he figured out lots of small progressions. It’s full of some really great tips from Emil but was too long to fit into the final edit so there’ll be another episode coming soon - thanks for the kind words on the video!
@@hannahmorrisbouldering great news will look forward to the next video, I watched your video on Emil's channel, it's a shame you have tweaked a finger, the help he was giving you in that session will revolutionize your climbing, congrats!
this was really a great video. im a big fan of both Hannah and Emils channels! wonderful content and cool to see them collab on such an excellent topic. ive been climbing for quite a long time and this road block always comes when you hit a plateau and it was cool to see some of the ways to work through it from Emils and Nathans point of view. keep up the good work guys!
Dude I wish I could have Emil as a coach. I can relate to everything that he’s talking about as far as not being intuitive and needing to try over and over and film myself etc….Great video Hannah
I hope your finger is better soon Hannah 😊, and your rehab is going well. This video was really good fun to watch! ! Glad to see Nathan trying his hardest with all the blocks and Emil is a great teacher. I went to TCH Reading today, it had a lovely friendly atmosphere so definitely would go again!! 😊😃 thank you Hannah!
Such a great video! I want to find a way to learn to 'try hard' every session, at least on a few boulders, and learn the difference between when to relax and when to try hard. Really challenge myself to improve in the right ways. Emil really knows what he's talking about.
It's nice to see Emil mention some of the things that are harder / a struggle for taller climbers rather than always hearing about how being tall is great and there is exactly zero downsides.
Hey Hannah, struggeling with a pulley injury myself right now. Maybe you could make a video about your process? How did you get the injury, how was the diagnosis and whats the therapy?
Strained the A2 on my middle finger too a bit over a month ago despite being paranoid about overloading my fingers. Pulley injuries are frustrating! It will get better though, good job doing your rehab! 🙂
This video gives me a lot of hope because I'm not a talented or intuitive climber. Emil said he has to watch film and correct body position and movement after observation and I feel the same way. I see a lot of folks who move naturally but not me 😂
So sorry to hear you are injured, love the video tho! You may be doing so already but would highly recommend loading just the 1 finger at a time so your body doesn’t compensate with the uninjured fingers and you have a much better grasp on how much load the finger is ready to take so you can continue to increase the weight incrementally ❤
I wanna start a climbing channel simply to get coaching from people like Emil. I feel like he's a great coach and how else would I get this? Rock up to some outdoor boulder he's projecting?
Hearing Emil talk about climbers that are better than him and calling them freaks is wild given he is a freak of nature himself in terms of strenght and skill
As a 53 year old who has just started bouldering a month ago bouldering seems beyond my limits at the moment as I am very sore after each climbing section, and I thought I was fit.

Where did you get your rehab training from? Did you see any special doctor for it, because I also injured on of my fingers and don't really know what to do
On the topic of grades; if you do decide to try rock city in hull (the one with the whole room of slab haha), it's a different grading system there, I'd be interested to know if you feel like theres a difference to your usual gym at all! (whether that's grades or setters, I have no idea) It's blagged me before, switching systems & I'd love to know if it even effects more experienced climbers.
Would love to know how large Nathans and Emils hands are and how they feel it affects holds. Emils point about the difference a couple centimeters makes for his performance on small holds is interesting because it seems like he thinks its a strength thing but if your hands are larger than another climbers, you would have a smaller contact patch on your hand than them, no?
I'm not the best person to ask about not getting injured, as it seems I often am, but listening to your body when it's tired and fuelling properly are always the first things I try and keep consistent, followed by a session specific warm up and a decent level of consistency in pre-hab and maintenance so that I'm not asking too much of my body when it's not used to it!
@@hannahmorrisbouldering thanks for answering, maybe it's the more session specific warm-up I need. I have just had a lot of overuse injuries, so working at my limit in a non-controlled way is scary to me.
