Not ur daughter looking like something from a horrow movie ( in nicest way possible ) 😂😂 the way she stood there and the light shining yellow in her eyes then the laugh as she walks away
I was in my bathroom one day, and my phone was sitting on the counter. I reached for it but slipped and it fell into the sink. Then, like a cartoon it proceeded to swish around the basin, pop back out, hit the wall, fall on the tank of the toilet, slide into the edge of the bowl and finally ride the outside and right into the water. I was stunned watching it happen thinking, "There's no way that's where it will end up." Of course once it did I had to dive in after it. Moral of the story is your wife is wrong, the toilet seat should be down. That or don't bring your phone with you everywhere I guess. Decide which one is harder to achieve on your own.
Some people might find this corny, but accidents do happen and it's nice to learn (from someone else's experience) what's recoverable and what's not! Great new logo!
I can totally see myself doing something like this. I'm pretty clumsy at the best of times. Really cool experiment watching you restore something someone could totally have done by accident. Not necessarily cornbread batter, but perhaps other sticky gooey stuff like fruit juice or custard. Thanks for the laugh while watching the skit in the beginning and the satisfying clean. 👍
I'm happy to see you using makeup brushes I feel like they're not used as much as they could be in restoration! I recommend a fan brush for quick dry dusting and a small eyeshadow or concealer brush for a bit more firmness and to get into corners better 😊
6:09 the first time I tried to take the battery out of a joy con I was following ifixit's guide and it said to push a spudger up under the battery to pop it out. Mine was quite stuck like yours. Well in spudgering it I managed to break off the housing the battery snaps into, rendering my motherboard useless. 😔 I later watched another video that said to gently pull on the cable to pop it out. I've now taken out about half a dozen batteries that way and it's worked for me. Probably not recommended, but the recommended way broke my motherboard (to be fair I was probably doing it wrong, but still very disappointing). It was a blessing in disguise though I suppose because I've since bought and fixed some slightly broken joy con (drift, sticky buttons) and turned them into 2 shell swaps. I have several other sort of broken ones ready to do shell swaps for some friends. It was actually pretty fun! Being new to this I have a couple of questions about joy-con repair/cleaning if anyone is willing to help me out. 1. Tips on unplugging the battery? Is pulling gently really that bad? I'm just so nervous to use tools on it now, the motherboards are not the cheapest to get! 2. In the video 99% ipa is used. However, I have read ipa that high can strip the coating off the joy con shells, so instead I've been using 70% for everything. Is 70% bad? Is there more a chance it'll hurt internal components? I was using it to both clean shells and fix joystick drift. 3. Any tips on getting the vibration motors unplugged? I find them hard to get out, and sometimes when using my tweezers I scrape the plastic connection bits. It hasn't seemed to hurt anything, but it does make me nervous. 4. How do I know if a screw is stripped? I know stripped means it's slipping when you turn it, but like with the tri wing on the back of the joy con, is seeing any silver bad and mean I should trash them indtead of reusing them? I hate to trash working screws or have to go out of my way to buy more, but also I do not want my joy con stuck closed because I used a stripped screw. Thanks to anyone who's read this far and thanks Restorish for another great video! I hope this video helps someone who really gets into a similarly messy situation. And I really enjoy the family/pet cameos haha.
I just lost a long, detailed reply to an internet crash while sending. It was brilliant too. Probably could have won a Pulitzer. Ill give it a shot again here :) First, I appreciate your comment. Others may chime in here with more insight, but here are my thoughts on your questions. Also sorry to hear about your battery housing issue! I have never had that happen, but can only imagine how frustrating that would feel. 1. Every other pair of Joy-Cons I have disassembled I have used the pull-up-on-the-wire method you described. These ones were stuck for some reason so I pried them loose. 2. I have only used 99%, but I have seen a number of others use 70%. I think both are fine. I haven't had any damage caused, but I also wipe off the surfaces of plastic with a microfiber clothe lightly spritzed with a plastic-safe, gentle glass cleaner after using IPA. I may have to try experimenting with 70% so that I can speak to this better in the future. In my experience it is pretty hard to hurt the internal components while cleaning just from exposure to liquid. As long as it dries out in a reasonable amount of time it is pretty safe. The danger is combining electricity with water, so as long as things are powered down and the battery is disconnected any solution of IPA shouldn't pose a risk. 3. I use needle-nose pliers to grip and gently wiggle the male part of this connector free, and I just wiggle loose the body of the rumble pack thing with my fingers. 4. I tend to use a screw if it is usable, and only change it out if it is beyond use. It is a personal judgement call, and I can appreciate your nervous caution about getting one stuck. Again, I appreciate your comment and questions. Good luck!
@@RestorishOfficial oh no, not an internet crash!! That's so frustrating. Thanks for giving such a thorough reply, twice even!! These are all really helpful thank you so much! I think I may have been using tweezers on the vibration motor not pliers, so I'll have to give that a shot next time. These tips are all helpful though, thank you so much! 😊
@@RestorishOfficial He used to get mad in older videos when Alex suggested to use K5 Pro. Because it's hard to clean up from in between small surface mount components. Also doesn't provide as good of a thermal interface as high performance thermal pads. In your case, the K5 Pro is on a flat surface, making it easy to clean up, once it needs to be replaced.
Man!! Are you sure that at the start of the video, it was your daughter standing still, staring at you, with those glowing eyes, with that laugh at the end? You sure she was not still sleeping in her room, and that was someone else? Cause that was creepy! Ok, jokes aside, i'm pretty sure she was like "what the hell is my dad up to at this hour?! RUclips is getting into his head..."

Why

Why
How was her response to “I’m making cornbread” in the dark not, “why?”

Obviously, I enjoyed the entire cleaning portion. But with all due respect, your daughter stole the show here.

Don't know if I would ever be playing my switch while baking, but I do enjoy a good cleaning video
Love the fact he made a from scratch pan of cornbread mix for this video!! 8 out of 10 for just that!

Yep, that was the point of what I was trying to do here. Glad you liked the skit, lol

Corn bread batter....wow...you're a wild man
Very satisfying cleaning as usual.☺
Very educational. I will be sure to keep my switch away from batter.
Cornbread OLED got me!
I don't think so. Any liquid could be damaging to electronics, including cornbread batter. I think it got ruined as soon as it hit the batter.
damn the start was amazing HAHA but wasn't expecting you throw it on purpose!! Disgusting mess but amazing job!
Great video: super informative

8:10 Unfortunately the regular blue Dawn recently changed its scent and now i can't stand the stronger odor. Switching until they change it back.
First off, who eats cornbread by itself? 😂 Second off, did you intentionally setup your daughter to look like the ghost from The Grudge? 😂
lol haven't seen it
i just had to clean dog poop off of my brothers switch, it was basically this but smelled really bad and required a lot fo ipa
Wow, that’s so much worse!

I understand "repairing things for personal use", but I don't get "destroy it on your own and make it run again".
I appreciate the feedback and am definitely taking it into consideration. It was an experiment both from a cleaning perspective and a RUclips one.
sorry they be know way would i drop a switch in that just to make a video in case something goes wrong and the switch will never work again
I can appreciate that. It made me nervous.
