Do yourself a favor and mix some dykem and alcohol and fill the intake ports to see if they leak into the chamber. You can also see how far the valve job is off the edge of the exhaust valve. It should be quite a bit closer to the edge. The set I got had to go back and I wish I'd have just gotten a refund because the valve job they REDID was only a 3 angle (NOT 5) and was sunk horribly. I'd have been MUCH better off spending a couple hundred more for a set of Brodix ST 5.0 or similar. I also had to replace the spring package because what came on the ProMaxx were WEAK!! Just an FYI. Good luck on your build.
I bought 2 sets of ProMaxx heads this year and both builds turned out great. I buy them with just valves and I finish them. First set was sbc maxx 200 as cast 2.02 x 1.5 the 2nd was BBC shocker 370. The heads were beautiful, nice smooth castings and the cnc`d ones outstanding. The only thing I saw was no heli-coils anywhere, but the price was right. Both were pump gas motors and both made good power. In fact I`m going to buy myself another set of those shockers for a 598cid I`m working on now. Perhaps you just got a bad set.
@@edpetrocelli2633 I doubt it. I've since been through similar issues with customer supplied heads. Bad valve jobs, seats that weren't fully seated, miss-matched valve locks, seals not fully installed, springs pressures all over the place,, metal "chips" all over and throughout the castings (including under the spring cups!!). No I've had my experiences with them. I'm done. Good luck to you and whoever else wants to roll the dice. I hope your project works out as you'd like!
I've used FelPro gaskets for over 40 years in both stock and HiPro applications Great success. What problem have you had?? I had a parts house that I sold them and a machine shop that I used them in all my builds.
The gasket I used came with the fel-pro gasket set. Since I have to pull the intake to replace a bad lifter I bought the 1262 so I’ll be able to compare them.

Have the exhaust gaskets upside down 🤔
U so funny. I flipped the heads before I bolted the headers on 😎
I really like those stock heads. I’ll have to check my newest project to see what it has.
Nice new heads!
Dont all factory 289 heads have 18 mm spark plugs?
Yup. And they required a 13/16” socket. I don’t think Ford went to the smaller plug until the Cleveland heads came out. More room for valves I guess.
Small plugs 74
Dont use felpro!!!
What would you prefer to use Tom? Something better to use? Thanks

Any engine assembler should examine every part meticulously. Including gaskets.🙄
Promaxx paper work that came with my 9175 heads called for a 1262 felpro gasket I wonder why ??

What part number are the heads?
Part #9175, designed for hydraulic roller lifters.
I have the same heads, I swapped springs on mine and run a solid lift
