Tangram Shopping Mall looks nice and spacious. The food hall is very modern and hip with plenty of options, so I can understand the higher prices. Thank you for sharing this video, AK! 🤗
AK, you always find the most interesting shopping malls and food courts! I hope all of the businesses are successful. Thank you for taking us to Tangram.
Thanks for posting. I like that you paused at some of the restaurant menus 😋 Like you mentioned... Pricey side. I'd like to visit when more food businesses are open.
As an old school native New Yorker, Malls are for the suburban Midwest. We did have shopping centers such as the green Acres mall but each store was independent. From the play world where I got my micronauts, Shogun warriors and six dollar man action figures too Mays, Gerzts and Alexanders for clothing as well. One great place in the early to late 80's was QPs shopping center. I got a ton of Japanese giant robot toys from there. The individual shopping in old NYC was the best. The whole city was a vibrant shopping district, no need for indoor shopping prisons. We only had one Chinatown with incredible food, 3 different movie theaters where one could watch Kung Fu movies straight from hong Kong in the original Cantonese. The shopping there was incredible as well I can't begin to tell you. This mall looks like a sterilized version of something I would see in Singapore. The gentrification has hurt NYC culturally, spiritually and financially. I just saw the completion of the Brooklyn tower absolutely atrocious. Who has 1 million to 14 million for an apartment I have no idea. I am happy I grew up in the time I did in my old beloved New York, unfortunately I have no desire ever to return. New York is a shadow of its former self. Living in Japan suits me fine.
Such a cool mall i especially love the food court 12:40 and especially that Angry Birds section 😎I could buy something from there if they weren’t so expensive🤔hmmm Thank you for sharing this cool experience with us A K🙂👍!!
We stopped by this new mall a couple of times this summer. The food court was very busy on the weekends. The mall was, I think, for the college-aged kids to take their dates to impress with their pricey venues. The open concord in the middle where open up to skylight, I think, wasted a lot of space with different levels and ramps, which it broke away from the formal way of American mall layout. Not to mention the cost of cooling or heating in the giant volume of space for the summers or winters. We ended up back to lunch and dine in the basement food court of New World Mall.
That was my take on this mall too. So much space not used; rather strange for NYC where I thought a foot of space was very costly and if not used, non-productive.
@jeahavvalentin980 O my dear, during the 80s, 90s, into 2000s Flushing was a night from today's. It was also very crowded but a poor Flushing. Today, it is flashed with new money and wealth from newly young Chinese to Flushing, and they spent their wealth. That's how these Chinese developers built these malls, high-end luxurious residential condos and apts who are banking on these Chinese newcomers to a vibrant Flushing.
Interesting and very luxe especially how most aren’t certain of the future of malls. Most malls in the US are closing. I guess there’s always so, where for the families living upstairs in the condos to go to. That area of flushing is always busy so they will probably do well. I used to take the 7 train to that flushing stop and bus to my job in College Point snowy days Non snow, I drove.
Wow great place. I’ll have to try it. Honestly if it weren’t for your video I would have never known it was there. I pass by there all the time. Don’t know how people are going to know about it.
Ak, nice video of flushing & Tangram food court. Tangram is like the food courts you see in Shanghai ,futuristic, nice bakeries , and lots of nice art work. Ak one day you should also do a walking tour of Sky view mall😁
having traffic on weekends only from families with lots of $$$ to spend is not going to sustain this mall especially with current economic conditions in NYC
Nice mall but to attract and keep customers and bring families with children, the mall needs lots more comfortable public seats, benches, sofas, dining tables, lounging rest areas, and free indoor children's playground.
@j.s.6654 Don't you think parents with children would want to have seats while children play? What about grandparents who need to rest? How about international shoppers who buy 3 or 4 full suitcases full of items? They all need to rest after 4 hour shopping trips. To survive, malls need to attract and keep families, kids, grandparents and international buyers. Feel free to disagree.
Doesn't look too busy those food places I've been there before. Angry Birds looks a little ridiculous.. and they need to get Häagen-Dazs. they need to get some known franchisees in there.. those small little food vendors are not pushing out food too much
4:22 Chinese restaurant menus continue to be a great source of entertainment. For instance, clams are $9.99 but if you want them *fresh* that’s an extra five bucks. If you’re OK with smelly, mushy, past-expiration-date clams you don’t have to pay that extra fee. I can think of quite a few people who could use some “smart brain” and I’m sure you can too. The “kung fu potato” sounds scary-I don’t want to try to eat something that is better at martial arts than I am. Though, it also sounds like a Mr. Potato Head decorated up to look like Bruce Lee, which could be funny. I also like how, mixed in with all the complex fancy types of meat, seafood, etc., there is just “frog.” “I’ll have the thousand layer beef osmium.” “Give me the crispy grass carp slices.” “I want the frog. Yeah, just plain old frog. No I don’t particularly care what kind of frog, or what part(s) of it, or how it’s prepared.” Also, while I *do* know what a geoduck is, I suspect that to someone who doesn’t it sounds maybe like a Pokemon. It’s actually a clam that sadly is neither a duck nor an earth elemental.
In Asia, indoor malls are still wildly popular. So I guess it would make sense that malls like this one are popular for Asian people in America as well....given that this is located in an Asian neighborhood of Flushing.
The new mall is certainty offer some shopping opportunities for the locals & some tourists especially the food court section...the TSM is strategically located at Flushing Queens...the Angry birds establishment is a must to try...pity about the car parking fares, so take the sub way trains 🚆 instead. Thanks AK for showing us around the mall....at least we know we wouldn't be there for another 6 months or so...until more shops are opened by then 🎉😂
This mall is modeled after the malls in China(the developer is a Chinese company), most of which are very larger with a plethora of restaurants, theaters, and shops, (sometimes as tall as 10-12 stories) I hope more malls like this are built around the US.
oh wow this looks amazing! Thanks for showing it. I’m adding it to my NYC list!
You're welcome, you should check it out for sure!
I loved seeing all those foods 🎉
Much appreciated!

I agree, it's a very nice space and a great addition to Downtown Flushing!
Nice Hidden Gem, I'll have to check it out when I'm back in NYC.
AK, you always find the most interesting shopping malls and food courts! I hope all of the businesses are successful. Thank you for taking us to Tangram.
it's very much modeled after the malls in China, which are actually much larger and cooler.
Much appreciated, it's definitely a very interesting shopping mall
Kids must love it there!
I'm not sure if it will be good for children, there's a swimming school inside though which looks like it's geared for them
This place is fantastic! Thanks for the tour!

Love the new look for a food hall. It it does have very Asian vibe with all the Neon lights very classy design.
It's a very different mall than what I'm used to seeing in America.
I love it!!

I could not agree more. Moved to Florida.
@@GoodfellasNYC I completely understand your motivation for leaving. I do miss some good cannolis, lox on a bagel, Papaya King, and knishes.
@breakingdragon22 not only did I leave, I escaped from new york.

I enjoyed this mall but shared a lot of the same concerns you have. I'm not sure how sustainable this mall will be to operate.
definitely checking this out in the city!! Thanks
Nice place..
Flushing Queens is my old neighborhood Action Kid I miss it there enjoy your day😊
I use to live in Flushing Queens too back in the 1980's when I was a kid

Hopefully it will succeed especially with the food options. Cater more to the older crowd with bars, nightclubs and restaurants especially at night.
Nyc is truly a mmorpg server i love it! 🖤🖤🖤
love beach towns ... thinking of an upgrade
This looks serene in my eyes. 👍🖱

Wow! Cool place! Looks very nice!💕
Looks beautiful, can’t wait to go!❤️
Cool place! Adding to my nyc bucket list✅
and the theater there is awesome, shows a lot of cool Asian films that people wouldn't see in other theaters.
I think it's a branch of the revolving sushi place at the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst.
That's pretty cool
WOH! Tai Er Fish even in NYC in Flushing.
I would luv ❤️ 😍 to visit ak with all that variations of Asian food to try
the building looks straight out of somewhere in Seoul very nice
That's cool!
Coocoocachoo I think is from the song Mrs Robinson by Simon and Garfunkel from the movie

if there’s cheap food options or a supermarket it would last long
I would like to know, where to get the bean filled sesame balls without to eat a whole menu first, anyone know a place in NYC?
Find any dim sum restaurant, they would have it!
Everybody knows Action Kid.
hows that RTX 3090? i have the 3060
Was it amazing?
Nice mall but to attract and keep customers and bring families with children, the mall needs lots more comfortable public seats, benches, sofas, dining tables, lounging rest areas, and free indoor children's playground.
Or you can get fit and not need so many benches. Maybe consider bringing a cane or a wheelchair

Any security guards in the Mall..?????
Is the game tangram still popular in China?
It's a modern-day Chinatown!

Yes of course NY has its own goid nice side minus abuse if that can be contained

Wow a building in Flushing that doesn't have a massage parlor.
Surprised anyone is opening new malls anymore. Out in the suburbs all the malls and movie theaters are going out of business
In Asia, indoor malls are still wildly popular. So I guess it would make sense that malls like this one are popular for Asian people in America as well....given that this is located in an Asian neighborhood of Flushing.
most Asian malls do better because people actually go for there daily necessities not just to shop
Who goes to NYC?
Yep, this is where all the rich chinese in nyc spend there money now. Flushing getting gentrified like a mofo😂
if it weren't for the chinese flushing wouldve still been a dump
