Really digging your ASO, also that round pipe is actually pretty damn ingenious for drawing out your stock.

Drawing a file backward instantly damages the beveled cutting edges, use a quality file and take care of it as you would a precision instrument, only use moderate pressure and store them in wooden, soft plastic, oiled leather, or synthetic canvas to avoid contact with hard surfaces when storing, never set, store, or strike a hard surface with a files work surface of it will be damaged, use a file card after filing softer metals to avoid galvanic corrosion from electrolysis. Annealing is contradictory to your initial purpose (I assume) a good properly handled file is less cost, labor, and time extensive than the annealing, re-shaping, and re- - re-finishing of the blade.

Forge scale is really hard on files. I put the steel in vinegar for a few hours and wire brush it off. Your file probably just got dull. Can't wait until the project is finished.

+Phil Baumhardt I'm just glad I could help. Also look at the 4x4 anvil from old world anvils. It's cheap and is very handy. They can also make one up to 1ft long if you need a heavier anvil. That of course would cost more. If I still had my contact I would have been able to get you one that was 6x6x10 in 4140 for less than $50.

Dylan Lewis , some prefer the absence of power tools after the metal hits the forge so it is actually an authentic hand made original piece. that includes drawing, shaping, and shearing,as well as filing, beveling, honing, and polishing. the increase in it's personal value is worth the extra labor

You know I've never seen that before a video of that just got interesting then all the sudden and ends it's normally the other way around you see most videos are boring for a long period of time so like a video that has good content for maybe 3-4 minutes will be 15-20 minutes long your video was short and sweet then it all just got ripped once you started did you enjoy it
