This is the video I needed for a long time! Great, simple explanation of parts needed to build a suppressed AR.
🙌 We're glad it helped, feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Step one buy integrally suppressed upper
Step two slap it on a cheap PSA lower
Step three go full send
That's exactly what I did with a Radical 10.5 integrated suppressed upper and PSA lower. 3 years later new match trigger, suppressor enhanced BCG, silent capture buffer and new CH. It runs.
Integral systems can be awesome, no doubt. Glad you're liking yours.
@HoagieHeadlock what if I already have a complete psa ar pistol
Lot of great info!

Awesome Video!!

Awesome video
Thank you!
Just great....Now I have to rebuild my rifle....lol great video.
A silencer will run great on your stock rifle, but if you want extra performance and even an even better shooting experience, tuning can really elevate your weapon system.
Great, quick overview to get us started.
Thats the goal!
Pretty sure the bolt travel on a carbine, A5, and rifle length is all the same. The extra buffer tube length is taken up by the same amount of extra buffer
JP Enterprises' captured spring system is a must.
I can not stress how nice it is to not hear and feel the twang.
I like my vltor
@@US2A I just watched your March 2023 'unboxing' vid. Got any 'first impressions' or other testing videos?
I do loves me some data!
@@hateferlife no data, did a video or 2. On a 5 or 5.5 inch 556 it was great. I didn't I want to try one on a rifle though.
I heard those kind of design are prone to failure?
Shove some aeroshell 64 in a stock buffer setup and try em side by side. You'll realize that captured springs over complicate a really simple issue
I’ve had good luck with just a h3 buffer and stronger springco spring. Several thousand rounds through both my Geissele 11.5” and BCM 14.5” without any suppression related issues.
Nice, heavier buffers help a lot with slowing down the bolt and keeping it locked up longer.
I have the dead are San tan and I love it works great on my 300 blackout my 5.5 and hopefully my 9 when I get it
The Dead air Sandman is an awesome silencer, but beware it is not rated for 9mm.
Which suppressor are you using?
Ejection pattern was perfect? I'd say 3 o'clock is perfect...
4 o'clock is the preferred ejection pattern not 3 o'clock!!!
The guy in this video is a moron!!! First the A5 buffer tube is pointless with a JP SCS!!! The A5 buffer tube is too long for the JP SCS unless you use the spacer that comes with it. The A5 should only be used with a RIFLE length spring and buffer. Second a suppressed AR rifle ejecting at 2 o'clock is not the perfect ejection position like he says. It's over gassed and has a hard recoil!!! The 4 o'clock position is the preferred ejection position! All the rifles in the video are all over gassed!!! You guys need to get a clue on how to tune a suppressed AR rifle!!! I can't believe that you guys build suppressors and don't know how to tune a AR rifle!!! That is mind blowing!!! Just use a standard mil spec buffer tube, leave the regular spring in the JP SCS with the 2 tungsten weights and a regular weight and then turn your gas setting down a lot more until your ejection pattern is a 4 o'clock. That is how mine is set up and it runs like a dream! It shoots flat and soft and with little blowback and I'm using an old Surefire RC1 suppressor. My advise is if you are going to run a suppressor then you need to tune your rifle for running with the suppressor and leave it on all the time. People need to stop taking it off to shoot occasionally because its too heavy or for whatever reason crap too!!! Your suppressor should only come off your gun when you clean it!!!

Depends. It’s a balance between suppressed and unsuppressed.
If he wanted to tune it every time he took the suppressor off 3oclock would be the goal.
If he’s tuned it to balance both, it may be 2 o’clock for suppressed, 4 o’clock unsuppressed

Armaspec captured spring is a cheaper option to the JP springs and is also really, really good. I've used both. Cannot overstate how amazing these options are. Not just twang, but with the Armaspec SRS multi-stage spring specifically, it's significantly smoother and a much nicer recoil impulse.
Nice! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Price on the Suppressor then tax stamp price then the wait begins may take up to 2 yrs before you can install it on your rifle
@@sdoaker nah. Generally 12-14 months worst case scenario. I've had one that took 3 months. I currently have 2 at a 12 months. It's all over the place, but I've never seen a 2 year without requiring a refile
Man, I can’t believe Will is doing this video. This is awesome.
Will is the man! We're lucky that he's local.
Love that charging handle but it absolutist does not stop gas from getting in my eyes
It should make a big difference compared to mil-spec, but if the gun is severely overgassed it wont completely fix that.
@SilencerShop true. I don't have an adjustable gas black on it so that might help
@@James-cr5mc adjustable block is really all you need for a suppressed rifle. everything else is just comfort food.
Not possible certain states of the USA…. But nice video sorry for the question you competition shoot? I see a Eotech with offset red dot is that for plnking or competition shooting.
Currently legal in 42 states, and we're fighting to regain silencer ownership rights in the rest of the states!
@@SilencerShop thank you we need them out here
How does a suppressor effect accuracy? Considering one for nighttime coyote hunting. Less annoying to farm owner and neighbors...imo. Great channel. Subbed.
Most hunters report having better shot-to-shot accuracy with a silencer, IE, follow up shots are made easier due to less recoil and less barrel rise.
@@SilencerShopGreat to hear. Thanks for response. Looking forward to more SilencerShop content. Stay safe out there.
You as well!
Mmmm ucwrg stuff😮
😉
The Radian charging handle doesn’t do anything for gas coming back. It’s a good charging handle in general, but the gas reduction claim is snake oil. The SilencerCo one is the only charging handle that makes an obvious improvement to gas.
Interesting! We've seen good results with the Radian and SiCo!
Im Sold on the Can, A Must have, If you hog hunt in the Dead of night. BUT, I Really would like to try A Thermol Rifle scope.
Totally agree, silencers are a must.
Thermals are awesome for low light shooting, we use them for hunting quite a bit.
I just have to say that using JP SCS in an A5 buffer tube makes NO sense. JP SCS requires a spacer to run in an A5 tube that makes it just as long as the standard carbine length tube. Also there is no "longer travel" in an A5 system, even with its standard buffer and spring setup.
You're correct, its longer travel time, not longer distance.
Not with a JP SCS @@SilencerShop 😜
When I first got into AR15’s, I thought I’d want to suppress them and found piston guns were better than direct impingement for cleanliness and sound at the shooters ear. I went with Adams Arms for the majority of my AR15 and AR10 collection and also have a PWS and Sig Rattler that are piston driven as well. You can even buy piston kits that have adjustable gas blocks to turn your DI gun into a piston gun.
Do not buy a piston kit for your DI ar. Just buy a Piston ar. Both of the kits on the market have multiple issues and aren’t really rated for duty use
@@alexmiller5796 which kits? Adams Arms even? The complete uppers and guns have been flawless for me.
@@RangeToyz both the Adams and superlative. Maybe built from factory is better but I’ve seen a lot of issues with the kits personally. I’m one person though so my input isn’t the best
You can still use adjustable gas blocks on a DI guns. Problem with those is many times to adjust it requires some kind of tool and toolless stuff like riflepseed just look werid. I dont know why some companies like Geisselle or DD didin't come up with AGB for DI system already, with their own line of handguards with cutout piston style toolles adjustment feature like PWS or MCX from Sig.
@@alexmiller5796 sounds like they should be installed by a gunsmith. When I got the new AARS handguard for my AA P2 308, I brought it to Curt’s Discount Shooters Supply. It came with a different barrel nut and however it was, they left out some bushing or washer or something on the piston for a correct fit. It runs flawless now, just as before.
Sub- sonic ammo is critical. Ammo I use doesn't allow for carrier cycling. Sucks but runs like a pellet gun. What ammo are you running in the video?
For 5.56 guns we run supersonic ammo, generally 55 grain M193, we don't like to oversell performance by using specialty ammo.
Form 9mm, .22lr, and 300BLK, we use subsonic as those are common loadings for those calibers.
A properly tuned piston upper is an easy way to reduce gas near the shooter, among other benefits.
Adds weight, adds a proprietary part, adds reciprocating mass, also can be less reliable once they get dirty.
@@TheEDCTribe only the last one is a real issue go to the gym
@@kujokage4611 they’re all sub optimal
@@kujokage4611Weight matters when your gun isn’t just sitting in a safe buddy.
@@Shane10871 if your gun is too heavy for you you have a issue which you can solve by not being weak
Why use an A5 tube with silent capture spring? The spring uses a spacer so the extra length is wasted.
Exactly what I thought too! Kind of a dumb senseless thing to do!!! Of course this is coming from someone that doesn't know how to tune a rifle seeing how all the rifles are all over gassed in the video!!! Did you catch the part where he says 2 o'clock is perfect??? LMAO.
We're trying to give advice to everyone, A5 is an excellent system for those who dont want to use a SCS.
The Radian Charging Handle is by far the worst charging handle at gas mitigation. It doesn’t properly seal around the top of the upper receiver, allowing gas to escape directly into your face. The Geissele SCH and Silencer Co charging handle are far better. Also, if you’re running an adjustable gas block, wouldn’t it make more sense to use a lighter buffer and spring? It would require less gas to cycle the weapon and since you can restrict the gas with the adjustable block that would seem more ideal
No, the goal is to keep the bolt locked in battery so that barrel pressure can drop, so a heavier buffer is more desirable for most setups.
umm. how is an A5 longer travel? that's limited by the bolt carrier. if that's what it did, the gas key would be smashing the back of the receiver and it would most definitely not be "smoother shooting"
Longer time to cycle, not longer travel. It’s worded weird wrong, but that’s how the A5 works.
You're correct. The A5 provides a longer time to cycle, not longer distance traveled. Thank you for clarifying.
Your linktr URL is not working.

Hard to trust this guy if he doesn't even realize a silent capture spring in an A5 tube is useless
We used the A5 because its beneficial for most folks, we opted for the JP spring and spacer, but the A5 has great benefits if you're not using a SCS.
IMo nowdays every ar15 no matter if it is piston or DI or Ar18. It should have adjustable gas block...

Don't think for one second that you can use an adjustable gas block for your SHTF rifle. This is a build for playing around.
Good video over all
Disagree. Military service rifles all over the world use adjustable systems, if they’re tuned correctly there is no issue.
I have thousands of rounds through AGBs that I haven't adjusted since setting them up and my ejection patterns haven't changed. You think you're going to shoot that many rounds in your SHTF scenario, like herds in the walking dead? I trust quality AGBs since they haven't failed me yet.
