    MP cards are good for your characters that don't have Meditate. More MP=More Finishers.
    But you also get MP for attacking and being attacked. Having Counter Attack weapons, and Pincer on a unit can help with MP generation, while also spreading more damage around.

    You said it with “take advantage of status effects”, but this is excruciatingly true. Battles become so, SO much easier when you’re stunning big groups of enemies or charming units in the back line.
    Also I’ve noticed some debuffs are incompatible with each other, such as poison and sleep. You also can’t recruit anyone who’s terrified of you, for obvious reasons lmao

      DMG was certainly more important in the PSP version, but due to archers no longer being absolute monsters on the battlefield, you have to come up with strategies that aren't just brute force. Glad debuffs are a go to now

    bonus tips > +weapon augments (from earrings or heavenly general weapons) add up to your bomb damage.. so.. you could equip a 1h Sword or Dagger (or even a Bow) on a Ranger plus the earring to reach 90 lvls on said weapon and throw bombs for 700 ish dmg. (that dmg isnt modified by enemy defense... but does from dragon scale, phalanx and golem gordian)
    could do the same with beast tamers and blowgun...
    Starfall and Heavenly Judge can exorcise undead units, both if they are stilled and if they were gonna be so with that attack. (so either kill em with those, or exorcise with those).
    that opens up some mage classes that can use Draconic Spells open up for Exorcism duty, another thing why clerics ain't needed later on...
    about status effects.. ninja passives (stun, silence and poison on hit) are not just for melee attacks despite the tooltip.
    try em with your preferred blowgun for double status effect (but from afar).
    All bosses in game can be slowed. have your highest MND character have torpor to inflict em on em for an easy ride against bosses.
    Both flying and TEleporting (Sidhe ring or shoes) prevent you from falling onto a pit. Float doesn't (so fairies and gremlins can be pushed into those).
    even so, a leadened flying character will also die from falling. so Teleport > Fly.. but you won't be able to reach really high places like a flying character.
    Every special skill that guarantees a critical strike (i.e. Mighty Strike) will make the asociated weapon debuff to be inflicted always, also works for ranged (xbow,bow and rifle)
    Bonus Bonus > If you let Donnalto Die when you had to rescue him, you'll instead get Felicia, who has 3 less RT, making her the best non-generic cleric you got (aside from Olivia)
    got a lot more lol...
    great video, sure it will help lot of new ppl playing the game for the first time ^^

    The other tip for tanky bosses is debuffs. You can Breach and Weaken pretty much everything with items. If you can lob these from a distance, even better. Even then, many bosses can be paralysed, poisoned or silenced.
    Also, collecting your own cards can even the score. Have Canopus zoom around getting 2-3 melee cards and by the time you've breached the boss his finisher is ready to demolish.

    Something to add is battlefield control can be a huge help especially because you are often outnumbered. By blocking up choke points or cutting off flanking enemies you can greatly swing the odds in your favor. Doing something as simple as slowing a flanking party with a 2 guys with rampart then committing the entire rest of your force to crushing one side before coming to back up the other team can make fights where you are massively out numbered quite easy. The blocking party doesn't have to kill the flankers just get in the way and survive and the number of enemy turns that can be eaten up trying to slog through 2 guys with rampart that are intentionally positioning to stop your movement is massive.

      He's better off casting Boon of Switfness if no one needs healing. Anything else is a waste of MP and RT. If you've already leveled up his Cudgel skill to the point where he has a finisher, and you just so happened to be in range of an attack buff card *and* you are also in range of an enemy that you can finish off while also having a surplus of MP...maybe, but that's a pretty big outlier scenario.

    Recruiting those other unit types cannot be understated. Having a Dragon of every element type makes fights soooo much easier, as you can swap in the one that's strong against their dominant element.
    Also, fairies are freaking OP as hell. They have an AoE charm ability and they're basically red mages, able to cast strong healing spells as well as attack spells. Early turn AoE charm blasting the enemy is like hitting them with a tidal wave. You're not only denying multiple of their units a turn, you're also forcing the enemy to spend more time attacking/curing the charm effect. It's insane how strong it is.

    The best advice in the game is to leave your white knights naked aka no gear also its not a bad idea to grab the orb from the blackmoor fight which reduces RT, then to throw boon of swiftness on them. They will sometimes move 4-5x per everyone elses 1 turn, move them onto skill activation cards, and then just laugh your way to the bank as the velocity skill will proc non-stop. Also the luminant bracers, and snipe gear have free boon of swiftness on them in PotD.

  • @ValeVin

    Clerics are rough, because I still find myself bringing one and sometimes their spot healing makes a big difference. But once you hit San Bronsa and you've got Rabuna's Tanbur, suddenly Punkinstopheles (or Iuria, I guess, if you're not using her as a shaman) gets 5 free casts of AoE renewal, which constantly heals 100+ health on everything all the time and lasts for half the battle. The instrument cast doesn't benefit from echoing voice or resounding voice, but usually the second turn the pumpkin songstress can cast spellcraft+mp, and by the time I need more renew, she's got her buffs up and can hit a wide area with the longer version.
    I guess by the time cleric fell off, songstress picked up the slack.

    • @89Games

      you don't really need renewal on the first turn, i'd recommend you equipping her with a wind cursed dagger (or Pinion Dagger) and a Pandeiro+1 for spellcraft and mp on turn 1.
      then she can join the frontline from a respectable distance with dagger finishers (mostly the wind elemental one and Overwhelm)

    Finishers and magic are pretty good during most of the game, but i think that by the time you reach endgame, Guaranteed Crit skills in a dual wielding lord with berserk or a fusilier for ranged attacks are more effective than... literally everything else. For everyone who isn't doing that and is in melee, i feel like spears seem the strongest weapon? Not as much damage as other two handed weapons, but very strong and versatile finishers, and the reach keeps the user mostly safe, and with the bardiche or damascene spear you can even attach through allies without hurting them

    I dont know if someone has pointed these out already but as a newbie doing his 1st run as a no incap, no chariot, no monsters, no humanoids, no "hard to get" classes (lich, divine knight), no zombie run, here are the top 5 things i've found to help in making the game easier (and to have less frustrating reloads):
    1. use item debuffs on bosses. better from a lobber unit that can fly like canopus. denam makes a great lobber for alot of story fights (beast tamer) because he's usually scripted to be near the boss. the top 4 items here to use are weakened, spoilspell, breached and enfeebled.
    2. focus on action economy, not dmg, especially not sustained dmg like poison. this is a game about action economy. the best use of your action is if the result of that action takes an enemy out of the fight for multiple turns (charm, sleep, petrify, stop) or of course killing that enemy on that specific turn. the only time you should think about dmg is when facing the boss as they are typically immune to conditions.
    since most fights is just "vanquish the leader" i've found the most efficient teams especially once you gain access to ring of the mind +1 early chapter 3 is to bring alot of wizards/warlocks with your control spell of choice. i prefer sleep as charm easily gets broken by counterattacks. sleep has lower rt and mp cost too. so pretty much just slowly advance towards the boss, disabling nearby enemies along the way. then once you reach the boss your melee units can unload finishers/attack.
    this also means getting more turns that the enemies are premium so velocity shift and boon of swiftness are must haves.
    3. use items for healing. dont use clerics. i've found clerics to be inadequate for healing compared to items due to the amount. lobber units can heal for much more at further range while being able to contribute on offense when there;s no need to heal.
    actually a good measure of how good you're doing battle wise is how often you've had to heal/revive. if you're doing that alot, you're being inefficient. you're wasting actions.
    4. tanking doesn't exist in this game. there's no reliable way to generate and maintain aggro which makes knights like clerics, useless. yes rampart aura is useful in certain maps with chokepoints but most of the time enemies have ways around that with flight, spells and ranged attacks. or you could've achieved the same result (dmg mitigation) by simply petrifying or charming all your enemies otw to the boss.
    5. maximize elemental affinities defensively. if you notice bosses one-shotting your guys with finishers or summons, check the boss's element and switch your squishier characters to the element your boss is weak against. the targeting in this game prioritizes elemental weaknesses before looking at hp or def/res. this way the boss will prioritize hitting your tankier units 1st. this also lessens aoe dmg to your units.
    so save those element charms early on and switch unit elements during the tougher battles.

    • @89Games
      @89Games  Год назад +1

      Very good points all. I agree especially with number 2 about action economy. Using actions efficiently and giving yourself more of them than the enemy are the best way to win.

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 Год назад +1

      @@89Games yup. this is the general case in most rpgs unless dmg scales well. dmg is only relevant for that specific action if it kills an enemy. a damaged enemy deals the same amount of dmg as an un-damaged enemy.
      when i explain it to my friends who like dmg, i tell them think of control effects as dealing dmg equal to the enemy's hp. control effects essentially are one-shot kills if you can end the fight before the duration lapses.

      You can run an undead team with a Necromancer - either a skeleton army or zombie units. Necromancy skills essentially make you immortal.
      For End Game:
      The META is to run a team of shamans, one for each element. You use the Phoraena sisters, each with the element that corresponds to their outfit. Deneb, Iuria and Lord Denam are candidates for Lightning and Ice. Princess Catiua gets Light. Tier 2 Summons are the strongest magic in the game, so everything gets wrecked.
      If you want to take it one step nuttier - add a Lich in the mix for your Dark element character since they can also use Summons. Equip them with Paradigm Shift spell , Salvation and Reflect skills. Paradigm Shift resets RT to zero allowing targets to act immediately. Salvation will spread MP to nearby units as long as Lich is over 50% MP - essentially making them a battery. Reflect covers friendly units within 2 tiles, reflecting magic back at the caster. You'll want to have the elemental wands for the 6 main element Shamans and Malitza's Staff for Light and Dark. These have the +100 MP ability that you use in the first turn to kick things off.

      That's a video, I have thought about making, so if there is a need for it I may. But in short, your safe to do CODA right now without messing anything up, and if your not sure where to go, usually there is a talk topic in the Warren Report that will tell you where to go. As far as the World system works, you always keep any characters/classes you've unlocked and can even take them all back to chapter one. Every branch of the story, so your chaos run through ch. 2 for instance, will always be accessible through the World system even if you go law route at the end of ch. 1. Eventually, you can have every path unlocked and jump to any of them at any time. This subject is a little abstract and hard to communicate, but I hope this helps. If I can come up with a clear, concise way to describe it, I may put out a video too. Thank you for the idea!

    Trying to use elements in this way is more time consuming than it's worth as the damage overall is minimal and very often a huge waste of time to set up. Trying to move your caster or melee unit into the range of an element they are strong against while ignoring every other enemy on the way? Huge opportunity cost and not worth it at all. Similarly with leveling up multiple casters of every element.
    If your casters are in range of a unit that they are strong against, sure. Even then though you have to decide on whether or not to actually target that unit (which might be at full health) vs finishing off another unit that's also within range, but is also closer to death that they might not be "strong" against. Unless you're playing with a very heavy caster setup, they are almost always going to start having enough MP to actually use their direct damage spells once enemies have already been weakened by your other units, and it shouldn't actually matter whether or not they are strong against them, and instead they should just focus on killing them off. This is especially true when it comes to using AoE spells.
    Besides any of that, as has already been said, status effects matter more. Things like Charm, Sleep, Petrify and Poison are all far more valuable for the first half of a fight than any direct damage dealing spells.
    For bosses: just use Sacrifice brands to weaken them as well as the Dynast-King mead to force breach.

    Is it worth it to change classes after reaching lvl cap early? It says my Danem is lvl capped, should I switch him from RK to knight?

    • @89Games
      @89Games  Год назад

      When you switch classes, you get all the skills in the new class up to your current level. You don't need to level denam in each class. So switching denam's class is more about how you like to play than anything else. I would recommend keeping him as a tank class though for survivability, since most missions are lost if he dies. Hopefully that answers your question, enjoy the game!

    yeah i got a question sense my level is stuck at the union level can i change classes to get new skills while im capped at max level cause god im struggleing,for reference im at chapter 3 at brigantys castle my gear is all maxed but i dont have any class skills from other classes like the knights phalax.

    • @89Games
      @89Games  Год назад

      You could change denam's class, but he wouldn't keep the previous class's skills. He would take on the new class's skills in place of them.

    Here is an additional bonus tip:
    In the late game Canopus and Iuria are the best Clerics for their ability to fly innately. Iuria makes a kickass flying shaman though. Still, any generic (a tiny bit higher RT tho) winged makes excellent Warrior, Archer, Cleric or Rune Fencer.

      @Neonmirrorblack Год назад

      Canopus is good, but flying units cost a hell of a lot more RT to move per square than a non flying unit. So you're giving up turns for movement.

    • @Taydris0
      @Taydris0 Год назад +2

      @@Neonmirrorblack that's not true. Flying units cost the same RT as any other unit. RT penalties are class based
      not racial based.
      I think what you're trying to say is *Vartan* is (it's not good lol) good but it costs a lot of RT per move.

    I’m assuming you won’t see this. But, thanks for the content. At 8:08 you start to talk about something and it’s absurd.
    Again, I’m assuming you won’t be going back to check comments on year old videos.
    The core of what you’re saying is … some people say it’s a bug, but it’s in the game so you’re going to use it and don’t consider it a bug.
    By your logic, if a game crashes and deletes your saved games it’s not a bug because it’s in the shipped game.
    That’s very obviously not true, right?
    Most games are filled with bugs.
    I’m not going to go into this further. It’s an infinite money bug … there is an economy in the game. They OBVIOUSLY don’t want players to have access to infinite money.
    I spent a little time trying to imagine the mental gymnastics it takes to try to cheat and then tell yourself you’re not cheating and I’m not coming up with anything good. You want to cheat in this game and you found a way to do it? Do your thing. It’s a single player game. Have fun your way! 👍 But, be an adult and recognize you’re cheating.

      This has been a discussion around the game for quite a while on this topic with a commenter on this very video saying that the developers publicly said the infinite money is intended thereby making this a feature. It was present on the old PSP version as well, though there was a failure chance to crafting making the process take more time but still technically possible. As far as the inclusion in the video, it was there to show that it was possible. It is up to individual players if they want to do it or not. I did not intend to sound as if I was trying to cheat without calling it so, though I see how viewers could come to that conclusion. I apologize for the poor wording. Thank you, though for the insightful comment. I appreciate constructive criticism as it helps me grow as a creator. Oh, and I read ALL comments on my videos😁

    No, the money-farm is not a cheat. This is a game where turning back time in gameplay turns is a built-in mechanic. This is THE pro-cheese rpg.
