@@thesugardaddy7037 Well, "Machine Spirits" could actually be multiple explanations. On the one hand, it could be bits of the Dragon's mind or soul somehow dug into everything the AdMech produce. It could also be Dumb AI still around that the AdMech has gaslit themselves into not thinking are AI or have forgotten that they are (cause they forget tech sometimes). The fact that Cognis/Awakened weapons are self-aiming/firing/driving (i.e. there's nobody pulling the trigger, it's pulling *itself*) means that there's absolutely *something* going on. The fact that Machine Spirits are just "temperamental" or "touchy" and not "actively and constantly malicious" leads me to doubt it's actually the Dragon itself.
It certainly doesn’t help that his tactical ineptitude and blatant disregard for material and manpower costs ended up getting unbelievable amounts of Astartes grade equipment destroyed. There’s a reason why the Iron Warriors use basic artillery and boltguns almost exclusively. The Mechanicum didn’t want to give them anything because they knew it’d just get destroyed. The Mechanicum loved the Iron Hands for the opposite reason. The Iron Hands knew how to deploy their stuff, how to use it properly, and how to take care of it and maintain it. Which of your friends would you let borrow your car, the guy that road rages at every minor infraction, drives it like he stole it, takes it off-road all the time and regularly smashes into curbs and shit? Or would you rather lend it to your mechanic and automobile collector friend, who treats every car he’s ever had with the same care and respect he shows to his loving wife?
Not everyone has the iron will of a primarch. And I think him going "I don't care how you feel, I know every piece of component in the entirety of your 50m body. Obey me." would tame a Titan's machine spirit just as well.
I mean, there's a real possibility that the "machine spirits" aren't actually a real thing that exist and are only a big stupid superstition ritual that makes things work despite (not because) itself. That and Perty has the ability to instinctively understand how everything works just by looking at t it/interacting with it, he probably actually see the Mechanics cult working in very counterintuitively and inefficient way for no other reason than to maintain their bullshit, and that drives him mad
Perturabo could've been a perfect role model and one of the greatest primarch if he learnt to control his anger. It's unacceptable that he choosed to become a demon primarch. To me, it would've been better if he choosed to stay traitor and build his own Iron kingdom without accepting chaos.
There's a theory that after Fulgrim stole his "primarch energy" he ended up dying slowly (like a form of warp cancer), which was why he ended up becoming a daemon prince. His experience with the hrud migration also no doubt did some damage to his mortality.
To be fair you don’t need to be a deamon to be horrifically mutated by the warp . Funnily enough, no, the AdMech are not Mutants. They're just really messed up cyborgs. The Navigators, however, totally are, despite being labeled "Abhumans." The difference is that Navigators are a subset of Psyker, which is a mutation and not a typical Baseline Human trait. The Abhumans (like Ratlings and Ogryns) are a stable, consistent variant of the Human form. I.e. all Ratlings by default are that size, whereas not all Humans are Psykers by default.
@@thebighurt2495 anything that deviates from baseline human can be considered a "mutant," or an offense to human purity. this includes genetic modifications/editing, organic body parts and organs being removed and replaced with new ones, and prosthetics or artificial implants. Space Marines, the AdMech, cyborgs in general. even humans refered to as "rattlings," "longshanks," "navigators," and "squats" due to environmental and gravitational differences are included.
@@palpadur1112 Well the difference, specifically, according to the Mechanicus Biologus is the stability and consistency of the Genetics. I.e., if all Humans normally and consistently have six fingers, then a dude with six is not a mutant. He's normal. If Humans normally have five and a dude has six, then he's a deviation and is a mutant. Ratlings, Longshanks, and the other "Abhumans," specifically, are equally consistent. They're all normally taller or bigger or smaller or etc. The reason for the difference is that "Abhumans" are the result of thousands of years of Adaptation to different planetary conditions. "Mutants" are the result of either Chaos influence or heavy radiation poisoning. Abhuman = Understandable Materium Changes Mutant = Warpy bullcrap Since the Rad Mutants have a general tendency to fall to Chaos and the other guys already have, they're a thing that has to be purged. Navigators *are* the result of Warpy nonsense and thus Mutants. "Abhumans" are mentally, physically and genetically stable and not the result of Chaos or highly likely to turn to Chaos. If anything, they have a *lower* rate of it. Thus Abhumans do not need to be purged. Tech-Priests are 100% Human with machiney bits stuck in them. Guilliman found it sickening and wasteful in the extreme, and considering his codex replaced the Principia Bellicosa in Astartes libraries and record vaults all over the galaxy, I think it’s safe to say he’s right.

I’ve always worked under the impression that warhammer is about belief. Faith of something happening makes it so. The martians believe machines have souls and spirits and gods and so there is. That’s why the big E has essentially ascended to being a god, not because he is and always was, but because countless trillions of people pray to him like one. There’s still actual gods kicking around, but ones like the Ca’tan are gods of “things” not gods of faith or action like the chaos gods or the emperor. I could be entirely wrong but that’s how I’ve always seen it.
Perty is like a modern era Tech Genius. He understands why things work and builds with this in mind. Picture a Sheldon Cooper or Maurice Moss type character. The Mechanicus has no fuckin’ clue why what they are doing works, they just know how to read the manuals, sorry Tech-Litanies, and follow instructions doggedly.
Of course he despises them. Perturabo is an INVENTOR, which is essentially SACRILEGE to the Mechanicus, whose whole RELIGION is basically blindly copying existing tech, while having absolutely NO idea why it was designed like that.

Now we're gonna keep all our cold fusion powered space ship and infinite ammo artillery gun manufacturing info to ourselves now" Perturabo: "Ah GD ir!"
The irony here is machine spirits are a thing and that's exactly what Perturabo will inevitably accept given the Iron Warriors huge array of daemon engines.
He was a complete cunt, but instead of someone fucking decking him once and telling him to stop being a cunt, they all decided to be cunts and went full passive aggressive on him, fucked him and his legion over repeatedly, and overall ostracized him unless they needed something, then ostracized him again. @@thebighurt2495Well no we know who it is. Its the Void Dragon locked deep in the Emperors vaults.
Perty: CHALLENGE IMPOSSIBLE
Or would you rather lend it to your mechanic and automobile collector friend, who treats every car he’s ever had with the same care and respect he shows to his loving wife?

plus: the tech adepts of Mars are all mutants.
They don't even do the job the emperor gave them
Funnily enough, no, the AdMech are not Mutants. They're just really messed up cyborgs.
The Navigators, however, totally are, despite being labeled "Abhumans."
The difference is that Navigators are a subset of Psyker, which is a mutation and not a typical Baseline Human trait.
Abhuman = Understandable Materium Changes
Mutant = Warpy bullcrap
Since the Rad Mutants have a general tendency to fall to Chaos and the other guys already have, they're a thing that has to be purged.
As far as Space Marines are concerned, you're actually right. It's just that Emps himself designed them and thus they get a pass.

Its not a spirit, its just a limited AI within the tech and the "god" is more than likely the void dragon.
If you believe in a lie long enough, it becomes the truth… well it did wonders for chaos in this case.
I’ve always worked under the impression that warhammer is about belief. Faith of something happening makes it so. The martians believe machines have souls and spirits and gods and so there is.
That’s why the big E has essentially ascended to being a god, not because he is and always was, but because countless trillions of people pray to him like one.
