Respectfully, Pirlo was instrumental when Italy won the World Cup during a very powerful and difficult era in international football. He was also arguably the best player at Euro 2012... he sat on the same table as Xavi and Iniesta that tournament. Modric's international career is quite overrated. Croatia didn't achieve much in Euro 2012 or World Cup 2014... Euro 2016, they had a solid chance to eliminate Portugal and completely capitulated. Modric was really poor in the 2018 World Cup during a number of matches, particularly against Russia... he was absolutely terrible and was very lucky to score his penalty in the shootout. International football legacy is something I take into huge consideration, and this Croatian generation had a lot of potential. To say Pirlo doesn't get into the conversation is short-sighted and disrespectful. Modric at club level... yes, mostly magnificent... but he never redefined his style like Pirlo did in the 2010s. It's a conversation we should all be happy to have because Pirlo brought joy to so many matches.
Longevity pirlo did it also until he was 40 I think So they both have that but what I’ll say is modric didn’t really do much in his early days until when xavi iniesta was no more a pair But who’s more pivotal is to their team I think modric is correct and can offer more but different styles of play Pirlo is like a Jorginho with lots and lots of creativity
Modric with his soon to be 6th Champions League is above any other midfielder in entire history of football, and is to be compared with those who are the best ever of any position*, not with 2 Champions Leagues Pirlos. Modric also not just won Ballon d‘or, but won it during Ronaldo and Messi era. Don’t joke me by putting Pirlo in comparison with Modric, please. Thank you. PS after Italy won the World Cup, it played in Italy against Modric‘s Croatia and lost at home 0-2. Italy never beat Modric‘s Croatia, for you who even compare Pirlo to Modric. * Modric recently broke Ferenc Puskas‘ record, and is about to match Gento‘s record, so that’s where he’s at and who he should be compared with
@@leatherface6036I absolutely don’t have any distaste for Pirlo, he’s most outstanding as player AND person, I just say that Modric with his already five Champions Leagues and Ballon d’or is much above him, as good as Pirlo is. These guys have no idea what they’re talking about. None of the players they mentioned is better than Pirlo. Go watch Pirlo videos or a full match and try to discern his important. He will be the engine of any team with a tactical manager. A player as a deep-lying playmaker with the ability to: - control tempo of the game incredibly - control the ball effortlessly - beyond excellent passing (not just tiki taka play, group passing all the way to goal) - start attack from defense with just one single pass, boom! - vision like no other - a dead ball specialist (free kicks, corners, penalty) What are these guys talking about, they have no idea. I can not believe Rio said Pirlo doesn't come into the conversation. Pirlo is ahead of any of the Barcelona midfield. Pirlo is the first CDM in his mid 30's to 'Try' and be man marked out of a game by opposing managers. Correct answer, Pirlo and Modric same team with a destroyer type in a 3 man midfield with them
Players like Pirlo , Scholes & Busquets to some aspect are unique, regista type players , to compare them to xavi or iniesta is harsh, they're absolute football geniuses who orchestrated the game , controlled midfield & pirlo is one of the best playmakers ever .
If we speaking in terms of just value it’s not even a conversation. One player lead one of the smallest countries in the world to a World Cup final and World Cup semi final back to back years. Pirlo won a World Cup in a great Italian with all time greats like cannavaro and Totti. When speaking on purely a skill based then it’s very even and you can slightly give the edge of pirlo

Rio's credibility went down a whole lot by stating something so wrong. Goes from "unplayable" to "Doesn't really come into that conversation", did his praise trigger some salty feelings to suddenly spout absolute nonsense?
Iniesta is different from the other 3, he's an attacking mid, so it's unfair to compare him, they can compare him with Zidane, Ronaldinho, Baggio. Modric is similar to Pirlo and Xavi. Prime Modric was unplayable, his world Cup final run in 2018 was magical and he won 4 CL too, Croatia has a lesser team than Spain and Italy. There is no right answer as the Prime of all 3 players were at a different time, In that position Scholes is the greatest. Xavi couldn't do much when Pirlo has a great team around him in 2005-2007 and Pirlo cannot touch Xavi when he had a great team from 2008-2012, Modric came later and he didn't compete with either player, If I were a coach and I've to choose one of them, I would pick Xavi as he can play both long and short passes equally well, Pirlo's long passes are far superior though, Modric is not as good a pass master as either of them, he's more of a defensive playmaker. 1. Scholes (1997-2011) 2. Xavi (2006-2015) 3. Pirlo (2003-2012) 4. Modric (2014-2022))

It's for exactly the same reason that Beckham was so, so good. Weaknesses? Sure. But strengths, he was best in the world at his strengths.
Football is a team game. No player can be great at everything and therefore it's always better to be a master of some than a Jack of all trades.
Unless your Pele, of course, apparently he was Brazils best goalkeeper, never mind best forward😅
Pirlo was at Xavi’s and Iniestas level. If he played in their place you wouldn’t see a drop off. He fits more the xavi role but a little deeper
"What is the prime Pirlo though?" says it all.
Longevity - Modric, still doing it and not just doing it actually winning ucls
Longevity pirlo did it also until he was 40 I think
So they both have that but what I’ll say is modric didn’t really do much in his early days until when xavi iniesta was no more a pair
But who’s more pivotal is to their team I think modric is correct and can offer more but different styles of play
Pirlo is like a Jorginho with lots and lots of creativity
Modric edges it in longevity, but Pirlo reached world class level at a far younger age.
Pirlo owned england at Euro and 2014 world cup.
Pirlo is in a conversation with Von Clausewitz, Hannibal, Caesar and Napoleon!
I'm sorry, but it's Modric ALL DAY. If Pirlo was an angry character, he wouldn't have the same praise.
Zidane was different level that inesta and xavi couldn’t reach
Modric and it’s not up for debate.
It absolutely is.
I think he forgot Ferguson s plan to beat AC .
Pirlo Is a GENIUS. Modric a fantastic midfielder. There Is no comparison
Modric is also the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s history with 25 trophies and counting.
These guys have no idea what they’re talking about. None of the players they mentioned is better than Pirlo. Go watch Pirlo videos or a full match and try to discern his important. He will be the engine of any team with a tactical manager. A player as a deep-lying playmaker with the ability to:
- control tempo of the game incredibly
- control the ball effortlessly
- beyond excellent passing (not just tiki taka play, group passing all the way to goal)
- start attack from defense with just one single pass, boom!
- vision like no other
- a dead ball specialist (free kicks, corners, penalty)
What are these guys talking about, they have no idea. Follow Xavi and Iniesta career and you’d realize they were just average and Barca tiki taka.
-
Pirlo is 100% xavi and insta level. The disrespect is insane
PIRLO ORGANIZING THE GAME, ALMOST EVERY GAME.
The team waiting for him to organize.
Can that 3 manage the game like Pirlo and make the team depends on you? 😂
Pirlo Is the best midfielder EVER.
It's Modric, not even a question
It is a question. You just watched an entire shorts debating it.
says the person whos never watched a serie a game in his life, u prolly started watching football after he retired
I’m sorry but Pirlo eats Xavi… Modric is comparable and Iniesta played a different position.
Pirlo is not even close to Xavi
@@midfielderlounge2592 go watch cricket
@@midfielderlounge2592 Pirlo is way better than Xavi. He can do everything Xavi did without Iniesta next to him and also had so many more weapons: set-pieces, shots, long balls, dribbling, none of which Xavi had.
Pirlo is the last one there and no way he's near xavi 😂
@midfielderlounge2592 lay off the drugs pal
Pirlo has a far superior range of passing with all due respect, can take free kicks in multiple ways and is better on the ball although xavi was mad press resistant in congested spaces so you gotta give props to him for that
Even physically there's nothing really that xavi's got on pirlo apart from being a bit more mobile but you have to primarily compare based on footballing abilities
Xavi= World class midfielder
Pirlo= Elite level midfielder
Arguably the greatest Regista ever doesn't come into the conversation of greatest mid fielders ever?
if I had to build a team, the first player I would choose would be Pirlo. Pirlo is the strongest regista who ever existed, he alone made the team.
What??? Pirlo is always put up there with the best of all time, what are you talking about Rio
Prime Pirlo for me
I think as good as they were Barca enhances how people see them .
“at the middle of the field dictates pirlo!”
Pirlo by far. Over Modric, Xavi or Iniesta, Rio is hurt.
Pirlo was better than Xavi, in my opinion... they were both amazing, but Pirlo had more raw talent.
Pirlo carried Italy WC 2006 vs Germany with that assist to Grosso. Modric doesn't even won the wc
Yes, many football fans will pick pirlo,
But almost all of world class manager will pick modric..
Same with xavi or iniesta..
People love iniesta, but great manager will pick prime xavi over prime iniesta
Rio's credibility went down a whole lot by stating something so wrong.
Goes from "unplayable" to "Doesn't really come into that conversation", did his praise trigger some salty feelings to suddenly spout absolute nonsense?
No version of Modric is better than Pirlo
Pirlo is the best midfielder ever
Pirlo is the best of the best 😊
Pirlo all day, only thing modric has on him is lonegevity
The disrespect to pirlo is outrageous pirlo is better than the three just because he didn't play for real or barcelona
Pirlo....all the way...
At the END. Modric have a Balon D or :).
Ferdinand is clueless. Definitely Pirlo and it ain’t close
Modric is universe for himself, he is not comparable to any player, comes to Messi and Ronaldo, passed Zidane already...
And When you talk about the best Centre Backs Of this Generation Ferdinand doesn't come in the conversation 😂😂😂😂 Andrea Pirlo Is World Class
im a madridista but im safe to say that pirlo is the best MF of all time (individually)
1. Scholes (1997-2011)
2. Xavi (2006-2015)
3. Pirlo (2003-2012)
4. Modric (2014-2022))
Xavi was better than scholes
i go
Xavi
Modric
Pirlo
scholes was overrated not in the conversation
I’ll say Xavi , Inesta and and the legendary Midfielder Paul Scholes
scholes 😂😂😂😂
Scholes in the same bracket💀
