Courts dont usually interfere in the lower court as theyre adjudicating. It screws with the record. The higher courts use that record to determine where things went wrong.
SCOTUS could and should quash the whole thing. The constitution is clear.

In my opinion, a judge shouldn't be the one to decide if they're recused from a court case. There should be a neutral panel that decides if the judge has a conflict of interest or not.
