Just for the information seekers.........this design was featured in the UK magazine The Model Engineer in the 50's. I made one to that design in the 80's and have used it continuously since. The biggest cut I made was on a piece of 100mm square solid steel bar and that was using 12" hacksaw blades you use in a hand hacksaw.
Very nice design and build one of the things i liked most was the quality utilizing basic tools the other You Tube power hacksaw videos have guys machining parts on lathes which is quite alright but in many cases the average DIY guy is not a machinist by trade and if they are machinists they can afford to have their shops budget to purchase a commercially made machine at one of their auctions they attend I actually have family that are Machinists and often i will help them move some of the heavy machinery they pick up for the shops I know what the lathes are capable of but as a Woodworker by trade i dont know how to operate a metal lathe or a welder with much skill level as the professionals do sure of course i do get a few tips or even a build in exchange for my services in Woodworking ! A few years ago they built a new home and i voluntarily did all the trim work for them
Hi, just as a matter of interest, this design with the swinging arm and no slides was featured in the UK magazine The Model Engineer way back in the 70's.....I know because I built one and still use it, not quite as rough and ready as this one.....it uses ordinary 12" hand hacksaw blades. The largest piece of steel I've cut with it was 100mm (4" ) square steel bar......try doing that by hand.
I hand ripped a 5/8" thick X 3.5" X 9" of annealed 1084 into two 1/4 X 3.5 X 9" boards" last week and the faces were not clean at all as ?I started several different "kerf" cuts that dint meets in the middle and that took me a little over 6 hours using a piece of hearty metal cutting bandsaw blade in a long butchers saw frame,so . ..not fun. . ..
It's great, except... It runs too fast, jumps up and bounces a lot, has no guide for starting the cut and looks ready to destroy itself, or the table, after cutting through the piece. How about a few additions such as; A bearing off the end of the hacksaw blade to roll on the table after it cuts through (or a cutoff switch). Another pulley to reduce the speed (or a speed control). If it runs slower it won't bounce so much. A blade guide attached to the piece to start the cut. I hope these suggestions help. Usually, your stuff is not so rickety. BTW: The music at the end was painful.
This hacksaw really needs an oilgreasing system,a very simple one.Like a medical dropper.Otherwise a saw will get worn too fast.I"m building the same devise, but with an auto switchoff when a work is done.

Nice work. Like most of these diy projects it’s cheaper to buy. However if you have a lot of scrap and many do. This is the way to go. Way better.

How to make slower RPM?
@@RiawanBhirawanto Put a smaller pulley on the motor shaft. There are calculators for this on google.
Yes, the idea is good, but the embodiment is unsatisfactory. And the "music" background ...
@@bradyoung6663 i think motor from washing machine. is there any way to make it slower? may be using a resistance pod?
@@alexanderzimin5836 you do not need to be nice, the execution of the plan power hack saw failed. There is enough bull shit like this on youtube.
Excellent Preparation, Home made power hacksaw, I loved the product and the way it is made.
Thanks
And how I had not thought of this before! Thanks for the idea!
I thought that everybody that ever used a hand saw thought of that! But few built it.
@@MaxBorges888 I saw this, but did not attach importance. Now I liked the homemade product, someday I'll do it myself.
Nevruz usta yine güzel bir alet yaptınız. Tebrik ederim. Spiral kesmede kullandığınız taşın markası ve cinsi nedir?

Hi Great Idea well done, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a double sided blade like the one used. :)
Good idea and nice work! 👍 🙋♂️
I liked that background music (Till 18:00), it is complimentary to that trans while doing / watching that stuff. Good.
Good idea, just add speed controller on that motor and that will be perfect
Práctica y sencilla Felicitaciones!!!

Great work , I think it took at least 3 hrs time to finish it. Am I right ?
for less than $4 you could buy one can of paint and make it all one color so it looks cohesive as a unit
Bravo.ottima idea e lavoro
esa musica que ponen en ese video parece F U N E B R E.......T E T R I C A................
Very good but so complicated
Nice vidio........im like this.....good job
Can specify the where did you get this motor, iam great fan of you
looks incidental to the motor used in dishwashers
Muito legal.....

Respect for welding with electrode. And for making out of crap.
Show amigo!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Nice saw man 👍👌
Genial, parabéns, 👍👏👏🇧🇷
Maravilloso ingenio
Felicidades desde Guatemala
Que canção gostosa de ouvir. Otimo video.
Très bien continuer brave homme
Bhai which motor is used in this
How fast is this motor speed and what size pulley are you using?
Andrey Home Furniture,
Muy buen diseño.
19.18 music nice😊😊👍
good job
Great idea, and a tool well made. I also like the accompanying music. What is the name of the melody?
Excelente idea ¡¡¡
Buen trabajo amigo saludos
I like it thanks
very ingenious, congratulations your video is great
You are holding in hands the piece you drill ?
Muito bom meu amigo
Awesome bro can you give me the buying link of this cutting disc you used.
nota 10, muito bom
Ficou ótimo
It really is a good job
You are awesome bro
You seem to have an endless supply of scrap metal, lucky you. Is that a washing machine motor or out of a large fan?
Thanks
Fan I think. No reply? Guess is fan. Or mini washer!
Bearings here there maybe
If put the tube to outside the spinner bit you could get full cut on the blade?
Maravillosa!
Well the music changed considerably...

Nice work

Does this kind of blade cuts on its 2 sides. I noticed u use ur up side down.
Can't one make a similar lever system for a block making machine(press)?
Great work dear friend
Gracias.
love the design but at the end it shows the blade in upside down it only had teeth on one side what the deal with that bust still great design

Is that a double sided saw blade?
