  • COTA Race 3, once again this was back in March earlier this year! Unfortunately, I didn't record Race 2 so we have to skip to Race 3, but this is a good one!
    I had my first major accident with the Sedan during this race. The Blue Corvette driven by Paul Curley blew up his diff right in the corner exit, severely slowed down, and it caught me off guard. I thought he had a miss-shift so I expected he'd pick up speed but it was quickly obvious I misjudged the situation when I drove right into the back of him. I tried my best to avoid him but it all happened too quick.
    The damage to my car was decent with a completely torn up bumper, hood, headlight, mangled radiator ducting and destroyed core support. Luckily the radiator didn't puncture so I was able to keep racing to an epic finish with James Houghton. Paul's Corvette was completely undamaged (besides the diff) because it's a tank and the he honestly had no idea I even hit him ha!

      Yeah. The car was definitely loose. Its hard racing against cars that are built more for speed rather than being light and nimble. All that work in the corners to just get motored by ha

      @@EricKutilRacing I was watching him in your mirror, and at probably around 60 outta corners you just see him pull, especially when he hits your draft some.
      And to think, now that he has a wing, doesn't he have to run a bit less power? You seem to keep up with the C5s just fine more/less on the straights.

      Just making sure to reset the pads after the pad knockback, cota is pretty bumpy and the curbs and vibrations cause the pads to move and have a softer pedal. It's also more of a habit these days lol.

      Personal Grinta. 320mm iirc. I love a wheel with thicker rim around the palms and thumbs. There's a few Sparco wheels I really like as well. 320-330mm is my favorite. 350 is a smidge too big for my personal taste but comes in handy for cars without powersteering

    This probably won't mean anything coming from "me,"
    but I've been watching you for a while now since the eg saloon, and i dont want this to come across negative,
    But i would like to give a bit of constructive criticism/feedback.
    On numerous corners, especially the last corner of the last lap, you have been too low in the rev range and fell out of vtec in 3rd and needed 2nd gear.
    I first noticed this on another track, in some corners with you doing it in 4th gear instead of dropping into 3rd and having fallen out of vtec.
    I hope the 3rd gear incident hasnt deterred you from giving it the high downshifts it needs in these certain corners.
    Great racing none the less, i would like to see you get faster👍

    • @EricKutilRacing
      @EricKutilRacing  7 месяцев назад +4

      I understand your viewpoints but there's a few things you may not be aware of. For the class rules, we have to run a specific power to weight. My car is detuned to to 198 whp flat. By flat, I mean it makes 198 whp at roughly 5700 rpm all the way to 8400 rpm. So in a lot of corners where it may seem like I'm too low in the rev range, I'm actually right in my peak power band. That's the benefit of a flat power curve, you can shift less. Now, the last corner, I will agree, I made a mistake there mainly because I was trying to prevent The tsx over/under and parked it at the apex to block him. At that point, I should have shifted to 2nd for sure.

    • @EricKutilRacing
      @EricKutilRacing  7 месяцев назад +5

      One more thing I'll add, my gear setup was wacky at this event. I ran an extremely long tsx 2nd and then rsxs 3rd which were too close together. The final drive was also too long which made 5th not ideal on the straights. I made a change after this event and will make another this off season

      @EricKutilRacing @EricKutilRacing yeah I was aware of the power to weight class. Yeah i understand being in and around 5000 - 5500rpm, but some corners I've seen the revs as low as 3000-4000. I've also a question about the vtec rpm engagement, would you not benefit from the vtec being lowered to 5000-5200rpm, so you can get into the flat 198whp sooner than having to wait for 5700rmp?

    • @HondasAreNotForChristmas
      @HondasAreNotForChristmas 7 месяцев назад

      @EricKutilRacing that's interesting to hear about the gearing & for the final drive, I thought It was the torque of the k24 that was closing the gap.
      It'll be interesting to see the changes and hoping for you to get faster & all the best👍
