    Donnie B I recommend changing your knife throwing method to no spin. I have hundreds of knives, like you, and I'm obsessed with them so naturally I'm into throwing. I have many throwers as well, and have been spin throwing for 36 years. Theres always that frustration initially when you have a knife thats not really made for throwing but you want to throw it anyway and you inevitably miss and ding it up or break it. No spin throwing changed my whole perspective and allowed me to throw just about any knife with any grip or length. Basically the throw is a spin but it's not a complete spin. After a day or 3 of practicing you will teach yourself to throw no spin with even greater power, accuracy, and consistency than spin throwing. I can throw anything with this method. Screwdrivers, butter knives, swords and spears. You simply let the knife slide out of your hand before it levels out and wham, you just learned no spin. It opened my eyes. Probably the best thing about it is that range estimation is far less crucial. Rule of thumb, 6 inch knife is good for 6 feet. 14 inch knife is good for 14 feet. See? Throw larger blades like the condor dismissal and the United Bailey Ziel 2. Hibbens are harder to throw and ricochet will hurt you. They are more conducive to defense than sport however I do keep a set, the classic throwers, black, in their sheath for defense. Hibben and ziel are the very few quality blades that come with a 3 piece sheath. Also the condor Wing set is nice. Hold it like a steak knife and let it rip. You will enjoy throwing and up your game at the same time. Trust me. Forget spin throwing and make some more cool vids. Good luck brother!

    • @DonnieBAllDay

      I've done no spin throwing before, but find my natural release that of a spin. I like both, even no spin underhand even though it lacks the power. Throwing pointy objects is just something I'll never stop doing. Haha

      @marcrhodes3382 4 года назад +1

      @@DonnieBAllDay thanks for the reply brother! Thanks for the cool vids too. I thought the same as you do almost my whole life. The fact is that you can throw with more power with no spin. Just like throwing a baseball. No spin is really a misnomer. There is some rotation, it's just enough to complete the arc that is started by your arm. When you spin an object centrifugal force throws energy outward. Tou have to know exactly how much to rotate and exactly the distance. If you overspin or underspin well, you see what happens. Bit when you no spin all that energy is pushed forward. You just have to give it some time. Really it only took me a day to grasp the concept . The results are astonishing. My accuracy and penetration increased a thousand percent. There are world champs, one calls himself TomTom, another is Adam Celadin and the Fedin family. All have vids on RUclips. Tomtom is my fave. He so nonchalantly throws from relaxed positions and sinks blades like you wouldn't believe. Watch his tutorial. I'll send the link in a minute. Have an epiphany like I did. Thanks and stay safe brother!

    To clarify for you, the handle scales are made of a Swiss polymer called "SWISS GV6H" thermoplastic polymer which has 60% glass fiber in it for strength unlike most typical plastic handles with less than 15%, not that I particularly love them either and I do agree they should at the very least add some texturing to allow a better grip wet or dry....

    Hi, Donnie. Hope you all staying healthy and safe.
    Received my Cold Steel Marauder. Starting the sheath. It's like a scuba or military type and the knife clicks in securely. The blade came really sharp. Blade material is Aus 8a. Handle material is injected molded and it's got this uncomfortable diamond pattern. Other than that. Love this knife.

    Don’t buy ONE... buy TWO of them. Got the two for my wife’s RAV4 and my Tacoma. These are sharpened ‘pry bars’ and that’s what I needed for our vehicles. I actually like that plastic Taiwan made sheath. I merely drilled out those 3 rivets from the plastic hanger, and added a Blade Tech Tek Lok. Good to go for belt hanging. Honestly I don’t belt carry, so the plastic sheath works fine for sitting inside a vehicle trunk. I’m happy to support a USA company so I’m happy to overlook said ‘Grivory’ grips. I just want that USA steel and I’m avoiding buying anything from Zhina. LOL Then I took some dumpster PVC 2” pipe and a heat gun to mould my own custom sheaths having taken designs from the internet. Google is your friend. This knife does have an NSN (National Stock Number) so it’s issued to NATO forces (I never got one back in my deployment days) of some sort. I stripped the black coating off one BK2 and “gun blued” that baby nice and dark charcoal-like. Thanks for the review and your energy! All the Best!!

    I agree. A knife especially made in America should come mod free from the box. Meaning good handles. Good sheath. When paying the American price you shouldn’t have to spend an additional 2-300$ to modify the knife so it’s comfortable to carry. A good handle and sheath set up can cost upwards of 3 bills. At what point do you pay a little extra and buy the custom knife that comes complete? Lmao sometimes the customs even come with half ass sheaths

    Nice one Donnie B. Great to see this blade looked at in recent times. Thinking about one to mount under my steering wheel as a JIC knife. Smash out a window if needed, take camping the odd time. Looks like a quality beast at affordable price. Maybe worth putting Micarta scales on in the long haul and mounting a tek-lok to the sheath?

    That knife has been on my list for years actually the one that's been discontinued I think it was the BK 6 but that one would be plenty of knife for me. The one thing that kept me from bringing that thing home with me was the handle I felt like that much money for a knife to handle should be better. I don't want to pay that much money for a knife and then have to put my own handle on I want it ready to go on start slicing and chopping not have to go shopping for a new handle

    Hi DBad , regarding the flappy naylon part - would be feasible to unscrew those screws and move the entire part lower and afterwards try to put the retaining strap over the sheath itself ? ( You know, kind of lifting the entire sheath )
    I'm asking because I don't actually have the bk2 - so maybe you would be kind enough to test that for us 😊

    DBAD, All I am getting is buffering and no video. Judging from the comments, many think the BK2 has a slippery handle. That is total BS. I own virtually every BK knife made. The BK2 is on my side virtually seven days a week and has been there for years ! It is a very serious chopper that is capable of virtually any chore in the field ! That knife has never slipped from my hand and the ergonomics of the handle sets the benchmark for comfort with no hot spots, blisters or soreness. I can wail away at anything for hours without a problem. I keep the edge razor sharp and the 1095 steel of K-Bar is specially formulated with chrome vanadium ( Cro-Van) to increase edge retention . It is easy to sharpen and other 1095 steels do not come close to the edge retention factor. If my hands are oily I cut a piece of bike inner tube the length of the handle and slip it on as a means to ensure handle gripping !I wouldn't butcher up the handle with assinine cutting into the handle. I put paracord through the hole and a slip lock then tie both ends together. I put this around my wrist as a safety feature so the knife doesn't get lost in the event of something going wrong. I can also let the knife dangle off my wrist if I have to use both hands for something, then I can sling the knife back into my hand when I need to resume using it. Learning to sling it back into the proper position only takes a minor amount of practice ! That knife is every bit as good as a nice hatchet and can be used to fell small trees, even with baton use ! Batons will not phase the knife. ! I have made bowls and spoons and even cups with the knife. There is nothing that knife can't do. Great combat knife as well. The thickness inserted into the enemy coupled with the twisting motion will bleed him to death in record time ! You can castrate a bull elephant , rhinoposterous or hippopotamai with it if you like African oysters ! The knife does all that and so much more ! You can even field strip an old Buick with it ! Gut deer or elk or moose in the field ! Why you can even circumcize a lizard or bullfrog with it ! Well any way, wear the knife for about a month and do anything that comes to mind, you will see what I am saying ! Take care my Veteran bro. God bless you and the ones you love, later !

    • @DonnieBAllDay
      @DonnieBAllDay  4 года назад +1

      What part is BS? Everything you just said about blade and comfort, I said in the video. It is not opinion however, but fact, that the grips are smooth plastic. That's fact. Its fact that I squeezed the grip and was able to spin the knife in my hand. You yourself said, "If my hands are oily I cut a piece of bike inner tube the length of the handle and slip it on as a means to ensure handle" If my hands are wet, muddy, dusty, cold or oily while gripping the micarta scales on the Esee or the Rats, the grip is still good. On KA-BARS website, click on the BK series and you see two replacement scales. Micarta and G10. They make a ton of money selling those because that's what SHOULD be on there. If the grips were perfect out of the box, there would be no need for add ons. They make better options because they know 100% that people will buy them due to one of the most awesome knives on the planet comes with the worst handle 'material'. Not contouring, MATERIAL. It's one of the worst handle materials you could ever put on a blade.

    • @peterkinberger9741
      @peterkinberger9741 4 года назад +1

      @@DonnieBAllDay Donnie, I wasn't able to watch your video due to heavy buffering and video freeze ups. Read my comment again, I was commenting on other commentors. Any way, smooth does not always equate with slippery. The handle has swells in the right place for grip retention. The aftermarket scales that are sold were meant to satisfy customer demand when Micarta first became popular. Many hunters and military personnel rejected micarta because of unsanitary conditions created with blood soaking. G-12 is merely a replacement of the original scales. Early on KBar used another type of black plastic, which mine have that many think is better than the G-12. Another way to enhance the grip is to use tennis racket wrap or wind medical wrap that sticks to itself and comes in many colors. Cutting into the scales for better grip doesn't assure a better grip and to the purist, looks tacky. At least with inner tubes and wraps it looks decent whichever you choose. All of which can be changed or replaced at home or in the field ! Donnie, my brother, I have never criticized you and likely will never do so, but to the uninformed public I am subject to do so to help prevent bad information from getting around. I have seen beautiful knives butchered up by folks who don't know what they are doing. I buy used knives and restore them and I see plenty of butchered knives. Similiar to you I maintain a very large knife, bayonet, machete and axe collection featuring many top of the line knives. My passion is bowie, fighting and bushcraft knives at the present. I also love historically rare knives and unusual knives. At 65 yrs of age, 66 next month on Trump's birthday, I have spent many years collecting. I used to sell and swap a lot. Today less people swap and want hard cash but I still do things the old fashioned way, even on a handshake if I know a person's integrity. Well, I hope we are straight, if you have any questions let me know ! Love you brother ! Later !
