@@gazzabrownhigh8891 no, history dictates probabilities. And the strongest probability is that the original will be more iconic, more original, more coveted, more desirable as the original. Same with the original E-Type. Impreza WRX. Hell, even the S1 Elise. All of them massively outperformed subsequent versions in terms of collectibility, iconic status and ultimately value. Sadly, that's largely down to viewers' interest. Believe me, if it got enough views, more channels would make content on it. We are like you, we love this car and made this video "just because"... and have linked more 12C videos in the description for people like us 😁
Totally correct, it just looks better with age. If I could achieve any supercar, this would be it. Bhp is just not the point... It has to be the design externally and quality internally.
I love my 12C and hope to add a 675LT in the future. The interior may be simple and dated by today's standards, but the fit and finish are much better than other cars I've been in from the same period. Looking inside many Gallardo's, you'll see the panels deform quite a bit around the window sill. Ferrari and Lambos from this era have many interior flaws, from the dash delaminating to the sticky buttons. None of those issues are present in the 12C. The problems from the early cars should be sorted out by warranty by now, and the DIY community continues to grow. Parts availability is a challenge and quite costly indeed. However, none of that matters once you get in and drive around the mountain or track. Even at ten years old, it still hangs with many new sports/supercars. Remember the super low production numbers compared to the others. Roughly 600 coupes, and about 2,900 Spiders, make this one of the rarer supercars. Some estimates say they made close to 20,000 458s. Again, not taking anything away from how amazing the 458 sounds, looks, and drives, but people are sleeping on the 12C. Buy one now or two, as these will skyrocket in the next five years.
Not sure where you got the coupe-spider numbers from? From what I have seen it's meant to be about 2000 coupes and 1400 spiders which would absolutely make sense if you look at the production years. Coupe around for much longer. The 650s was the other way around as spider was available from the offset.
You CAN take cars like this to the supermarket if you use wide parent and parking spaces 😜 love these reviews with father and son. The 12c always been better looking than the p1 inspired later cars. I’d love to own one of these.
It came out the same time Ferrari 458 did. except it has a smaller engine with turbo. However, something tells me that this is going to stands its own market in the next few years as it has a very good chassis.
Great video and very insightful; reinforced my belief that the 12C is a classic. Only thing putting me off would be reliability, and what actual ownership is like if you're putting decent miles, say 6-12k per year. Time to look at your other other vids, and others, out there in RUclips land. Cheers

This and the P1 are my favorite McLarens of the present era. Everything else feels half-baked and not different enough from those two by comparison. Always had a soft spot for the 12C, silly name and ownership idiosyncrasies aside, and nice to see the car gaining the following it never got when brand new.
We've always liked the 12c... Also on our list is the 675LT, which I think is the perfect middle ground between the 12C and the P1. The 650s felt like a design experiment for the front of the car, ignoring the rear. The 675LT nailed it in my opinion.
Would be high on my list for 3rd car. Sub 100k vs 150k + for a F458. But. I know this sounds boring but taking a small golf bag and a folding trolley is a must or I'd hardly ever use it.
I can't say if it fits good clubs or not. It's not my thing... As for the 458, I've only driven one on track, but I don't think it's £50k+ better... I guess it's all down to taste.
I can imagine that would make for a much more dynamic experience. Many manufacturers were at one time offering manual options on supercars but few were buying them... hence their rarity today... So I can imagine, it wasn't worth the R&D to make that an option.
