      Haha! Maybe!
      It was really just a test of the legs too. He is so strong right now, I mean he let up on the decent and just pushed for a gap at the line too. Not really a big effort for him considering the form he’s shown all tour.

      Jonas and others had to pushc as much pretty much he was isolated till descend when Laport and Remčo help him chase him back than Pog sitp up and did final punchy psrint last 300 metres or so when Jonas had to sprint too and was not on his wheel when that happened so he had to spend pretty much almost as much effort as Pogačar himself

    I felt that Pog did not go full gas on the descent, he was saving his legs... what he did do is make the entire front line of Visma explode their legs... all four of them went full gas to bring Jonas back. Of course there are many ways to do the analysis... that is just my take. I disagree with you Chris about Jonas sitting back and not worrying about Remco, making it Pog problem. Remco is so far behind Pog that a few minutes would not matter to him. Remco is Jonas problem to solve

    Congratulations to EF Education and Super Carapaz for the AMAZING win! The team has sold out every single day for a stage win, so I’m very happy they finally got their coveted stage win. Chris Wout said to a Belgian interviewer that Jonas was a bit cracking down and that luckily, Wout and Tiesj were there to help Jonas chasing after Remco. Remco says he's still riding for 3rd place, but he also said that his form keeps rising. Later on, another Belgian interviewer was really pushing the question of whether Remco was honestly not thinking about the 2nd place, Remco smiled and said "Yes". This kid is so refreshing. He speaks his mind. He tries now to be more humble, but if a Belgian interviewer really pushes, he still speaks his mind.😂 That's how he's.

    I think its becoming quite clear that jonas body did not fully recover, even if he was still improved in some ways from last year. It is not unthinkable that he will lose second spot this year as well because bad prep for time trial. I think that visma has a big problem because it cannot support jonas in mountains. UAE can outperform visma in mountains so the only way to break tadej is jonas pulling by himself and tadej will constantly benefit in that position. It's a lose lose setup for visma. Add in that tadej has been doing big work on improving himself and that makes it damn near impossible to break him this year. UAE looks also much improved in most ways compared to last year. Visma basically got the worst luck they could, leader got greatly injured 3 months before tour and missed most prep + recovery - the one they had for mountains had to pull out from covid. We will have to wait to see next year whether jonas can match tadej under more equal conditions, or whether tadej simply improved too much. Remco also looking amazing this year, he could become huge.

    One thing I've noticed is that Remco and Tadej have been cooling down after stages on time trial bikes while Jonas has been cooling down on a road bike. A big moment in today's battle was Remco attacking on the last climb and Jonas did not follow. Normally Jonas would follow Remco and then counter. But he does not and relies on his teammates first Laporte then Van Aert to keep the gap close. Then when Tadej jumped to the finish Jonas was unable to get on the wheel. This shows he is carrying significant fatigue as he is exponentially losing his ability to use his explosive zones.

    I don’t think Visma was ever trying to win. Earlier in the first week he said plainly “we expected to be 2 or more minutes behind”. 2 or more min? That’s the same as saying I expected to lose the tour after stage 3. You can’t tell me vismas plan for 1st was to hope jonas’ could take more than 2 min lost in week 1 from TP and UAE sometime on stage 15 not fully knowing Jonas’s form. That’s why Jonas pulled TP
    For 5km. He’s not trying to put time on TP. He’s putting time on RE. Jonas doesn’t make those obvious stupid tactical mistakes. The plan was race for second, hope for 1st.

      @@living4speed680 That is the problem, he doesn't have decent legs and appears to be getting more fatigued each day. He almost crashed into the barriers on stage 15. He doesn't have the base to be able to recover well, and he will probably lose considerable more time Friday thru Sunday. Especially with Remco eager to move into 2nd.

      Visma is going to ride defensively, if they don't they are going to blow up Jonas. He is too fatigued and doesn't have the base to recover during this hard tour. Remco will probably take time on him on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday.

    Idc what anyone says about Pogacar attacking like he does, nobody else is gonna do anything so might as well make it fun for the fans while it last. Go Pogi😎
    Also i wanna say Vingegaards team strategy early in the race was a waste of energy if they wanted to get rid of Pogacar that was never gonna work.

    I’d much rather burn through my team and gain a couple seconds than burn through my team and lose a few seconds!
    I see this as a UAE victory. The Jumbo team mates did a ton of work, possibly more than UAE. Jonas looked like he was one step away from cracking, had it not been for his 2 or 3 teammates up the road he would have lost a lot more time. People don’t get stronger in the 3rd week of the TdF, not even Jonas - and especially coming off serious injuries with limited training!

    Great day for all racing fans today! The "Big 3" locked horns, and it looks like we may have some knucklehead tactics from Pog, but hey, it was sure exciting! No more snooze-fests! Most of Pog's fans don't care if he wins the TDF (just kidding) - they've already crowned him Caesar of this year's race regardless of the outcome. Meanwhile, the Danish contingent has swapped their Viking horns for tissues because, let's face it, tissues are versatile-perfect for wiping away tears or polishing those non-existent trophies. 😆🚴‍♂

    Chris, I think it wasn't a wholly knukclehead move from Tadei. He also had a teammate ahead and he could hope for his assistance. But Sivakov didn't help him, when it was really necessary... In addition to this, It was bad luck that Remco was in the same group with Jonas and his teammate Laporte.
    If one of these two cases were different, Tadei would get much more time on Jonas.

    Knucklehead move imho. The only way he loses the tour is if he cracks. This is still possible given he has the giro in his legs too. The best way to avoid cracking is to take it easy if you can. The mostly lilely way it happens is if you spend too much energy. Still three important stages to come. If he cracks big on 19 or 20 he could lose the tour.

    I am not an expert on pro cycling and Chris has forgotten more about tactics than I know but, I think Chris is not taking into consideration that Tadej is just on another planet and yes he has had bad moments in the previous tours but he is in his prime now. Stronger than he has ever been. Jonas had to learn that the hard way.

    @janweyant8902 Месяц назад

    Ok, wow this really HAS been the best TdF ever. Such unexpected stuff. Learnings: 1) Remco is getting better throughout this race, 2) Tadej... where IS his limit... does he even HAVE one? He's flying. He races aggressively like an amateur (but with the fitness to support it) and it's FUN to watch because we don't see racers racing like this at this level... most race conservatively. NOT Tadej, he gets 'bored' possibly or feels good and just GOES because he CAN and wants to....WHY NOT? Question is, will he have a bad day. Last year he did. But we haven't seen it yet... will we???? 3) Jonas...:( He seems to be losing fitness or is out of energy reserves against this very aggressive approach that Tadej has been taking.... he's having trouble responding to attacks and not able to get onto Tadej's wheel. Thank GOODNESS for Benoot! He saved Jonas yesterday. This is WHY cycling is a TEAM sport. It's absolutely necessary to have domestiques support their team leaders so they CAN race and attack later in these stages. Let's see how the next few days go but Jonas maybe is missing some top-level training leading up to the tour and that missing fitness is now starting to show esp. with two very aggressive competitors? We'll see what happens next few days and the TT but I think it's possible Remco ends up in 2nd!

  • @awakenedbahamut2574
    @awakenedbahamut2574 Месяц назад

    I thought UAE could have tried to get Tadej a stage win today. By the time the big break was starting to form, it was close enough in the stage. I don't think it would have been too much energy to just do that.
