Hope the other guys all start attacking each other and Pog follows and follows and with 2KM left goes for the stage win. TeeJay might have a full blown meltdown on set
Tejay on peacock was INSUFFERABLE today. It’s a top level pro sport and he suggests Tadej should throw stages and stop being “thirsty”. Who even says that? What a joke. Embarrassing as a US fan.
He’s is absolutely insufferable last couple of days!! Constantly pining about EF like there are the only team. Seems odd that he’s allowed to peacock while being a paid team director! And for sure a Tadej hater

So freaking annoying!! This ain’t little league at the ymca where everybody gets a trophy!! Thank you so much Chris Horner for educating me, because of you I now enjoy watching cycling more than I’ve ever had. I love understanding the tactics that go into all this stages!! Thank you!!
Much better take than Lance, whom I rarely watch. They ripped Tadej today, but who doesn't go for the Queen stage if you have the legs? And he CLEARLY has the legs. Poor Jonas on the other hand, my God he looked absolutely spent at the end today, he looked broken. Nothing but respect for Jonas' effort, simply amazing.
lance's take wasn't exactly on how correct it is to be "greedy" he only said that this kind of behavior draws a negative kind of attention, basically people begin to think he is juiced. and lance certainly is someone who can talk about that, only difference he was actually taking drugs
Can you imagine how they'd react if someone suggested Jorgenson should have sat up and gifted the stage to someone on a weaker team like Yates/Jayco, b/c after all, Visma already has so many wins, and is so much stronger as a team. Tejay and Brookwalter are beta males, pathetic excuses and should be replaced in the booth ASAP. Outside their little echo chamber, there is no major dislike of Pogi or his tactics.
I’m all about POG going for the win ! When you got it flaunt it. Cause every cyclist know fitness never last forever. My riding buddies go out every weekend and sprint for town signs and hill top finishes. If I win one, I hope I beat their best.I don’t want no gifts.
@@ChrisHornerCycling Did not see in on tv. Thanks for the "bottleless" hint. Think similar thing happened to Pogacar when his team car could not support him the last 25km, before Vingegaard caught and outsprinted him

3rd 😂. What NBC in the post race talking about how Tadej should ease up on the attacks, or let people win, that whole discussion was disgusting Chris 😡. Tadej is not breaking any rules, he's not acting unprofessionally towards other riders. He's not "showing people up". He is doing his job. Why did NBC feel that they needed to even entertain such a discussion. NBC post race deserves major knucklehead awards

Nils Pull-it's performance was even more impressive than Pog's. He not only pulled the peloton up the Col de Vars but also up most of the Cime de la Bonette, dropping 'climbers' of the calibre of Gaudu and Onley.
I agree. Where there is smoke, there is fire. A guy who races Roubaix terrain and then does a GT and drops pure climbers is certainly something. Via etti and Co. have the best doctors in the sport. 😂👏👏👏 I’m just waiting for another Armstrong 2.0 saga to play out. 😂👏👏👏

The biggest differences in form always show up at the end of the most difficult stages. That's what makes cycling dramatic. It's expected. And Pogacar is a cut above but he's not an X-Man Mutant or something like that. He has the perfect morphology to ride the GTs and classics and trains his butt off out of love of cycling.
I'm a total Tadej fan and always love watching him. I respect his attitude to everyone and absolutely love the cycling this year. A wonderful shout out to Jonas that he is showing such incredible guts. UAE team of only 7 are brilliant!!!
The quintessential moment of this TDF was Pogacar effortlessly gliding past his main rivals. Then taking chunks of time from the breakaway in an exponential manner. He is the best, ruling the race at will. Again, I say he must ride in the Vuelta. He may never have another chance to win all three grand tours in one year. Pogacar doesn't seem at all tired from riding 40 stages in grand tours. He would be the hands-down favorite to win the Vuelta bar a crash.
He's going to the Olympics, AFAIK. And nobody can say when he will need rest. I would say it's better to enjoy the double and whatever he gets for the rest of the year and only then should he think about doing all 3 GT's in the same calendar year. 3 riders have won all 3 GTs consecutively, but not in the same year. Nobody has ever won all 3 GTs in the same year.
Agreed: He has to try the triple because he can do it! But see the interview: glassy eyes. He was on the limit, breathing quite hard on his way to victory. Vingegaard went over all limits and needs some serious recovery to challenge Pogacar next year.
Anyone calling Tadej “greedy” is insecure, narrow minded, and jealous. By that logic, what is Merckx? Or Jordan? Or Gretzky? And Armstrong calling Tadej greedy is the summit of irony.
the only reason lance is saying that is because he is convinced that pogi is doping is clear he thinks that, what bothers me is that nobody said anything last year when vingegard put 7 min to tadej in 2 stages, now tadej is up 3 min and has to give up a stage? because if not he is greedy what a joke
@your_turn361 Even if he's not doping, it's important to maintain a positive image within the peleton, and rides like today's don't really help with that. He could have gained lots of time on GC without winning the stage. I think that Tadej is probably using things that aren't banned yet. He doesn't seem at all concerned about how suspicious his performances look.
Teejay and Brent were absolute crap after the stage today when they criticized Pog. First, Visma tried to set themselves up to humiliate Tadej and Tadej turned the tables on them. Second, I remember the big celebration after Cav won his 35th. No talk about him being selfish, even after the years when he had 4,5 and even 6 wins.
Completely agree! How would feel winning knowing you never had the upper hand and weren’t the better athlete but here you go you get a trophy too. BS! May the best man win. They’re rooting for a team that shit on Sepp for winning the vuelta and his own team attacking and dropping him. Tadej was elated when Yates won yellow and worked for him. Now who’s the real selfish person! Powless said it best. If he gave the win away then he would’ve just shit on his own teams hard work to get him the win.
Winning sprints and going for a GC title are two completely different worlds. The GC is a long game (Grande) and points and stage wins are short games.
Excellent congratulations to Jonas! Jonas has been a stud. So has Remco. Those guys were badly injured and are riding at an elite level. Tadej is healthy and other worldly. I wish the Big Four had all been healthy.
Thanks for shouting out to Jonas. Imagine if he wasn’t there? I was impressed with Jonas no matter what happens. I though he was a boring wheel sucker but I’ve got mad respect. Dude almost died a few months ago
Absolutely correct about the ABYSMAL Peacock coverage. It’s like they have nothing but utter contempt for the sport. I’ve been watching with the sound OFF.
plan A for Visma was actually Vingegaard attacking on the Bonnette, but he radio'd in during the stage that he wasnt feeling very good. so then they switched to plan B, the stage win. but the teamleaders said afterwards they thought they needed at least 4 and a half minutes, while they only had 4, so i guess they also saw this coming already before they started the last climb.
Yep. uAE just to strong for any plan to work out today. Great stage and lots of respect to Jonas arrive in July ready to go. That’s seriously pro level dedication. 👊🦋
Tadej after being demolished by TJV 2 years in a row is now greedy for wanting to win it all. You guys heard no complains from the slovenian when he was losing and he fought until his very last kick and still showed sportmanship towards the end
I would love to see Chris Horner, Lance Armstrong and George Hincapie in the same podcast discuss why you should go for 6 win vs you should let other win debate!!
I don't get the "hate" for Pogi dominating...we are witnessing HISTORY....Pogi destroyed the Giro doing Zone 2/3 (okay so probably not really but I kid}, then he gets his revenge for last year's domination at the hands of JV and Jonas. Just sit back and watch the NEW CANNIBAL.
There’s some criticism of Tadej for winning this stage. They’ve said he really didn’t need it. Really!? It’s the TDF! I think you leave nothing to chance!
Chris. You’re my Every Stage Highlight of the Tour. Thanks so much for your creative and experienced insight on every stage and race. You’re the Best. Cheers from Canada. Go Gee Eh…
Chapeau to Mateo "sans bidon" Jorgenson, tip of the spear all day and only Tadej could catch him. In Tadej's mind maybe something like this: "No way is the guy who beat me the last two years going to get out of his hospital bed and do it again." Everyone else is just collateral damage.
Only a cyclist would whine Pogacar didn’t “give up the win”. Any outsider watching would expect the yellow jersey to win at every chance. This is the only sport where wins are given away. Someone tell NBC guys that’s only for your own teammate.
I was shocked as hell hearing what Teejay and the guys were saying on Peacock. Professional athletes at the highest level of the sport want gifts?? Jorgensen and everyone else started and finished at the same line that Pogacar did and had every chance to beat him but didn’t. Oh well. The most disrespectful thing I’ve ever seen in sports was when Contador gave that stage to Schleck and then patted him on the cheek like a little kid. Is that what these dudes want? Geez.
I really hope that Pogačar is 100% clean. He is not just beating his closest competition, every mountain stage he is crushing them, riding away from them like they out of shape. It reminds of the many times Armstrong did the same thing.
@@oscarw1060 You got to be kidding!! Cadel!! Egan!!! Jonas!!!!! Gotta get your head out of the sand! No such thing has happened ever. Doping in one way or another has existed since the tour inception.

Chris does the best analysis in youtube. I like Bob Roll, it is an art to talk for 5 hours about the landscape, wine and cheese when nothing is happening in the race, respect.
The color commentators often don't even have any experience in the sport. Bob Roll helped Andrew Hampsten with the 1988 Giro. But yeah, he's not a great analyst and Chris Horner's experience is almost the opposite from Bob's. Chris Horner got a good contract in France and didn't do as well as he had hoped. But he kept at it and I assume through learning how to think he learned how to use what form he had to keep doing better and better and finally won the Vuelta after his 40th birthday. There are not a lot of stories like that in cycling and now the guy has a nice RUclips channel and you can appreciate how his mind works.
I love Bob and Phil personally, altho Phil can be stuffy. Bob was there when USA finally got some riders in the Tour, and he has extensive knowledge. Chris has really found his niche and his post race analysis is stellar! (maybe a wee hypomanic but heck its good gumbo.) It is really hard to see Chris fitting in with the toxic situation in the NBC studio. Even Christian moved out onto the motos and is doing great work.
First and FOREMOST, we ALL keep forgetting that Vingegaard, by ALL medical logic, should not even BE there at Le Tour 2024! He applied himself so well, it was easy for us all to overlook his 'condition'. From the moment he stood at the Start Line, that was an admirable moment worthy of a personal Yellow Jersey Victory! If Vinny was not there, imagine the carnage Pogy would've unleashed!
@@abastabul9115it is an excuse. You don't understand cycling. Look at Tadej last year with a much less significant injury. Training matters. Jonas, like Tadej last year, missed a bunch of tour prep, leadup races, altitude camps. I was rooting for Matteo to win the stage, but at about the 5 km to go banner, it felt like he was being chased by the Terminator and the ending was inevitable.
The Visma attack today was totally doomed and futile. TP dominance has been established. No way Jorgensen was going to beat UAE / Pogaçar. I guess JL had to try anyway.
Pogacar is absolute phenomenal! But a rider who also impresses me is Politt. This big guy rides in front of the peloton almost half of the tour and even on the big climbs he pedals at a pace which let good climbers drop out of the back - as a guy of 80+kg weight! Of course at any point he is done then - but does the same thing the next day! Hats off!!
Chris, astute observation as always regarding Jorgensen’s dehydration w/o a bidon. Could see how his shorts were totally salt-caked. How could Visma get that so wrong?
Pogi is an absolute beast this year. Even if the other big 3 were at peak fitness, my money is on Pog with this UAE team. Would be truly epic for Tadej to do the Vuelta but he probably won’t. Really hard to pull for the Slovenian because his enthusiasm and smile is contagious. Super happy for Jorg, he is Visma’s star in the making, a phenomenal break out year. Hope he finishes top 10. He will win a GT someday
I’m a Jonas supporter, and appreciate the impartiality of Chris. We’ve got to recognize when Tadej isn’t being a knucklehead. It sucks for Visma, but yeah if Tadej made his whole team suffer and has the legs, he shouldn’t hold back. Last year I felt bad for Tade when he cracked, but he grew stronger. I hope this will only improve Jonas! (yes also with better preparation and no crash) What doesn’t kill you make you stronger ! Go Jonas 2025 ! 😂
I love this attack by Pogacar! Let me explain why: 1) Tadej took it personal how he got worked by Jumbo Visma in 2021 by Roglic and Vingegaard 2) last yr after recovering from a broken wrist, Jonas put in over 7mins! to embarrass Pogi 3) Jumbo Visma won all 3 Grand Tours last yr! a total domination I haver personally never seen, watching this since 2000. 4) This will be a big narrative and fuel for next year to see how Jonas and Visma respond! I believe for these reasons, Pogacar does not want to let Visma win any stage whatsoever and I truly hope Pogi do La Vuelta and win it and do the Ultimate Reverse Uno card on Team Visma. Finally, the never ending narrative of taking and giving punches, revenge, retaliation etc etc! this is what is keeping cycling exciting at the moment and will be historic! this decade so far has been phenomenal for cycling! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
great analysis. also, maybe pogi is wise beyond his years and realize that it only takes a little mishap for him to be mortal again. and he’s living in the moment and not assuming that he will be like this forever.
Exactly. Virus. Crash. Mechanical at the wrong time. And he is done. He might as well excel while he has the health and strength and a good team. What a show today.
Living in the now. Exactly. I grew up a couple miles away from where his parents have a home and rode past daily, raced when he wasn't even born yet, had great results and his type of passion. He should never rely on tomorrow because tomorrow may never come. His racing finally put fire up everybody's a$$. Let's also not forget: he races against many of the guys w/ family life and responsibilities of that which he doesn't have and has a gf that does the same which in a way is perfect because she can understand him and give him enough space to focus only on racing this hard. Most riders have lots of emotional attachments which burdens your focus. Tadej has very little of that. Last year was very hard for him because Urska's mother who want even old passed away, so he had to be there to support her. There's many layers to all this racing that lots of people totally disregard and are not aware of.
I don't think Jonas put 7 mins on Tadej to embarrass him. He is not the type of that is fueled by negative emotions. And I'm not sure either that Tadej's seeking revenge over Visma. They are in it to win it for themselves. You see a lot of respect between these riders after the race. They know what it takes and they respect their peers. An example is when Jonas waited for Tadej when he crashed instead of putting more time on him which would have been okay to do since bike handling and good technique is par of winning and losing.
@@Nyelands good point, i guess I didnt word it properly. What I meant was by having that 7min gap last year, Pogi may have been embarrased by his own performance not necessarily Vingegaard doing it on purpose like you said. I do have to disagree on your second point. Pogi has a big gap already and the last 2 stages he let Carapaz and Campanaert go, and they were not interested in chasing. Today they had 3 visma on the breakaway and UAE paced the entire time. Then again all speculation 😅
All the commentary saying Tagej is being greedy and needs to not make enemies in the pelaton are just living in the past. If the Giro and Tour have showed us anything it's UAE has ridden both races with their own strategy regardless of what anyone else is doing. Tadej is clearly the best rider in the world atm and is setting the bar for what you need to do to beat him. I think the issue Jonas faced today was even if he attacked he would get brought back by Tadej and use up all his energy and be unable to respond to a late Remco attack so he was forced to just sit on Remco and not risk loosing time.
@@wesb123It’s certainly possible, but unlikely. Pogi is easily the most consistent world tour cyclist at the moment and has been for the past several years.
I watched the interviews. UAE just executed their plan for the stage. As Tadej said, they had even planned out the exact spot for his attack. Visma's plan A on the other hand was to have satellite riders. When Jonas called the DS that he had a bad day, they had to make up a plan B.
Mauro Gianetti has said that he won't allow Pogi to do Vuelta. He said: "Taking part in the Vuelta is absolutely out of the question. I will not allow Tadej to compete in the Vuelta. He is an extraordinary person, a great champion, but he is flesh and blood, and it is our responsibility to take care of him and his future. It is up to us and cycling, which has a top and popular rider in its ranks thanks to him, to keep an eye on him."
Visma really blew the #1 Rule with Jonas. As much as I like Wout, Visma would have been less divided if they had bought a dog for a mascot instead. Jonas could use "Only the Lonely" for a theme song.

Awesome Chris. You are always fair to every rider when giving your insights. The grand tour stages that Pogi won this year is more than the other commentator criticising Pogi has won in his entire career.
Tadej taking th stage away from Visma lesa a bike felt like payback of some kind. Not malicious but its competition. Tadej shook Matteos hand afterwards to acknowledge his solo effort for 2nd place on the stage.
Calling out the NBC coverage. Someone needs to say it. Love Phil and Bob as well as the professionals supporting them, but the product is trash. Eurosport makes them look like rank amateurs. I actually miss GCN.
Tadej is mature enough now to know, nothing is certain in cycling. Next year could be completely different; Jonas and Visma will be on a revenge misison, Remco will be even better, let's see what Bora and Ineos will do as well...
One thing seems clear now. Since last year's TdF, Tadej did a good of hiding the bitterness of his defeat. All that smiling he did last year was just a facade. He was steaming over the winter.
Should Tadej go for the triple? Chris who could come up against Tadej in the Vuelta? Maybe UAE won’t have the stacked roster they brought to TDF. But all other teams are looking pretty smoked as well! Maybe Roglic can recover from his bad form / crashes and then we see a classic Slovenian 1 on 1… a man can dream!!
Anyone talking about Tadej’s greed and lack of class wasn’t exactly crying rivers last year at the Vuelta when Jonas and Primoz were taking turns attacking Sepp Kuss, their own team leader. Most of Pog’s critics were as silent as a mime in a library. And if we’re talking about class, that move was as classy as robbing your parents' house and then asking for a thank-you note. Clearly, for Jonas’ supporters, class is all about who you’re rooting for, and their objectivity is about as reliable as a raccoon in a cherry orchard-completely biased and a little mischievous. Pog was utterly destroyed and humiliated by Visma LAB last year. Remember when their SD was shouting over the radio during the TT, knowing it was broadcasted worldwide: “Jonas, show them who is the best rider in the world, show them who is the king!” Then were the stages where he piled up over 7 minutes and 30 seconds on Pog. So, to the Viking contingent: if you have thin skin, remember, karma can be a real trickster.

I felt so bad for Jorgenson after seeing him lose the stage win so close to the finish, but he should hold his head up high for putting on such an amazing ride to come in second to the legend of Tadej Pogacar. While this is likely going to be a tour to forget for Visma, I think this is an unforgettable performance for Jorgenson and really sets him up to be another super domestique/potential GC contender, just like the other American in Sepp Kuss. This is Jorgenson’s first season with Visma and already he has shown himself to be an incredible rider. Very excited to see how he continues to develop.
I don’t , those two boys should have gone up the road like they did , back off grab JV and give one huge effort to try get JV some time . Pog was on the rivet It could have payed off . And then JV give a TT of his life and go for broke to win the tour , not and no way settle for second. It’s the first looser , and at World Tour level it’s win or nothing.

I would hate to think that I can't ever seen an athlete perform at his limit. Especially at the most important races. And yeah, that includes each stage. If he wants to rest a little for the last ITT that's on him. But to bridge at the front and wait to see if his rival can also bridge in order to gift a stage or be a good Social Justice Warrior...these people are insane and so tiresome.
So let me get this straight - you have 3 min delta to your pursuer and two more stages. You personally would rather leave it at those 3 mins and not try to increase to create a buffer? Damn, you play poker? How much ahave you lost by now?
I cant understand how they gave Carapaz the most combative award and not Jorgenson. Jorgensen in the break all day, then attacks on his own and doesn't get most combative is questionable.
People are getting “twisted up” about his winning so many stages and I get it. I always root for Jonas but he lost the last 2 tours to him. Why not win in dominating fashion. No doubt in anyone’s mind he is the strongest rider in the world. Makes things more interesting for next year.
I dont care about Tadej being "greedy", if you can win, then win. What i will say is that it draws a whole lot of extra attention to the doping question. I hope hes clean and has nothing to hide, but he cant act surprised if it brings more heat on him.

Go Tadej

I hope this will only improve Jonas! (yes also with better preparation and no crash)
What doesn’t kill you make you stronger ! Go Jonas 2025 ! 😂
I love this attack by Pogacar! Let me explain why:
1) Tadej took it personal how he got worked by Jumbo Visma in 2021 by Roglic and Vingegaard
2) last yr after recovering from a broken wrist, Jonas put in over 7mins! to embarrass Pogi
3) Jumbo Visma won all 3 Grand Tours last yr! a total domination I haver personally never seen, watching this since 2000.
Jumbo didn’t have much difficulty beating him last tour. Now Jonas is having an off year. It’s just as likely that Pog will be tired again next year.

Why are the NBC talking heads concern with Visma getting a win? They won all three grand tours last year.

One thing is for sure. When it comes to men’s cycling, people have very strong opinions and emotions. Whew! Comments can get pretty sassy!
Are you kidding? This channel and comments are so clean, and free from swearing and the overused F. Tip of the hat to @Chris Horner for setting the congenial tone.
I was talking across the board not just this forum. 😉
Drove all the way to Bend to get this sooner....;) Just kidding, riding trip,.
Pretty funny listening to some pundits saying Tadej shouldn't be taking all these stages... INSANE. It's professional sport, and if he can win, he should win. Thoughts Chris?
Thanks again, and Summit is a solid hill...!
Go win it. It’s the TdF. Especially when there is a Visma rider in it. 👊🦋🇫🇷
The miracle is Jonas, I never thought he could ride this TDF at this level, 4 months ago week in the icu, tadej is great, and uninjured, imagine if they're both healthy, but even this TDF was good for about 2 weeks, amazing 😊
Peacock unfortunately needs to appeal to the general population, so they got the perfect B-Team to do it! I follow You and Eurosport! It was nice watching a legend today and Pogačar was good too!😃 Go Chris Horner!
First of all I want to say Pogacar didn't have to attack today and drop Evenepoel and Vingegaard but when you are Pogacar you can't stop😂.
Pogacar attacking makes the race entertaining and shows how good he is at his best.
💥🔥🦋🦋
I would hate to think that I can't ever seen an athlete perform at his limit. Especially at the most important races. And yeah, that includes each stage. If he wants to rest a little for the last ITT that's on him. But to bridge at the front and wait to see if his rival can also bridge in order to gift a stage or be a good Social Justice Warrior...these people are insane and so tiresome.
Go big 👊🦋💪
So let me get this straight - you have 3 min delta to your pursuer and two more stages. You personally would rather leave it at those 3 mins and not try to increase to create a buffer? Damn, you play poker? How much ahave you lost by now?
@@jonskislo1 Riders that compete like that are also hated. There are haters for every situation, actually.
Makes things more interesting for next year.
right. if there was another sprint stage and binay won it; would everyone say he already won 3, give it to someone else?
I dont care about Tadej being "greedy", if you can win, then win. What i will say is that it draws a whole lot of extra attention to the doping question. I hope hes clean and has nothing to hide, but he cant act surprised if it brings more heat on him.
I don't know if he wants revenge, I mean, he won the 2 hardest stages at the Giro as well even though it wasn't necessary. He just takes the win whenever he sees the opportunity to do it
Once there was a team Called INEOS!
Could n't see them this year!😱
"Jonas made it interesting"... something you don't hear often 🤣 sorry Jonas, love ya!
