I think you're being a bit harsh on Roglic for crashes, while yes they have been a significant problem costing him 2021's Paris Nice and 2019's Giro most notably, his crashes in the 2021 and 2022 editions of the Tour De France were not his fault. 2021 had the now infamous 1st week with 3 Jumbo Visma riders dnf'ing, beginning with the stage 1 "Allez opi omi" sign crash that caught Jumbo Visma at the head of the peloton, and then further incidents that plagued the first week of the tour with terribly designed final sections resulting in many riders going down and Roglic dnf'ing after loosing significant time at the first mountain stage dropping nearly 20 mins. 2022 also was a pretty chaotic first week of the tour with some pretty terrible crashes, not as bad overall as 2021, but for Roglic on stage 6 he'd clip a hay bale positioned horrendously close to the track, and in a technical chicane. He would finish the stage dropping some time, but he dislocated his shoulder at this time, and later would be found to have possibly fractured 2 vertebrae. The fact that he didn't immediately dnf from the tour was impressive, and his heroics in stage 11 absolutely slaughtering Pogacar and UAE in route to securing Vingegaard the initial lead on gc that would only extend with some amazing efforts from Wout played a pivotal role in Pogacar winning the TDF. His winning of the GIro this year proved that he is still a force to contend with and gives him a poetic final major win to his career. I don't think that he will ever win the TDF, that window has come and gone, Vingegaard is simply an alien and a close second to Pogacar, and with him in Jumbo Visma, I can't see Roglic getting another shot at GC as well in the TDF, he's pretty loyal to Jumbo Visma so I think hes gonna run out the rest of his career with them, but given how close this last Giro was, and the fact that his competition wasn't quite the level as the TDF this year (Geraint Thomas, Joao Alemeida, Thibaut Pinot rounding out the gc at the Giro with Remco Evanepoel retiring from the race with covid19 while still in the maglia rosa at the time with quite the lead) I'd doubt that we will be graced with a Roglic win at the TDF. That being said, I hope to god that TJV decide that 2024 is going to be another wierd dual GC TDF and have Roglic Ride as the GC along with Vingegaard, and task Sepp Kuss with the lead GC mantle at the other world tours, maybe even Wout at those, as he'd definitely be a solid option. Depending what happens this year with Vingo, he could get another crack at the tour, next year. But, 1 on 1 it looks impossible to beat Pogacar. So, he’d need a strong team & a little luck.
Maybe if Pogacar+Jonas aint there, no way he will win otherwise he had huge trouble with Almeida+Thomas in the mountains this Vuelta and they are non factors if V+P shows up. He won't be getting younger eihter. Sadly don't see much chance for him winning a tour, then again same could have been argued for Nibali and things "worked out" for him.
He went life and death to win against an over the hill Garent Thomas who wasn’t even competitive against Jonás. I would love for him to add the tdf to his trophy case but seeing the reality of his age and Jonas’ superiority ove him at this point.
I would definitely put Alejandro Valverde to mention here. Folks with more years experience would probably name Raymond Poulidor as a shoo-in. And if Nairo Quintana and Richard Virenque is mentioned at the end of this video then Alex Zülle, Tony Rominger, Gianni Bugno and Claudio Chiapucci certainly needs to be mentioned. Perhaps also Denis Menchov and Andrew Hampsten. You could also say someone like Raphaël Geminiani from the 50s or go way back in time and mention Jean Alavoine before the war.

Although I get creating a narrative of his fearlessness being the reason behidn all his crashes is something u want when trying to make a video on someones career in several sports. Howeve,r it may have been true for his skijumping crash, but there is a different reason for the ones in his cycling years. Lack of experience. Riding in a peloton and positioning there during long races, is a skill u learn over many years, most riders who make it to pros do this since their (early) youth, him coming in so late at 21 means he hasn't, and it caused most of his crashes whilst in the peloton. And whiel fearlessness may have played a part in some of his other crashes, many can be explained by lack of steering ability and knowing how to go around corners at fast pace, something u need to learn over many years too.
@@AndrezzSpideyzzz I say no. Bet that he will never win the tdf. His days are over. Or half the participants for gc have to crash out. Or not participate that he can ride against an Enric Mas like Evenepoel did on previous Vuelta.
@@Kvs-vf9nt thats hardly an explanation based on trends that dont necessarily have to continue, i can give you a few examples of relatively old ridders winning grand tours such as Gino bartalii who won tdf at 34, cadel evans tdf at 34, chris horner la vuelta at 41, jean marie leblanc tdf at 33, chris froome tdf at 32. my point is, you cant count him out until he gives up, thats pathetic given that his talent is evident for everyone.
Funny story german world tour team Bora-Hansgrohe nearly signed him for his neo-pro contract but Primoz went to Jumbo because the could pay around 10000€ more. With Bora he could have continued to ride Spezialied.
Had a quick look on the two best all time road rankings: "pro cycling stats" and Pieter van Uijtregt's fantastic "cyclingranking". Giving only the riders ranked ahead of Primoz on both sites he's currently behind Girardengo, Bitossi, Poulidor, Binda, Zabel, Rominger, Sagan, Maertens, Saronni, Jalabert, van Looy, Valverde, de Vlaeminck, Moser and Kelly amongst riders not to have won a Tour de France. Saronni, Zabel, Maertens and Sagan (and arguably van Looy and de Vlaeminck) could never think of winning a Tour de France. So Roglic still needs a few more successes elsewhere to get amongst the top ten of great riders with any kind of chance who failed to close the deal.
Obviously this refers to riders who are capable of winning it but never have, while some on your list fit that, many don't. As you said, the likes of Zabel and Sagan could never hope that have a chance, they arent as allround as is needed to win such a Tour. Roglic clearly does.
@@TerranigmaQuintet either obviously or ignorantly. There's not much sign of any awareness of the riders of the first hundred years of the race. Obviously second best rider of the past 20 years to never win the tour is less attention grabbing if rather closer to the truth.

Damn why wasn't he in the tour of France this year, he's a better cyclist than Vingegaard, he could've won last year tour if not because of the accident he had :(
No. Not with a fit Vingegaard there too. As it is, there's isn't a pro rider that can beat Jonas' numbers in week three of a GT when fit. Best bet for the coming years will most likely continue to be Pogacar if he's willing to prioritise the Tour over all else.
The thing is he has always been the second best or the 3rd best. I think there is definitely others that should be considered the best to never to win. Hes just the best not to win in the last 5-10 years. He is going for the second most contested races in the giro and vuelta. And thats where the second or third best wins. As you cannot do either if you do tdf. The schedule is too tight to recover. So hes a very good and elite rider but he lacks that last umpf to be the best. But also in giro and vuelta I dont see him beating Remco - except when he pulls out of the race as in the giro this year.
Roglic is One of the greatest that has ever raced. His best form is still ahead of him. He can beat Pogacar, Vingegaard and Evenepoel. People like you want to write his story and make your narrative. He is behind Froome, the rider with the most grand tours who aren t retired. Put some respect on his name
Remco is the strongest... when he doesn't race. It's funny how stuff like the Tour de Suisse (aka when Remco underperforms) just gets ignored & doesn't count.
Wee bit different rider, not actually a GC/3 week guy, although he did win the Vuelta, KING KELLY. Best cyclist,by far, not to win the Tour. Again, not really a TDF type.
Perhaps went into the '83 tour as favourite with Hinault absent and led into the mountains but heat and climbs proved too much, finishing 7th behind the debut winner Fignon. Three more top tens in the '80s followed (never better than 4th in '85) with crashes ruining any chances from '86 to '88. Too talented to miss the classics and required by sponsors to ride every race in Spain, France was always ridden at the end of months of frenetic activity.
Roglic just won the last giro cause evenepoel had to go home for nothing...it s no true victory. This man would win nothing when the opponents would have been stronger in giro and vuelta. He struggled so much in his career. So much chances with jumbo. He s nothing compared to other performances in the past and athletes. Sorry.

Here during the 2024 tour de france in witch he crashed again... (twice before giving up)
You’ve got to feel for him
The best cyclist to never win the Tour is obviously Lance Armstrong.
LOL
Lance is the GOAT... The others it's just a cyclists...

Cycling owes Roglic a Tour de France just like Football owed Leo Messi a World Cup.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 cycling does not owe him nothing. He need to take whatever he can salvage before his time come to an end
roglic is a specialist in failure. As a ski jumper especially and also as a cyclist when you be honest. how many tour de france stages did he win? How many big battles did he won? How old is he already. I guess max 2 years and he retires as a looser
@@pascalb.7126All those wins and you call him a loser 😂 bro you for real?😂
@@pascalb.7126 he technically has more Grand tours at the moment than vingegaard and pogi combined. Within the last 10 years of GTs, that makes him second to froome with nibali at 4 too. It's not TDFs sure....but how does only missing out on TDFs make a GC rider a "failure" as a whole in the sport....a sport that he didn't mean to even start until turning 21
@@pascalb.7126Loser? Really? 3 times Vuelta winner and Giro winner? Also Liege Bastogne Liege 2020 winner? Cycling is not just TDF. In that respect all the classics specialists are bunch of losers, because they never won TDF. Didn't start cycling until he was 21?... So you're saying there's a chance?
he was a professional athlete from early age tho
He was used to training schedules and a professional athlete’s lifestyle
Depending what happens this year with Vingo, he could get another crack at the tour, next year. But, 1 on 1 it looks impossible to beat Pogacar. So, he’d need a strong team & a little luck.
He is 33, he aint gonna beat Pog in the Tour ever
Well produced video.
Thank you!
Amazing video, subscribed!
Thank you!
good video! very well made.
He should just go to Ineos and they can surround him with quality people to win TdF.
@@oscarlindvall1053 he crashed badly and had some part of his meat removed.
@@oscarlindvall1053Nibali was only 29 at the time...
Jonas Vinegegaard is participating in Vuelta this is going to be massive GC fight.
Who do you think wins?
Nah. While Roglic is great, he is not on the Level of Vingegaard on grand tours.
Primoz will win the tour de France cuz he still wants to be the best he'll get his chance
Nope

In such a small country, Slovenia, let's argue about who will be at the Tour de France, or whether there will be a confectioner or a primož roglič or a pastry chef. Slovenia took all the Vuelta a Espana, Giro di Italia and Tour de France. SLOVENIA
Hey hey hey, just one word for that title: Poulidor ;)

I am still sure that will Primos one day win at the tour de France
No

One thing we all need to understand about Rogla..mentally he's on a whole next level-nothing we say here will have an impact on his life. Let guy be huh? Good video
Still never a tdf win. Giro against 38y old Thomas is easy.. If he was in this tour be had to ride for that Danish twat. Pogacar best Slovenian and even best off this generation!
going from skii jumping to cycling is wild, i guess he just didnt know how good his cardiovascular system is.
he was a specialist in failure in ski jumping that s why he changed. He is still a loser.
Sadly Primoz will never win the Tour in his career. Pogacar and Vingegaard are in a whole different category. If he started his career sooner he would have been one of the all time greats.
"The Best Cyclist To Never Win The Tour de France" was Raymond Poulidor, Matthieu van der Poel's grandfather!
raymond along with sean kelly for me too
He would fit in Bora-Hansgrohe
Roglic is a great rider. Poulidor, however, with 8 podiums and 11 top tens out of 15 starts, was the best never to win the Tour.
fino je videti kakšen posnetek njega
This is 100 percent incorrect. That title easily goes to Lance Armstrong who never won 7 TDF yellow jerseys in a row!
POULIDOR.
Sean Kelly would like a word…
Primoz will win TDF 2024
Sorry, but poulidor the best cyclist that never won the tour. Not even a discussion.

He is definitely not better than vingegaard.
With the conclusion of this year's Tour in mind, do you honestly still think he could have bested Vingegaard?
lol... the title should be the best cyclist to never finish the Tour de France :D
Except that’d been wrong, he’s finished the Tour three times.
Do you think Roglic has a chance to win the tour de france in the future or has his time past?
If he goes to Ineos he has a chance
Damn I never thought about that, so hopefully he goes to ineos, when his contract expires? Hope is very soon
Jonás crushes him, especially in the 3rd week.
No. Not with a fit Vingegaard there too. As it is, there's isn't a pro rider that can beat Jonas' numbers in week three of a GT when fit. Best bet for the coming years will most likely continue to be Pogacar if he's willing to prioritise the Tour over all else.
So Roglic > Basso?? I think not.
Roglic is one of the greatest
Roglic is One of the greatest that has ever raced. His best form is still ahead of him. He can beat Pogacar, Vingegaard and Evenepoel. People like you want to write his story and make your narrative. He is behind Froome, the rider with the most grand tours who aren t retired. Put some respect on his name
And that Evenepoel stuff? Stage 8 of This giro tells everything i needed to know. Oh and by the way, he still beat remco at Catalunya
Remco is the strongest... when he doesn't race. It's funny how stuff like the Tour de Suisse (aka when Remco underperforms) just gets ignored & doesn't count.
Roglic was 2nd on the tour and 1st in vuelta on the same year,so it can bw done to win 2 GTs in a year. He was mighty close
Uh, drop Virenque and Quintana. Put in Tony Rominger instead.
woahhhh that duo of zulle and rominger was underrated imo

At 1:10 we clearly see where Primoz’s love for bike crashing comes from😂
Richie Porte was the best to never win. Just saying.
