Soak that innovation dollar in acetone and the paint will come off without damaging the coin. The base innovation dollar coin is the only one without a privy mark on the common reverse.
Good idea! I am okay with keeping the paint on though. Gives it character in my opinion 😀 And yes I realized that after a while! I guess that makes it easy to tell if you’ve got the base or not based on the obverse
I am collecting the American Innovation coins. I started by buying a (then) complete set in a collection folder. Since then I have been purchasing two coins (1 D and 1 P) from U.S.S.Q. every time a new coin is released. As expensive as these coins are, I don't really understand how they're ending up in circulation so much on the east coast. They certainly cost a lot more than $1 per coin.
Over here in Australia we have some cool coins that were put in circulation with enamelling out of the mint. Most notable are the Red Poppy coins from (I think) 2012.
0:02 There's a coin dealer in New Hampshire called Littleton, who "colorizes" these Innovation dollars for your collection. You'd be surprised what they charge for their colorized coins... or for anything else, for that matter.
For more things to look for; there are "Position A" and "Position B" regarding the direction of the Edge lettering; look for Missing, Weak, and Doubled Edge lettering; 2005-2010 Mint Sets had the issues in "Satin," they are all technically keys and look different if UNC; look for the 2007 D Sacagawea with Edge Lettering too, it's a rare error but you never know. Also the 1981-S is a better date if you can find it in MS66 or better. There are also the Reverse Proofs from those Coins and Chronicles Sets, but those are more keep them in the set or slab them kind of coins. Painted it damaged and that's not doubling on the '79-P it's "Machine Doubling." Basically it was struck correctly then hit the die as it was being ejected from the striking chamber. It's also damage.
I had been looking for a different coin album for some time. I finally bought a Dansco. I believe this to be a perfect fit for my collection. TY for your assistance Quin. I believe in giving credit were credit is due. Look forward to more videos 👍.
I've been watching you and others so I can learn cuz I've got a collection I never really cracked open yet grandparents had a laundry business back in the thirties forties and fifties so I have a lot of cool coins I inherited😂 so I had to purchase the combo they look really cool I had to get those mats❤👍👍👍👍 ty 😁 😇 can't wait get them 🎉
Are all 2000p sàcagawea dollars cheerios coins? Or just if they have detailed tail feathers? I have one well circulated and hard to see details on feathers..
Painted special edition dollars are known as "Colorized" and are completely normal and usually sold by coin companies. Definitely wasn't done by some Joe Shmoe.
It's kind of crazy how many NIFC dollar coins circulate. 9/10 my rolls will have at least one. I've even managed to snag some sealed rolls from the bank for face value (McKinley & Harding)
That’s awesome! I was able to find an uncirculated roll of James Madison dollars a while back and I’ve held onto that. If they end up being too common, I might not be able to hold onto every single one due to the price 😂
Of what I could see, I could be wrong but those questioned mint marks look to be P (both of them. The scratched and worn mint marks). Another awesome hunt!!!
How come you never see these dollar coins in circulation like in pocket change or cash registers or anything like that? Why do they even make them? I don’t even think they fit in most coin slots. I’ve only found one in circulation outside of the bank.
@@QuinsCoins oh I never knew that! I’ll have to try that. I found one under a check out lane at a store once but yeah other than that, only in banks lol
Quinn, please double check your Grover Cleveland coins. There are two different types because of his two nonconsecutive presidency. I’m pretty sure the coin from five was a type two and not a type one.
I hope this isn't a stupid question, but why did they make all these coins if they're not intended for circulation? If they made them only for collectors, isn't that a form of circulation in itself?
Collecting modern coins is like collecting Chuck E cheese tokens... Also all modern coins look like they were designed on a computer by the editors of highlights magazine. I thought there was going to be an actual gold coin from the title.

Thank you for watching! They're a ton of fun, but also very pricey! :D

Thank you, Quinn, for sharing! I just recently started looking for errors in pennies, love your videos ❤

I bought the 2018 innovation dollars P & D graded ms60. Got enough collections already. Thanks for the help. 👍
Awesome video. I have been hoarding all these dollars. Never going to sell.

Here in canada we have many colorized coins that come out every few years. These are rarer than then regular ones.
Some coins painted like that are special edition collection series

I've got a gold colored quarter that's in very good condition. Is it anything special?

I see them in use quite frequently in vending machines. Try putting a $5 into a vending machine and see what you get back in change!
@@QuinsCoins oh I never knew that! I’ll have to try that. I found one under a check out lane at a store once but yeah other than that, only in banks lol
I got a 1979 P wide rim dollar from the train ticket machine in change!
I’m from Connecticut and would love to find an innovation dollar like that
If you found a Cheerios Dollar would you keep it or cash in on it?
Keep- I’ve never sold anything I’ve found
How do you get $100 box of nickels? Do you sell some of your extras? If you do I need a couple 38 and 39 s
I’m VERY interested in a dollar coin cheat sheet, I have all of your other.
Thanks to you, I realized that I got 26 NIFC Sacajawea dollars out of one box!!!
Take a drink every time he says “not intended for circulation” and “cheerios dollar”
I am awestruck😂
Painted Coins...not 100 percent sure, but supporting your collection dump theory...I believe are from limited release collectors sets.
Quinn, please double check your Grover Cleveland coins. There are two different types because of his two nonconsecutive presidency. I’m pretty sure the coin from five was a type two and not a type one.
Good point! I will be sure to do this in the next video!

What no heritage?😊. 1999 was the last release year, like the 21 Morgan
Great wounded Eagle passes up there
It looks like Littleton sells those colored dollars for $9 didn't see much of anybody else with them.
Thank you for the info!

If you're going to make a dollar coin placemat, don't forget about half dollar coins.
Did I miss the gold coin?
Good hunt! I think it's ok to just say the President's last name, you are authorized to do so. lol
The “painted” coin is part of the colorized innovation set.
Acetone will take that right off
True that!
0:13 annoys my dog
James K. Polk, most famouse for lending his name to Polk highschool where Al Bundy (honored be his name) played football.
Late night TV programs/scammy companies sell stickered/colorized coins for a premium, reality no extra value besides being a novelty
F.Y.I. Grover Cleveland has 2 varieties
That coin is enameled it's made that way I have a nickel that is enameled
2 comment and 16th like 😂😂
Upload your cheat sheet to google sheets!
I ordered my box for my birthday the other day! Getting it on the day after my birthday (the 15th). I'm excited!
Awesome! Good luck on the hunt!! 😁
Next thing you know, you find an 1848 Gold Dollar Coin one day...
