This felt like an Episode of 2005 2006 Confidential.. not sure if that was intended but I'm looking forward to Episode 2 and you hunting down/Making a new head, Good Luck!
Really impressed with your Dalek. I can’t believe they were neglected so much. You’re obviously on a mission to get the original parts to complete it. It’d like to think they’re still around. If they’re with collectors, and you manage to find them, I’d advise you to keep it to yourself that you have the base, skirt and shoulders, as they’re likely to raise their asking price, knowing how eager you are to complete your Dalek. As much as I like your video, I would even consider removing it to avoid collectors recognising you. Good luck!
Thanks for the feedback! After digging around it's looking very unlikely the original head survived at this point (though some other parts may have been sourced!), so I've accepted we probably won't find the head at least. If it turns up at any point in the future after the restoration, I'd definitely attempt to get it, but would also be satisfied with just having accurate replacement parts.
@@SomeBoiOnline Regarding the head. If you can’t find the original head, have you considered trying to find one of the others and having it resprayed. Yeah I know it won’t be the same, but it’ll be as close to the original you’d get. I was never a huge fan of these Daleks on screen. But wow, they do look really intimidating in person.
We do have access to one of the heads, but it belongs to a complete prop, so the owner has kindly allowed us to create a mould from which we can cast an exact replica. Yeah, even as he is now, the dalek is rather intimidating to see gliding around at such a large size.
@ who knows someday I might get lucky with something like you did with this. Doubtful that I’d find an original prop cause I’m in the States but you never know 🤷🏽♂️
To me the mishandling of the Paradigm Daleks was one of the biggest failings of Doctor Who before the Chinballs and nuRTD days, not just becuase they were pieces of the show's long history that were just thrown away but also because with their passing we lost basically all ability to follow the Daleks' on-screen story (like, which point in their history does any post-2012 Dalek story take place?). So it's truly amazing to see one of these props being restored with such love and care and I'll be rooting for its complete restoration... and maybe the return of the Paradigm in an official story again, too, if we're really lucky!
Agreed, there's a clear storyline from "Dalek" in 2005 up until Victory that you can follow. Then all of a sudden the bronze daleks are back, there's millions of them everywhere and It's been like that ever since. Thanks for the support! Really glad I ended up with a Paradigm prop, as they not only meant so much to me, but represent "what could've been". It would be great to realise that someday.
Excellent restoration 😀 I've one of those Voc heads somewhere at home, possibly from the same source as that one, must find it 🤔 Interestingly in Late november 2024 theres a silver dome from one of these Daleks on Ebay for nearly £3K.
Thank you! Yes I've seen the dome, it's an effects prop used when Matt Smith lifts off the Dalek's head in series 6, repainted and originally from the red Drone. I don't think it'd be of much use due to how damaged it is, so we'll be casting a fresh one!
Hello! I don't know if this is useful to you or not, but currently on Ebay, there is an Original Paradigm Dalek Dome Prop being sold. It is the damaged version from the wedding of river song But It could possibly be used as a base to take measurements or make a mould to make a smooth non damaged version for yours! Thanks for letting me know! I actually know the guy who's got that dome and it was offered to me. Since we've already got Connor's complete red Drone for referance, thankfully we can take moulds from that. I did think about it, but it would've been more work and cost to restore the damaged dome.
@@SomeBoiOnline Is that the Red Dalek Used for things like Doctor Who Live? I remember seeing something about the live props not quite using the same moulding and tooling as the On screen props, but That could be from the materials they were made from aren't as strong, I'm not sure.
As far as I know they were made to be more lightweight but used the original moulds. Some of the tooling on the gun and eye are different, so we're going off The TV props for those.
Impressive thus far! You could probably make collectables out of the unused/broken hemispheres and Ebay them. Bit of extra funding for the continued restoration?
We did talk about this briefly when we'd finished this stage and Jordan came to pick up the prop, but myself and Amelia would recommend all the remaining original parts be kept together. The displays of prop segments are actually becoming a bit of a problem from a conservation standpoint, as I'm aware of a few people that deliberately cut things up or unnecessarily separate parts for maximum profit.
Thank you! It's a nice idea, but as Marley says, there's a bit of a problem with people purposefully vandalising props for profit. So I wouldn't want to encourage that, but some funds will be necessary nonetheless! 😅
out of curiosity, what is the amended profile of the back section after it was taken in? there are good few paradigm figures out there but it'd be interesting to have a go at the amended, less chunky back hatch.
The side profile can be seen as Marley drives it around 26:00. The hump now meets the bottom of the skirt, as opposed to the base, as it's much more recessed. Plus the midsection doesn't come down at the back to join onto the hatch. A shame they never made these amendments on the actual figures.
i mean there's a genuine supreme dome to purchase from ebay it's the one from 'wedding of river song" the top only no eye or bulbs just the chassis of it's head
Hold on a moment, is that the same Dalek that was behind one of my favorite memes... The Stumpy?! (Basically the image where the dalek head sits on top of the body since the neck rings were removed.)
We had a serious look into this and we think Stumpy is one of the two other metallic red daleks that have since went missing. We can, however, try and recreate the meme when we have the head! 😅
it is a shame that its actual missing pieces are know to exist but are either buried in storage or in some gits private collection (collection or not, a dalek should be whole)
I know of one that is in fairly good shape but could use some tlc. If was from the mid to late 70s when Tom Baker was Dr Who. Tom Baker was my favorite Dr. Who
The thing is, this chip, along with other damage to the prop, occurred after its use in Asylum of the Daleks. Since we're aiming for that original look, it would've been odd to leave it.
That's something I really hate about the BBC they just treat their property like crap. "ooh we can't afford to store stuff property" Lets wipe the master tapes, Lets allow the props to deteriorate !
Yeah i get where you're coming from. I can understand production companies not caring too much for props after their use, but you'd have to properly throw them around to have them end up like this.
Cheapskate BBC, the Dalek is still foot powered? I'd have thought they'd at least shelled out for them to run on an electric wheelchair or something. I thought that was why they made them bigger ..... on the inside.
Those Dalek s were crappy looking... made me think they were designed by the same crank who designed the Pontiac Aztec , or as was nick-named Asscrack.
Restoration of the Daleks sounds like an actual episode ...
I was gonna say!
That's exactly what I thought, they do say it in Victory too when the Paradigm emerge!

i mean there's a genuine supreme dome to purchase from ebay
it's the one from 'wedding of river song" the top only
no eye or bulbs just the chassis of it's head
Yes so I've seen! We've already got a complete dome to mould from though, which will be spot on for what we need.
As Marley mentioned to me, it is also possible, as unfortunate as this is, that they were simply thrown away. We may never know!
I know of one that is in fairly good shape but could use some tlc. If was from the mid to late 70s when Tom Baker was Dr Who. Tom Baker was my favorite Dr. Who
We need you to do a video on the closing of muppet vision 3d in Disney world Jim’s last work being destroyed by Disney is wrong
Yes I might have to cover it!
Does anyone else feel old? Like, really old?
I mean the fact that the "New" Dalek Paradigm are nearly 15 years old doesn't help!
I understand why you would get rid of the chip. I find it a little disappointing
Please don't restore it. Look what happened with Winston Churchill's army... (LOL)
It'll be too late when it spins round and declares "no, we created YOU!"
Cheapskate BBC, the Dalek is still foot powered? I'd have thought they'd at least shelled out for them to run on an electric wheelchair or something. I thought that was why they made them bigger ..... on the inside.
Yep! Quite impressive that they look so electronic in the show, despite being so clearly handcrafted up close.
Those Dalek s were crappy looking... made me think they were designed by the same crank who designed the Pontiac Aztec , or as was nick-named Asscrack.
I vote that we call this Dalek Chip
Love it! 😅
@ i mean its the only logical option as it was one of his defining characteristics that helped identify him before. ☺️
