- Walkthrough of "Tiny" the Ultimate Land Rover Defender 110. This is probably the most capable road legal 4wd in Australia. On 37" Tyres and with Maxidrive portal axles it has nearly 50 cm ground clearance under the diffs.
The Maxi drive rear axle is converted to rear steer and a separate joystick in the vehicle allows for the rear wheels to be steered independtly to the front.
To have this as a legal road modification, it required three different security mechanisms to ensure it can only be used off the road.
The Defender's engine has been converted to an International 2.8L Diesel truck engine which is a very simple but highly reliable diesel engine. The vehicle originally started as rare Land Rover defender 110-panel wagen but was converted to a Single Cab Ute with a V-shaped rear end to further improve the departure angle.
The Land Rover was build from the ground up with simplicity and extreme offroad capability in mind and there is very little you can't conquer with this vehicle.
Some of the mods:
Engine: HS 2.8 International with VVT Turbo
MaxiDrive Portals,
Gear Box: Auto 4 Speed, 4HP22 with 4HP24 Internals
Transfer Case LT230 49% reduction gears / HighRange Ratio 1.4.1
Front: Front Maxi Drive Portals with Maxi Drive Lockers and Axles
Walker Evands Beadlocked Rims on 37" BFG KM2 Tyres Авто/Мото
Been waiting for this ever since you first showed it in a video i was blown away by how cool it is. Really anything with portal is cool.
Someone definitely spent alot of money back in the day on it.
The best defender I've ever seen
Thank you very much....
Agreed.
Incredible work op. Keep germany proud!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the video. Well done on such a well thought out build. I'm sure there are hundreds of hours just in research here. Love the rear steer and portals. Those are a real game changer.
That's one cool looking rig my friend!
Thanks for the walkthrough as I have always been curious about the build. It’s great to see someone who has a well thought out vehicle with a lot of mods but still keeping it basically “simple”. The other thing that really impresses me, (a lot of people will think I’m a nutter for saying this) is the fact that it is road legal. An excellent vehicle.
thanks mate, that's what attracted me to it, it drives very well on and off-road and I like to have insurance if driving on public roads
Unbelievable vehicle! Very impressive.
That thing is nuts.... Awesome truck.
This is by far the best machine I've ever seen!
thank you
This thing is nuts!!! Very nice!
Best LR I have ever seen Stefan. Loved also to see the the dash for the first time. Looks super cool. Congrats and take it easy as always.
thanks a lot mate :-)
Sweet been wanting see this awesome rig up close! 👍beautiful it is !!! It is a work of art my friend!!
Waoooo I'm a land rover enthusiast and never saw nothing like that .amazing job!!!
Incredible craftsmanship. Well done, Sir!
Thank you! Cheers!
I’m very proud of my land rover and the work I’ve done to him, but this ..wow is impressive,, thx for explaining the details ,, I wish i was ur neighbour just so i can visit you every day to see how you work on cars....
thanks a lot for sharing of the video ....
My pleasure glad you enjoyed it
Wow............I'm speechless Stefan
Thanks mate
Impresionante!!!
Amazing effort! A lot of time and thought has gone into building this go anywhere vehicle. Well done!
Thank you very much!
Just awesome
Thank you
Damn this truck is so awesome
Thank you
what a weapon
Dang that thing is awsome
thanks mate
Loved the walk through mate very well thought out .The only thing missing is the medical kit for sebastian.ONE TUFF TRUCK
lol that first aid kit is behind the drivers seat :-)
اني جدا معجب في فديوهاتك الرائعة i' love your viduo have a good time
Maintenance on this thing must cost more than a mortgage... But worth it
I can see a huge amount of time and effort has gone into the build of this superb vehicle, well done, a Mercedes Benz Unimog 406 with a cascade gearbox would have saved you a lot of money though.
Glad you like it! a Unimog build to what I need would not have saved me money though a set of tyres alone is 10K
That is the coolest street legal LR I've ever seen. Attention to detail is fantastic. I understand the limitations with lack of space, but what about extending the roll bar all the way to the back end and then you could mount a roof top like box on that cage for more room. Seems like the space constraint could be managed and you don't seem to lack any engineering skills to do it.
Yea thought about it but I need cabin space for a camera men and camera equipment box won’t help for that
This is the coolest rig i have ever seen. I wish this was still going around in your videos today 😔😔 where has tiny gone now?
thank you it's sold to a guy in Victoria now, who has bigger plans for it..
@@AlloffroadAu big plans for it? What more could you do to it. It has all the bells and whistles you had built it into something very special.
it was build a decade ago so suspension and triangulation wise there are quite a few improvements which could be made to stop the bunny hopping in the rear, also portals needed an upgrade for 37" as the stub axles break to easily.
@@AlloffroadAu how much for you reckon
Definitely worth selling the Pinzguar
Thanks for watching guy's, please keep in mind "Tiny" is for sale at present so if you wanted to own such a unique vehicle please have a look on Gumtree and carsales...

Such a great vehicle you've built I must say, definitely a weekend toy!
I did not do the original build so can't take credit for that, but have improved it a little in my 2 years ownership :-)
Ah I see, that's fair. Still a lovely vehicle and you should certainly be proud to own such a well built Defender. No expenses spared it would seem.
Epic looking rig mate. I have been looking at building a defender 130 myself and sticking portals underneath (among many other things). I have a few questions about the setup if you don't mind me asking.
Is it a national certification on the portals?
Who done the engineering on the vehicle?
how do you find the differentials in terms of strength (I hear nothing but bad problems with landrover diffs and most people I speak to change to Nissan diffs)?
Once again awesome machine.
My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me Giorgio
yes!
Thanks, wondering how is your Cruiser build going? Thanks again.
Nearly there just some different suspension set up going in and then ready for walk Trough
Can't believe your selling Tiny. Must be hard to let go
Yes best car I have ever owned or driven and I don’t think I can get something as capable and road legal again
Worth every penny! How can someone in the US get one like yours but in green?
the original build was 250k AU$ and maxiDrive portals are no longer made (parts are still available though) you can buy Tiny and re-spray it :-)
Im curious how you got away from RMS with the portals and 'comp like' front bar with no wings in NSW?
Keep in mind vehicle was original engineered around 10 years ago, different rules then, portals can be engineered no issue
Land Rover Defender iv seen
it is a great car. especially the portal axles. moter is absolutely the best that land rover has built without electronics. how far are you with the 105 land cruiser? is it ready as you want it to be?
Landcruiser is pretty much ready for touring but still like a more extrem suspension setup so that’s still missing but will be done after Tassy
very nice! Greetings from Abu Dhabi. Are you from Germany?
yes, mate originally from Germany in Australia for 20 years though.
Hi, lovely defender, what wheel arches did you use? Many thanks
they are jeep flares
Thank you
Quick question, how did you get the 37" tires legal? was there some engineering you had to go through?
There was a lot of engineering the vehicle went trough.....
With regards to the lack of space, maybe you should change it back to a full top cab from a chopped down pick-up cab.
That would mean rebuilding half the truck, due to the rear radiator you need air in the rear
That would mean rebuilding half the truck, due to the rear radiator you need air in the rear
Best fucking vehicle ever!
Thank you very much....
What brand is the automatic shifter? After something similar
was a custom made one as far as I know
hi on landy how are the front and rear locker treating you
never had an issue mate
Any ideas on weight?
2.6t loaded
This thing is so cool ...250K fok me that's an expensive toy ...jesus
Jesus Christ well done
Thank you
would a Caterpillar c6 or c7 fit in a landrover 110?
not sure mate never tried
thanks for the feedback. I'll look into it over the next few months.
Is Tiny still alive?Greetings from Germany...
yes, but now resides in Victoria. Greetings back :-). This is my Tiny replacement ruclips.net/video/p1CcGzPJAKs/видео.html
how can ı talk maxidrive can you give their website
maxi drive is no more MR Autos in QLD still manufactures some MaxiDrive Parts
isnt 4wsteer illegal.plus, its got no wheel travel.
Lol has plenty of wheel travel for a road legal vehicle, rear steer is locked and a bracket needs to be removed for offroad use
oh i see now that you sell Tiny? May I ask why you sell it? Are you going to buy something else?
Have driven pretty much everything within 4 hours of Sydney now want to drive Technical interstates and Tiny is to small to carry all my filming and camping gear. Yes I will build something else not 100% sure what though
that just looks like cheating. i want one too.
🙃
Why don't they make Land Rover Dinky toys? Because they would leak oil all over the carpets! 🤣🤣
lol, got your facts wrong though, there are plenty of LR Dinky's just comes with a disclosure only to be used on tiles :-)
10 spline is 60.s tech, axles are at least 19 spline, they stand 500nm,260hp.whats that diesel put out.?.cant beat u.s gear.i see you bought 2 vehicles that are not realy suited to hard 4x4ing.landi/toyota.there both only good for what there built for.you cant modifie them without major upgrades to all driveline.ive given my bronco shit on road & off, never failed, loves it.a couple of d44's would fix most your problems.strong as a 9".& theres portals to suit.or tracks.or,,,,buy a GU nissan & smile.
Yea all a bit different here you, unfortunately, can't do what you guys can do in the states
