So nice to hear a calm, well explained video with no horrible back ground music or stupid unnecessary graphics
honestly the BEST RUclips tutorial videos on how to use illustrator! thanks so much!!
Thanks so much :)
Thank you Dansky! You Saved my night. Very clear tutorial, love how you present.
I've never seen it so easy! Thank you so uch, Neon is one of my favorites and i used to spend WAY too much time trying to do it.
Oh man, thanks! I'm brazilian but your way to teach seems universal. Also, the baby is so adorable, omg!
Hi Dansky, I started with Adobe AI 2 years ago and you were my first great teacher in RUclips. Thank you again thank you so much
Ahmad Q That’s great to hear Ahmad! You’re very welcome 😊
This was so calming to watch and easy to follow. THANK YOU
Thank you dansky ! I’m watching your videos since I started with graphic and design stuff and they are incredibly helpful ! Keep on ! Kind regards
Alex
Just figured out something to give it a little bit more flare after following these steps. If you add a black outline to that initial blur effect it gives a really nice break effect from the glow of the neon light to the glow on the backdrop.
Hey guys!!!!! It's worth mentioning (as I spent about 20 minutes messing with it trying to figure out what was wrong...) : If you do NOT want a strange white outline surrounding your gaussian blur, when you are first creating the document, make sure it is in RGB mode and not CMYK. good luck!
as soon as he pulled his son up I knew this was gonna be a good video!!! Couldn't stop smiling :)
Ty, that was my issue
no probs
Maaaaan, love you
Thanks a lot! I had a hard time as well. Good that decided to read comments. ha

This is awesome! It has totally saved my bacon (and is definitely the simplest yet most effective tutorial I've seen on neon effects!)
This is sick, that looks sooo cool! Also very good job on explaining everthing properly and keeping it simple.
Waww very nice tutorials, simple and greats!
Cheers Meli you're welcome :D
You've got new subscriber (Y)

+Ali Mukhtar Hey thanks Ali - glad you like them :)
hey Dan! great to see you back and lovely to see Leo :) hope you have a great new year and look forward to many more of your videos in 2016!
Your videos are so wonderfully helpful. Thank you so much for doing what you do!
This is great! I never knew about the universal swatch trick either. Thank you!!
You're welcome Amber :)
I found a solution to the offset issue some of us are having (at least as of writing this). After tinkering with it for awhile, I discovered that the lowest you can set the offset is to -1 px. After that you might as well be cutting and pasting the text. If you want to get the offset to shrink more you need to use a an integer between 0 and -1 px. I used -0.7 px and it got to to about the same size as shown in Dansky's video if not a bit smaller.
Hope this helps.
Also, it does work with other fonts, but it works better with those that are thinker. Example: I just did it with the chiller font and it worked but the offset has to be around -0.1 (maybe down to -0.3 px) if you want to offset the the entire text.
Thank you so much!! I was struggling really hard thinking I kept doing something wrong!
You are amazing! Thanks so much!!!
thanks i had the same problem
thanks!!! i had the same problem.
Thank you so much for sharing this! Amazing and so simple :)
simple and easy to understand tutorial, much appreciated man.!
You are the best tutorial lecturer on youtube..,,,,,,
+B&E Ministries Thank you so much, that really means a lot :)
you missed a few steps. in the beginning you should have told us when creating a new illustrator document you have to choose Pixels, Web only, and RGB. I kept wondering why my colors weren't coming out vibrant. I was getting frustrated. so yeah other than that great tutorial!
Yes you're absolutely right - glad you got it sorted :)
Thank you!! I wanted to create a poster for print and had the same problem
oh, thx i miss that ponits ;; lol
Thank you for this :)
thank you H A L E E M A T R A V E L S. helpful things that you tell us

Yeah! Just started learning illustrator and this was so helpful!!!
Hey, awesome tutorial videos man! i was wondering if you could make a tutorial video on how to remain high quality in your images after resizing in Photoshop, i had this problem when making a banner using my own images when i resized them down and when zooming i could see huge pixels, ive seen no videos on how to avoid that, would be amazing!
Great tutorial, and Leo is so cute!
Hey thanks Dan - you're welcome :)
Thank you so much for the tutorial...it actually led me to a better shortcut to make thin versions of my fonts...Once again thank you and cheers!

Best ever! So many hours i tried to do it on my own... but it is so simple here! THANKS!
Awesome thanks Anton! :)
This tuto is just what i needed, and your kid tops it :) Great work
Hi Dansky! Thanks for a great tutorial, I loved it. I'm just wondering, what's the difference between Create Outline and Expand in Illustrator? I've seen that designers use both for making text an editable object, but is there another difference? Thanks in advance!/ Ana
like for the baybe! :) And video!
Thank you so much man! You're a great teacher and today I learned a new cool technique so thanks.
Great video! Short and sweet with very few steps! Thanks!
Heads up! If you're putting a negative number in for the offset and nothing seems to happen, make that negitive MUCH smaller. When I put in -5 it seemed as if nothing happened. The problem was that -5 was WAY to small. Solution: put something like -0.5 instead of -5.
Thank you
Thank you for this! I had to set one to -0.1 to get my offset outline.
i put -0.00000000000000000000000000000000000001 but nothing happened
Help
now its working
hi my paths didnt show offset path :(
You deserve more subscribers! Thank you for these wonderful tutorials!
thank you! So helpful. working on a school project and wanna do some neon-circuity stuff so this was great. cheers! :)
I instantly went like awwwwh after seeing your son xd
Cutee babyy!!!!!
Thanks Adrian - he's a little monkey!
Amazing video Dansky, very helpful !! Much love from COLOMBIA.
Hey Dansky good vid, I'm pretty new to illustrator, quick question - every time I try to offset the path -5px it does nothing, it will create +5px but not - ... Any idea what might be going on or I being a noob?
you maybe have a different version.
your welcome
Whenever I apply the Gaussian Blur, It turned my bright pink into a really light and muted pink.
Go to: File > Document Color Mode > RGB
to fix the issue
Thanks for the video!
Spot on Rachel :) The CMYK spectrum for print just can't match some of the more 'punchier' colours that are used to create neon effects.
Thanks so much. You are both splendid tutors. Bless you.x
Aww thanks Tina :)
THANKS! this tutorial have helped me creating a nice effect on my logo. I loved the fact that it is easy and it looks creative and professional
Awesome Noora! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial and it was useful :)
When I offset path to a negative number, It does not work. No thinner version of the text appears. However, using a positive number works, it just means my Neon Text is fatter than I'd like.
I am having the same problem!
same here! i tried the negative offset with a simple square and it worked fine. does anyone know what the solution is?
I think it is a problem with font.
It cannot be done with any font, as the video suggests.
Did he say that? I thought I heard him ay that we could use whatever font we wanted. Anyway, I've figured it out. My document settings were way too small and my color was set to CMYK instead of RGB.
font is irrelevant, you are offsetting a path so if the text has been made into outlines as he advises earlier in the tutorial then all you are doing is offsetting a shape
my negative offset isnt working. no matter the size i set it, there isnt a difference. but if i do a positive offset, it appears. any idea of whats going on?
never mind, just had to restart illustrator
@@puhl117 Thanks, your comment saved my life.
@@yohangelmorales615 lol

Hi Dansky, great tutorial! I really love the quality of your videos btw! It's too hard not to notice it. Would you please share what equipment you are using to record your screen and your surroundings? Would really appreciate it!
Your kid is so cute ! Tapping on my screen to play with him...
I saw your son and i liked the video immediately. :D
Aww thanks :)
Straight to the point, great tutorial!!!
I like how much information you pack into your videos. It always irks me when during tutorials, the person doesn't explain the why's. Looks like I'm subbin! :)
at first try, i can make it
but the second time i'd tried it,
whenever i did the offset, there's no second line (just a line in the middle),
then i tried to just ungroup it,
it turned out the offset lines disappears and it just ungroups the original words
please help a noob like me T-T
Hey there! Try reducing your offset to "0.2" or "-0.2" because if the numbers are too big, particular on the minus side of things, the offset will disappear inside the letters :)
came for tutorial , stayed for leo..😊
You explained it so well!! Thank you very much :DD
