At this point, his skills are undeniable. Six hp from a regular 50cc saw that you can take and use as a regular work saw? Get outta here! Seven hp from a 60cc? No way! Nine hp from a 73cc!!!?? You've lost your mind! Nope, that's Charlie for ya.

@@novicelumberjack he was super stoked about the 6hp on the 4910. He’s definitely the king of the 50cc class.

@@ericnicol2616 I think he could or would be at the tops of whatever he does… we heard Harvey come out with the concept of a reed valve on a 372xp… then all of a sudden Charlie built the concept and it’s off the freaking crazy train of the power world!!! And old Harvey or iron horse is singing his praises and saying get your butt over to his channel!!! He’s got wicked skills and a fantastic mind!!! Can’t wait to see what comes down to pike… ! Freaking awesome build’s… next level type thinking!!! Dude’s one of those people who is just fantastic at what he’s doing because he’s going to keep trying until he succeeds!!!

If you ever raced anything or whatever… then obviously we are trying to win! There’s a little macho Camacho type swagger in certain members of the tribe… but some guy’s try to lead and some prefer to follow… it all works out and life’s about learning to get in where you fit in… in my experience… competition leads to advancement!!! Motorcycle world is light years ahead… saw’s stopped when Mac /Pioneer stopped except for the electronic dummy proofing type carb technology..,

It’s kinda funny that Echo in their 1990’s weedwacker engine they were rocking a domed piston with scalloping to create or start the swirl pattern to help direct the exhaust out and get the fresh fuel charge up into the combustion chamber…. I’d love to be able to cut my own pistons… in the past 12 year’s of playing around with this whole work saw porting obsession… I’ve come to try and balance the function’s… I really need to use my different colors and make the port map … or transfer the engine’s timing numbers to a port map… I look at the piston much differently then I usta… I wast to reduce my weight and be as smooth as possible as it’s moving through the fuel charge. The Stihl 088 was the real lightning bolt to the brain… I got the moly version and did some smoothing and it was a much lighter piston then the OEM piston… that transferred into a solid bump in throttle response and torque… If only you could see the smoked air flow of your running saw engine!!! LMFFAO!!! They are absolutely awesome…contraptions… like 13,000 little breaths a minute … that freaking pistons going up and down 13,000 times in a minute when she’s ripping along! It blows my mind that these engines last as long as they do! A 10 year old “firewood collector” has a whole hell of a lot of stroke’s on her bore! That’s for certain! Clean up the cylinder and toss another piston kit at it and go 10 more!!! That’s some quality….

MacDizzy…. You also mention in this video your homemade flat lap… for squaring up a cylinder bottom… an 8x10 piece of window glass with a little spritz of water and you stick your sheet of 120/220 right onto it and it’s flat! It’s definitely possible to cut a hole into a piece of 5/4 deck board and line it with sandpaper and work a couple thousand off a cylinder with a recessed bottom sealing ring… if you scratch your line on your four sides you can definitely work some material off by to reduce your squish band… it’s definitely a labor of love but if that’s what you have to do to accomplish your goal then by all means try it once… I’ve done a couple that way… 3/8’s wooden dowel rod with a hole for a little nail or bolt will also spin an old piston on the top of your cylinder and you can cut your squish band down with sandpaper contact cemented onto an old piston the correct diameter… there’s always more then one way to skin the Cat and sometimes coming up with your homemade tools are 1/2 the fun in my mind! Like spinning the tops section on a clamshell’s bearing caps to let it set down a little bit to loose some squish… with a little work on your flat plate then you can knock a couple thousand off pretty slick! It’s definitely a fun hobby! 😁👍

This is what sets people to listen to and those in my opinion to not listen to! Being honest and admitting who you are and what your about is a true means of gaining real respect! I like this guy because of that!
And he's got kind of a low key unexpected humor .

ZAM polishing compound is the jewelry maker’s cheat in the sterling silver and turquoise jewelry making game to be able to skip those last couple of steps in the polishing process… you usually go 200,400,600,800,1200,1500,2000…. The ZAM is a blue/green rouges and that’s your next step after that WD40 trick and it’s just a piece of red rag…lintless rag… I use a little piece of old blue jeans denim leg material… 😁👍

Pretty sure that scotch bright / WD-40 deal is what John's custom saws does. Don't quote me but I think that's where I saw that.

Well, I got the idea from David. Jon can kiss my ass. I don't watch any of his content because he is a drama queen who makes up shit about people. Calls people haters and says they are trying to drag him down, when the only person doing that is him...to everyone else. I was really excited about him. A high energy guy building cool saws...but then it was nothing but a bitchfest. Over and over and over...

Man your doing great work and I bet that 036 is going to be a good runner. Heck I’m the same way with shirts lol. I have a video coming soon talking a bit about Poulan as a saw choice. Not the fastest, not the best, but just a damn good saw. We will only get better as we go and try new things. The more you do the better you get the more tricks you aquire, plus like you said Charlie B is a great mind to get info from if needed. We definitely got more to give the saw world and more to come. 👍

Keep your eyes open for a Bridgeport, or similar moesheen. Then the world will be your oyster. A lot of machine shops are going with CNC mills and it's hard to get rid of them ol Bridgeports. You can get the relatively cheap. That's what I plan on doing.

After the base was cut on a friends 036: 106/124/79 and took it to 101/124/81. Lower transfers could be flowed toward base but only a little bit since there’s not much to work with. About 25%-30% gains (timed in log not dyno) with muffler mod.

For the full time port guys I think it’s more of finding a balance of time and profit. Like any business if you under charge you won’t survive and if you over charge you won’t survive. Small things like mirror polishing an exhaust port verses getting a completely smooth 240 grit finish will do just about the same thing. No matter what you do carbon will find a way to attach to it. If you’re charging 350-400 for a port job then spending 40 hours mirror polishing and getting every aspect flawless just isn’t feasible. You’re trying to get them the best bang for their buck while still making money and efficiently moving saws to the mail box. Yes there are exceptions to the rule there are guys charging over 1k and making you sign papers saying you won’t expose their tricks to the public. You should get extremely fine detail or “level 4” work for that money but if you can get a 30% gain for 350-400$ then I’d say he’ll yeah I’m happy. I’ve built some fast saws and I’ve had guys build me ridiculous saws. There’s a million ways to skin a cat just gotta find why works best for you and if you’re doing it for others just try to give them the best you can with the allotted time and budget. Great video and thanks for sharing 🤙
