    Tyler,Been teaching myself Fusion and stumbled across your site. You are a great teacher. And I just saw your moving to Denver!Been here all my life. Retired from an engineering firm as a machinist last year and bought a 3 axis router and planning to use Fusion as my software. Been here all my life. Love Colorado. Since we're neighbors now you can expect me to be be pulling on your coat asking for answers!! Hope to see you in town sometime. Flavio

    A perfectly paced explanation that not only clearly showed dimensioning, but concisely explained parametric drawing and some handy sketch tools. For this beginner, this was a great demonstration video.

    The best clear and concise Fusion Guide I have seen. Makes everything much more clear to get me off the ground. Thanks so much the perfectly paced demo.

    This is great! Last night I spent a number of hours trying to dimension a complex shape (for me anyway) to revolve. I could never get rid of the blue lines in order to fully define my sketch. With the help of this video my sketch is now defined and revolved. It only took me 20 min. Keep the 360 videos coming. Thank you, Thank you.

    Tyler this tutorial is by far the best on YT for Fusion. Learned many tricks, had never even looked at the RMB options for dimensions before.

    As a started out with a tee square and a draughting pen, I am really appreciating your clear and simple guides. I am self teaching this, so having a tutor on tap is awesome. I love making things so I bought a 3d printer. As you will know learning cad and 3d printing from scratch is a steep learning curve to climb, thanks for the tow, cheers. John

    Hi Tyler
    Great you do this guide, but a have one note. In 13:15 there is very easy sketch, so you can use this solution (two angle dimensions), but if somebody use this way, he will have big problems with more complicated sketches.
    Beginers must keep up relationships, like horizontal, vertical, they must have clear sketch and you have to show them this way. I know what I say, I am CAD teacher too. (sorry for my english)

I guess practice will bring this in. but the square and washer is way above my ability, I will follow along, Thanks , if you have a suggestion please share it,, All the best

    To set the arc angular dimension, you can skip the construction lines and simply click the three point with the dimension tool and place your angular dimension. ;)

      Hey Blaise,
      You are absolutely RIGHT! I avoided that tip just because it is order dependent and can be a little confusing for new users. But, thank you for bringing it up and for watching the video!

    While in Sketch I need to be able dimension arc length. Specifically the arc between two points I place on the circle. So far I can't find the command. I NEED this a lot, because I don't want to waste time making solids, when a simple geometry is all I need.
    Any help ?
    Years ago used to run SW and this was really basic, possible in y 2000.

    Hi Tyler,
    Since you asked, I 'liked', and likewise my comment. I have great interest and a huge cnc table, but massive frustration with fusion protocols and things simply not happening. You da man, as they say, so I might ask once or twice in perplexity. Fusion is said to be dead easy, so the finger points, as so often, inward, and confidence lurks in there somewhere. I consult with a fusion engineer for mission critical cad cam solutions, but raw basics are on RUclips to learn. Most professors advise coffee, and I am duly charged up, ready to go. Ah, student life...

    Great videos! Here an easy one I have not figured out yet. I have a rectangular 1/8 in plate bent into a simple even U shape.3in long, 1.75 Radius. I want to put a small 3/8 fillet on the 4 corners (not edges) to take off the sharp edges. Any thoughts? Thanks Tyler!

  • @JohnCHansen01

    How would we construct a rectangle that may be rotated and still remain a rectangle? My recollection of plane and solid geometry was that the orientation of a four sided shape need not be vertical and/or horizontal. Has geometry education shifted over the years to a strictly XY cartesian-only vertical/horizontal subset of geometry?
    Ok, I am sure I and all your viewers know this answer. But at the heart of this is a question about what the thought process was when the Fusion 360 programmers wrote their original code.
    I can definitely construct a rotatable rectangle (or square). But why are the default rectangles not rotatable?

    Thanks Tyler. Lots of great info here. One thing I find is that once I dimension a model and extrude I quite often lose the 'dimension' option. As in it is grayed out and not available. What is happening in this case?
    Thanks,
    Paul the Noob...

    • @TylerBeckofTECHESPRESSO
      @TylerBeckofTECHESPRESSO  6 лет назад

      Hey Paul,
      If you right click on the sketch and edit it. You should be able to double click any of the dimensions that are driving dimensions.

    • @ppridday

      The dimension option is available when editing a sketch. You must be in that mode to see it.

    I've been trying to work through a course of material using Constraints and I have run into an issue. Whenever I type d on the keyboard nothing happens and when I added the Dimension Icon to my toolbar it was also Greyed Out. How do I go about rectifying this situation?

  • @tcurdt
    @tcurdt 6 лет назад

    Nice explanation but - what about the extrusion height? I have the front all constrained in 2d. I have also have a sketch for the side - but still the extrusion height is not coming from the sketch of the side sketch. I always have to adjust the extrusion height manually. Any advice there? What am I missing?

    • @michaels3003
      @michaels3003 6 лет назад

      You create sketches to create profiles. You select one or more profiles (activate the extrusion feature first) to create 3D objects. Extrusion distance(s) are not part of the sketch. You can use the same profile for more than one extrusion with different distance values (what you called a "height").

    • @tcurdt
      @tcurdt 6 лет назад

      I meanwhile figured it out. You can create variables and reference them pretty much everywhere. Even during extrusion.

    • @michaels3003
      @michaels3003 6 лет назад

      Not just variables. You can create custom expressions like "Some_diameter / 2" or "Some_radius * 2".

    Can I use the dimesions tool after finishing my 3D model? I can not access this in my model as it is inactive.

    Is Fusion cad cam cae program just like catia or nd?

    • @TylerBeckofTECHESPRESSO
      @TylerBeckofTECHESPRESSO  6 лет назад

      It is a CAD, CAM, FEA, Rendering, Sheetmetal, Drawings & it handles parametric design, direct modeling and subdivisional modeling. So, it is meant to handle challenges that Catia,SolidWorks,NX might cover. I would be happy to have a conversation to cover specifically what you need and how well Fusion fits your needs.
