    Well there you go riders... a bloody long day in the saddle... I hope it helps maybe your decision on buying a Bosch SX motor !

      I would love to discuss the word _"extreme"_ with you sometime. I use a BBSHD 1000W 1.34 hp mid-drive with 160Nm of torque powered by a 58.8V 35Ah (2058Wh) lithium pack and turning a Rohloff Speedhub. Range on any ebike depends on the battery capacity, terrain, temperature, rider technique, tire pressure, rider input, and even altitude. Under the exact same circumstances an athlete not carrying the extra weight could ride much further than you did. I can put in a ten-hour day on a loaded touring ebike and ride 100+ miles easily with lunch, photo stops, and the occasional hit off the pipe while using only 85% battery capacity (1740Wh). Or I can slog uphill and through mud, sand, and gravel and get 65 miles on that same 85%, or race around hard flat surfaces at 35 mph for a couple of hours. The bike you're riding isn't meant for long-range rides... it's not meant for hard smooth surfaces either. Stop thinking about how *far* you can go and start seeing how *long* you can stay on the bike. BaFangs have some massive advantages over other mid-drives the best being that you don't have to buy a proprietary one-trick frame, or an overpriced battery, or their underpowered motor. It easy to have a way better ebike. Ride safe. - photos.app.goo.gl/ADgC6oyPM2gyrCq27

    I think 400 W batteries are the goldilocks size. My Giant Trance Advanced E+ Elite 2 gets me 40 miles with 1800 ft vertical using 35 & 50NM settings and 75%-125% support level. At 66 I'm knackered at the end of the day. I actually have a lot of fun on uphills and still get that heart rate up.

    • @SamsBikes

      On my specialized levo I just did 42 miles and 5400 feet of elevation gain and I'm 60 years old. I love these bikes! It's like a new lease on your youth. I delimited mine so I can pedal it up to 33 miles an hour on the street. I actually like doing street rides once in a while and preying on guys on their street bikes. I get behind them and put it in trail mode and go by them kind of slowly but I do pass them. Then they pick up their pace because they do not wanna get passed up by a 60 year old dude on his electric mountain bike. Then I put it in turbo and haul ass! There is just no way that they can sustain 30+ miles an hour for any length of time and I just blow them out the door. That's kind of dick-ish but it sure is fun

    That bike had a light connected to the bike's battery. Usually Bosch systems, once you turn on the light from the diagnosis, the system will automatically keep reserve for the light, cutting the assistance earlier. On Bosch 4 with an 18W light the system cuts assistance at 10% battery.

    • @SamsBikes
      @SamsBikes  Год назад

      Yes the bike had a light but I don’t think it would of done anything to the range seeing it wasn’t being used but maybe I’m wrong

    • @texfromro
      @texfromro Год назад

      @@SamsBikes it doesn't matter. Even if you don't mount the light at all but tell the system it has a light it will automatically put on reserve 2 hours for that light to run... I found this the hard way 😁

    Well, I can climb 8000' on my Canyon Spectral ON CF8. A 65 mile ride with some good climbs is no problem, with battery left. I never use ECO. I go out and play for 3.5 hours blasting up and down in the park all on boost mode, and still have 2 bars left at least. 900WH battery.
    I like it a lot.

    Awesome to hear this Sam! Does the SX have the tour+ and auto mode the cx does? I would think you could about double those numbers for a full day in eco, which is very impressive for a 400wh. Lets hope for some range extenders for the big days soon! And get these SX into other brands ASAP!

    How does the 55 Nm motor with a 400 WH compare to the 85Nm motor and 720 WH battery in terms of effort from the rider when climbing and longevity of battery power?

    • @SamsBikes
      @SamsBikes  Год назад

      Hey Dennis maybe watch my mini review of the Bosch SX, it’s still a mid powered ebike so you need to put in more effort, it’s probably best you try one before buying one. It’s also there important what your group of riders ride SLs with full powered e-bikes still don’t mix that well

    Dayum so this thing got 250m elevation per 100 Wh battery, compared to the 160-194m elevation per 100 Wh battery in the EP8/CX4/Brose/Syncdrive test.
    That's impressive, although if this thing did about 80% of the power output compared to the full power motors it would make sense.

    I would like to see a review, for example, of a Specialized Turbo Levo with an 85Kg and 1,80 tall rider vs a Sepcialized Levo SL with a 65Kg and 1,70 tall rider. In this case the 65Kg rider is in better shape, the idea is to compare a raider with about 20Kg less and in better shape.
    The Specialized Turbo Levo, as a rule, would run at 40% of the motor’s power, being able to increase that percentage if necessary, and the Specialized Levo SL would be in the necessary percentage to keep up with the pace of the Specialized Turbo Levo.
    It can be with another brand, for example an Orbea full power and a 60Nm Orbea (Transition, Canyon, Giant…)
    As I have friends with full power bikes that weigh 85Kg, I would like to know to what extent I could keep up with them, at their pace, on a 50, 60Nm bike and for how many Km.
    In short, I would like to see how far a 50Nm, 60Nm bike can keep up with a full bike at +- 40% instead of the 100% of the motor’s power as in most reviews
    I know this is a custom request, but I believe that there are lots of riders with these doubts.
    Thanks in advance ;-)
