  • Bosch's new Performance Line SX Motor is said to bridge the gap between MTB and full-power eMTB by delivering high power while weighing only 2kg. Because the SX motor only weighs 2kg, it has a higher power-to-weight ratio of 300w/kg compared to the CX which is 207w/kg. Does this motor do what it says on the tin? Steve Jones shares his thoughts on this brand-new piece of kit!

      Good video, but I'm still paranoid about water ingress for any emtb motor. No consensus on user experiences. Should we believe this is more waterproof than CX?

      It strongly depends on gear ratio available, gross weight of the system and incline. There will be definitely hills this motor will not be able to climb, if undergeared.

      they dont specify because the nm of that motor is a joke compared to its power, my yamaha does 400w peak too but has 80nm peak torque. and the torque is what matters at the end of the day.

    This is what Bosch do, hence why their the leaders in electrical engineering, however what I'd love to see is the SX unit use the wireless remote like on the cx unit,and maybe alittle more compact like the others on the market
    But I absolutely love my full fat Bosch unit, the power delivery is just awesome, but being in Australia wish they would increase the limit to 32kph so you can sit on 28kph comfortably.

    These mid power EMTBs are really starting to gather momentum and are the gateway for people who are coming from analog bikes, one thing is for sure though that within the next 5 years or so analog bikes will be reserved for pro competitions and e-bikes will be the kings when it come to social riders

    If it is not marketing hype and if physics didn't change since last time I checked, the only way to get 600W with 50Nm of torque is to have the cadence above 115 RPM...

  • @IvoJaric

    Does it cuts power when you pedal over 120rpm like CX?

  • @johndarch5439
    @johndarch5439 Год назад +2

    So, off road use only in Ireland shortly - The Act will also put e-bikes on a legal footing. E-bikes with a maximum power output of 250W and a motor cut-off speed of 25km/hr will be treated as bicycles under Irish law. E-bikes that can go faster than 25km/hr or have a power output greater than 250W, and those that can operate without pedalling will now be classified as an e-moped. Under the new categorisation, e-mopeds will be seen as motorised vehicles which will require a licence, registration, tax and insurance to be used on Irish roads.

    • @TheAegisClaw
      @TheAegisClaw Год назад +2

      I'm not familiar with the Irish law, but these bikes are all considered 250w continuous under EU law. Therefore should be legal in any EU country, unless Ireland is not adopting that standard?

    • @davidloucks9149

      And never gets above 600 watts as the RPMs go up? Power in engineering terms is torque multiplied by RPM. So if the max torque is 85 Nm does it reduce as the RPM goes up to keep the output at 600 watss, or does the torque stay close to the same as the RPM goes up like the SX?

    This does seem to have almost the same specs as an Orbea Rise with an RS-tuned Shimano EP8, released in 2021 doesn't it? The Shimano motor is slightly heavier, the bike slightly lighter, but the specs are incredibly similar, I would have thought a nod to them would have been apt?
