    The 555s and 777s are made by the same company Stadler, so stop saying they stole everything because you cant steal from yourself, and companies cant steal from their own company either

      I got to admit love the new 555's the only criticism I would make is that they should have had a mixture of linear and airline seats as what is on the class 345 Elizabeth line trains but definitely a smart looking train

      Hope they are less rattly. I worked on the brake systems for the old units down in Wiltshire. They were introduced when I was still at school 1980 and I’ve been retired now for nearly 3 years. Amazingly travelled on them for the first time last month. Question is will these new units still be running in 43 years time? As Blur once said modern life is rubbish. Also worked on the new Hitachi units replaced old HSTs but actually go a lot slower in diesel mode, yes their acceleration is very impressive on spark but not used between Newbury & Penzance. Anyway there you go see ya I’m off to Switzerland next month for a 1912 spark on the Rhb

      It was always a scramble to get the front seat on an empty train, or the rear seat. I used to love it as a kid, seeing the tunnels looming ahead, and then suddenly being plunged into darkness. It was literally like riding a rollercoaster, until the novelty wore off after a few years.
      We'd only ever had buses before the metro arrived, and BR Trains. But a ride on a BR train was a rare occurrence, because of the limited number of stops.

    Nice units tfw would have been better off with a simular design I dont like the side seating though

    • @th8257
      @th8257 9 месяцев назад +3

      Side seating is much more efficient, as anyone who's used transport in London will have experienced. At peak times in particular, the current Metros aren't fit for purpose. The current seating takes up way too much space and has a much lower capacity. People are left standing on platforms because there isn't enough space.

    • @g4viscon
      @g4viscon 6 месяцев назад +2

      @th8257 Nah, having a mix of seating like the Elizabeth line would have been better. I like the airline seating and family 2x 2 seating arrangement on the Merseyrail Metro class 777 units. I think T&W should have gone for that as it looks so much better but also has high capacity for passengers.
      Lateral seating is essential on the deep level tube trains due to constraints of where the wheels are placed on such compact units. There is really no need for it to be used on the 555 units.
