You should've filmed doors closing.... :c
i like how they also have the distinctive M shaped lights like on the 777s
Nice catch - not sure why some of the windows are boarded-over though \m/
I thought the same.... odd
@@craigpix8422it’s for testing. Protecting wiring
Looking good
Nice 🔥
Why does it kinda look like a M5000
It looks smaller than the class 994/599 but still looks cool
Stalder Rail 🇨🇭🇨🇭
Nah! The older class 599 MetroCars were indeed 100x better. Over 40 years old and still running as smooth as an angel
Seriously? They're starting to show their age majorly. Constant breakdowns, overhead wire trips, general reliability. And besides, there's little to no traction motor sound.
Im from nothumberland park that metro looks class do you know when they will fully be for public use?
I swear if I see another merseyrail fanboy saying they are a ripoff of the 777s I will explode
SAME MATE
They're not a rip off of the 777. They're a cheaper and not as good version. Kinda like the aldi version of Colin the caterpillar cake. Haha
@@g4viscon in what way are they not as good?
@benstrainsandthings No WiFi, more basic design language, and less specifications due to the Metro not having to meet national rail standards, no central emergency exit at the ends of the units etc.
this ain’t no plane
All they need now are first class compartments with refreshments and toilets, so us superior types can seperate ourselves from the Mackem Chavs, and window licking trainspotters.
window licking trainspotters? mate what planet do you live on 💀
You're actually braindead if you think you're getting first class on a metro service
2:32 was random
Excellent catch! Such a shame the cars already got graffitied.
Dont you mean brake test
Nice units tfw would have been better off with a simular design I dont like the side seating though
Side seating is much more efficient, as anyone who's used transport in London will have experienced. At peak times in particular, the current Metros aren't fit for purpose. The current seating takes up way too much space and has a much lower capacity. People are left standing on platforms because there isn't enough space.
@th8257 Nah, having a mix of seating like the Elizabeth line would have been better. I like the airline seating and family 2x 2 seating arrangement on the Merseyrail Metro class 777 units. I think T&W should have gone for that as it looks so much better but also has high capacity for passengers. Lateral seating is essential on the deep level tube trains due to constraints of where the wheels are placed on such compact units. There is really no need for it to be used on the 555 units.
odd: overgrounds piggybacking off of that nationwide train engine classification scheme over there... anyhow, our show-offy Expo-Expressive replacement of our touristic sightseeing overground happens to be causing many a commuter to become bitterly disgruntled: ruclips.net/video/nBbgRWNRV6o/видео.htmlsi=rIOGWuqDfdv_UET-
The Class 555 Tyne and Wear Metro I have to say that they do look really nice and impressive. When will they be in service?
sadly its delayed o 2024-25
I was about 10 when the Metro first started, and if you sat at the front, next to the drivers cab, sometimes the cab door used to be open, and some drivers would let you push the throttle lever when the train was moving. My nearest station was Heworth, and you could travel all the way to Whitley Bay for 5p. So as kids, we regularly visited the coast during school breaks. You could also buy a Transfare ticket on the bus for 5p, and that allowed you to go from the bus, to the metro, and travel one way, to any station on the network. They raised the price to 10p when I was about 13 or 14, and we had to carry a pass to show we were under 16 for the cheaper fare, but it was still fantastic value for money at 10p. And you could save even more money if you bought your tickets at the Metro station machines, they used to do what was called "5 Rider" which was 5 SINGLE tickets for 35p, but they had to be used the same day as purchase as they were date stamped. Sometimes, if you jumped over the barrier without validating your ticket in the barrier, which we often did 😁, you could effectively ride back and forth all day, it was quite easy to do back then, and if an inspector inspected your tickets, you could just say you had lost the VALIDATED ticket, and present him with one of your other tickets, which he would validate manually. The 5 Rider saved you another 15p on the normal cost of 5 single tickets, and you could also use those on the bus to complete your journey if you got off the Metro at a bus interchange station. You could even share them with friends, or buy 5 tickets between two people, if you only had 20p in your pocket. So 20p would get you 3 tickets, and 15p would get your friend 2 tickets. Happy days 😊
Why do you wave at every single train? It doesn't look like any of them ever wave back.
Our mates were driving on the test and they normally flash their headlights or wave
@@Omar91130 Do trains have the ability to flash headlights?
@@avaughan585 what I mean is they are able to turn the brightness up similar to a car when you flash the high beam
@@Omar91130 Do trains have that ability?
Its amazing how much quieter they seem to be and less rattly too
Hope they are less rattly. I worked on the brake systems for the old units down in Wiltshire. They were introduced when I was still at school 1980 and I’ve been retired now for nearly 3 years. Amazingly travelled on them for the first time last month. Question is will these new units still be running in 43 years time? As Blur once said modern life is rubbish. Also worked on the new Hitachi units replaced old HSTs but actually go a lot slower in diesel mode, yes their acceleration is very impressive on spark but not used between Newbury & Penzance. Anyway there you go see ya I’m off to Switzerland next month for a 1912 spark on the Rhb
Will be amazing considering i live pretty much on a metro line
ripoff 777
you should reas the pinned
They're part of the same family from Stadler.
Nope just apart of the same family of trains
They're not as good or expensive as Merseyrail 777 metro version.
Can you see out of the front?
no you cant unfortunately. But as a result they do have much bigger cabs wich will be great for the driver.
I guess its a good thing but looking from a passenger perspective i don't like it@@ewanhetting
It was always a scramble to get the front seat on an empty train, or the rear seat. I used to love it as a kid, seeing the tunnels looming ahead, and then suddenly being plunged into darkness. It was literally like riding a rollercoaster, until the novelty wore off after a few years. We'd only ever had buses before the metro arrived, and BR Trains. But a ride on a BR train was a rare occurrence, because of the limited number of stops.
That's me I'm right now 10, I love the metro and I love sitting in the front and listening to the destination thingy. Will the same AI do the stations?
@@Maan_CoolboyI believe it's not actually AI, more like pre-recordings set to play at certain times.
(please pin) The 555s and 777s are made by the same company Stadler, so stop saying they stole everything because you cant steal from yourself, and companies cant steal from their own company either
I got to admit love the new 555's the only criticism I would make is that they should have had a mixture of linear and airline seats as what is on the class 345 Elizabeth line trains but definitely a smart looking train
@@pj6641 agreed, the airline seats on the 994s are rlly good when with friends and theres 3 of us
You lost me at “please pin”
I totally agree with you. Well said.
Exactly
Copy cat that's same as our 777s trains that we have in Southport.
they're the same family what else would you expect.
What do you expect, made by same company (i thunk stadler but im nit sure)
It's from the same family of METRO trains by Stadler
Copying their own design? Okay then...
Imagine if Stadler were to manufacture more METRO and FLIRT rolling stocks then would we complain how horrible they look. To be honest Stadler are the best train manufacturer in Europe and they manufacture the best rolling stocks not just in Europe but in other countries including North America, Africa, Asia and Australia.
It's similar to merseyrail
Same family of trains
sound like Azuma doors opening sound!
This is annoying, how many times does a new train have be graffitied?!
That’s a fantastic capture here, btw how they attach the metrocars to the class 555, as the coupler is different
An excellent bit of work, Omar. I see they're going with a different coupling mechanism. Interesting. Wonder if they still have to retract the blocks on the new ones ? I would have thought they'd of had a set in front and one behind to take the new metro to depot, not two sets in front
Cheers, Phil. There was no room to have the current ones on either side of the new one.
Brilliant capture well done, that graffiti pains me. We rarely see a metro in such a state, first time we see the new one and it looks like that...shocking.
Agreed. The braindead scum that do it are NEVER arrested and punished. They aren't just peabrains in their mid teens either. Ive seen then in their 30s and 40s still doing it during my time on rail. The giveaway is the smell that somewhere one of these turds is spraying. They should be made to pay for the entire cleaning PLUS a fine
Many thanks!
My country's gonna be like: "That's why you shuoldn't have repealed corporal punishment/caning/whipping"
@@lzh4950will that be the same country where your not allowed to criticise the government or officials publicly?
@@nigelhorsley7395 I've seen some critics get sued, or the gov't will demand a public apology & monetary compensation, & the gov't will say they're excercising their constitutional right to clear their name, while I've seen their supporters accuse gov't critics of being ungrateful or sowing division in society, & thus the supporters have called for critics to be jailed. Or the gov't will find a part of your criticism that's fake news & invoke a new law to legally compel you to declare as such, or they might find that you are being influenced by foreigners
Was the 555 operating on battery?
Yes it was powered up using it's battery
HST delivering Metro Units. Quite ironic really
A shame that the new units are covered in graffiti already.
Brand new but defaced already a shame
@@michaelcampin1464 They were graffitied when they were stored at Wembley yard the second metro unit 555004 arrived at South Gosforth pristine graffiti has since been removed from 555003 these units also have battery back up incase of OHLE failure non electrified lines. The reason for the long metro cars is all to do with brakeforce which this will happen until proper testing begins on metro Network and Network Rail (Sunderland Line)
@@pj6641 Doesn't Wembley yard have any security? Apparently not.
@@MervynPartin Seems like they don’t then again we don’t know how long they were stabled there, but graffiti scumbags strike really quick
@@pj6641 If that happened in my country there'd be a full-blown criminal investigation into any security lapses at that yard/depot, with the thinking being like: "If vandals could get up so close to the rolling stock what if they'd tampered the brakes also?"
Already
yeah
