I still think World at War is the best game the series has produced due to it's grittiness, and I believe for the standards of a Call of Duty game it overall captured how war feels and how horrifying war is, it felt a lot more grounded to realism than the other games. For example the first thing you see when you start the first mission is that you've been taken prisoner by the Japanese and you see a fellow POW being burned by an officers cigar and then being subsequently killed by the officer with a katana if I remember correctly. Then when you actually start playing they don't turn down the violence a bit, if a fellow soldier gets hit by a mortar or grenade you will see his arms or legs fly off his body, or when you encounter a banzai charge if you're not careful the soldier will bayonet you to death and it is definitely not pleasant to watch, in two levels you have a flamethrower equipped and those were some of the most graphic kills in the series as you watch your enemy scream in pain and terror and you watch as they struggle to put it out as they slowly fade away.
The Russian campaign begins with you lying down and hiding among numerous dead bodies in this fountain in Stalingrad while a nazi patrol is passing through checking for survivors, later in the campaign you will have to make the decision to whether to kill or spare nazi soldiers who had willingly surrendered and if you choose to execute them the game will not paint you in the best light later on.
In conclusion I think WaW is the best of the series due to it not painting war as a fun time for all but rather it paints it for what it really is, a brutal hellscape in which many many valiant and heroic men died for.

I play zombies since WAW, and I still play all maps from WAW and BO1. Ive spend hundreds of ours playing COD zombies and yes, It is pretty much silly indeed.

AW was Halo-Reach with AK12's and mecha hitler power armor, so as a Bungie era halo fan AW it was a good game in my opinion, even if it didn't fit the "standard cod format."

Great video guys! So much in depth of the whole franchise.
There wasn't any zombies campaign in BO2. There were easter eggs that added a little bit to the zombies lore but not a full on zombies storyline that was playable or had anything shoved in your face. It was still the same old good zombies mode but if you wanted to dig a little deeper, it was there for you to explore.

Andrew Li Have you ever read the actual Zombies storyline on the wiki though? There's a MASSIVE amount of lore hidden in the game mode. Think of it sort of like Destiny's Grimoire, it's hard to find any story in the game, but when you read up about it you'll be amazed at what they made.
Andre Li was partially right, however Origins started a campaign which ran through BO3 -so it was 50:50 - BO2 didn't fully have a campaign, but DLC 4 introduced a campaign which would continue throughout BO3
Andrew Li zombies had a fair amount of story even in BO1 days but in BO2 and BO3 it exploded. If u even want to slightly grasp the storyline now, you have to watch 2 hour story explanations and hours upon hours of Easter egg runs and story videos. I watch and follow everything zombies since DLC 1 of Black Ops 3 and have put countless hours a day since into videos and playing the game and still learn tons of new stuff everyday. Zombies is definitely the most complex thing I've played and I play lots of games.

I remember playing Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Breakthrough Demo on multiplayer for months cus I couldn't afford to buy the game. Good old times.

Cod4 will always be my favorite . So many hours /days online. I can still remember every map.
you missed several crucial things, going in chronological order they are:
1) in mw2, they also added a modular kill streak system that allowed you to pick any 3 kill streaks you wanted.
2) in bo1, they experimented with in game currency that was earned with the formula: xp earned / 10 = money earned
3) in aw (or bo2, dont exactly remember), they added killstreak customization
4) in aw they added supply drops, as well as payed supply drops that have been featured ever since and are a key point of MASSIVE controversy, they also added weapons that have changed stats as well as supply drop only weapons that cant be obtained outside of supply drops
5) in iw they made it so season pass owners get weapons immediately, and those who dont have it can earn the weapons through a challenge.
Treyarch zombies is way deeper then a lot of people think, it, by far, has more story then any other call of duty campaign, yes that's right, and I specifically say Treyarch Zombies because they have the main story. A story the zombie players love. People under estimate the game mode but the community and the fan base was so big for zombies that Treyarch made a 5th dlc, that had NEVER happened before, to give you perspective on how big this dlc is, Treyarch makes 1 zombies map each dlc, they made 8 MAPS and now bo3 is the most selling cod game EVER
I only bought Black Ops 3 for Zombies. That's what got me into the series. I.W's Zombies in Space land was ok but nothing like Treyarch's Zombies.
You're right about the depth that's in the story and the Zombies Chronicles expansion was amazing cuz I never got to play any of the older maps. I wanna play a round of Zombies now! :D

I like cod a bit too much, I play them all even if parts of them are completely awful.
My favorite COD is the one pretty much nobody played. COD Big Red One. It actually has very memorable characters and a campaign that wasn't over the top like a Michael Bay movie.

don't forget that aw updated the scorestreak system and added supply drops; black ops 3 updated the movement system, added the nightmare and freerun mode, and created the specialist system; and iw added fully mobile VTOL combat and side missions in the campaign, and added hybrid weapons and energy weapons.

call of duty 3 (ps2) was the first one I played back when I was a kid and its my fav one of all time
mw1, mw2, mw3 are my childhood favourite. i played them for years and the campaign was awsome, the best campaign ever imo. and i have alote of good memories on these games. like coming from school and playing with my friends. the memories give me shivers down my spine

I stopped playing CoD at MW 3. I played it for maybe 2 hours and have never played one since. Which saddens me.... part 1, MW 1 and MW 2 were HUGE games for me.

I played the first level (France, I think) of the very first Call of Duty a dozen times. It was just too epic for my little teenie weenie brain to process. Hiding behind dead cows under heavy fire from a MG42, my comrades next to me pushing forward and planes in the sky dropping bombs - I loved it.
Cod 2 is the best in the franchise. Scaling the mountain on the beach level or fighting it out while artillery is falling around you waiting for reinforcements actually had me on edge and seeing help was so great.
Followed by World at War and united offensive are the top 3 Cod games

I loved CoD Classic when i found it from my computer like about 6 years ago. My dad played it and we found the disc and i played it almost everyday cuz it was amazing. i rly wanna play it more but i dont have that computer anymore.
Call of duty 2 was the best for me, not because they did it better, but bc I played it a lot growing up and seeing the gameplay, brings me back to the old days.
Zombies are currently the only thing which makes Cod worth buying.

COD 1 still means a lot to me, it was the first video game I ever played I also liked the story of the modern warfare series, but I do think that the world war 2 settings are the best, I also like the medal of honor series, I'm playing pacific assault right now, such a great game.
Finally! Our Lord Falcon acknowledges Call Of Duty 3 and its multiplayer so the masses can understand how cool that game actually was. Those multiplayer maps tho, the MAPS!

People always say that Black Ops 2 was the first Call of Duty game based in the future, but Modern Warfare 2 which was made in 2009 was based in 2016 and Modern Warfare 3 which was made in 2011 was based in 2018.

Am I the only person who likes regenerating health? I think it makes games move faster and have more flow vs the slower more inventory management style of health packs/potions. If your health goes down in non regenerating health, and you don't have anything to restore health, it can cause the action to come to a grinding halt or get you stuck in a certain level

I stopped playing CoD, ever since it turned Sci-Fi. It got me back into Battlefield! Haven't played the WWII yet. Wanna do that at some point though.

Zombies used to be serious and simple. WAW is still my favorite version of Nazi zombies ever produced.
Now the original dread and threat of COD's zombie gamemode is dashed by Exosuit jumping bullshit and reject guns that look like weapons from HALO 5.
The difficulty used to be managing hordes of formidable but killable undead nazis, now it's nerfed damaged weapons against zombies that do entirely too much melee damage, to compensate for the addition of gimmicky Future-COD mechanics like wall-running and exo jumps.
Nazi-Zombies *used* to be serious.
You drink sodas and eat bubblegum to get certain power ups and that isn't silly? And this is coming from a guy who played during WaW.
My favorite call of duty is call of duty 3 because that was the first fps game I ever played and it was simply amazing. I actually cried watching the beginning of this video because it brought back so many memories

you could easily do a evolution of Call of duty zombies (treyarch) on its own. it is amazing and has evolved drastically from a mini game to a very complicated and important part of the franchise

I am still playing World At War and isstill amazing. the last "new" one I played was MW2 and although it's amazing, I prefer the odd feeling of WWII, being alone in a swamp/house/forest, holding onto your bolt action rifle, and thinking that if you miss the shoot, someone will see you and kill you. Also the multiplayer with only 3 kind of rewards for killstreak made people more focused on moving around and getting kills. than just camping to get their 20 something kill streak.
World at War is my favorite CoD of all time. I can still play that game to this day and enjoy it more than any other CoD. As long as there aren't too many hackers ruining the experience, of course. World at War was dark, gritty and brutal. I loved the setting, the guns, more simple kill streaks compared to more modern CoD games, etc. And it was the first to have Nazi Zombies, which was so amazing back when it was fresh and new. World at War got me back into FPS games. I really hope Treyarch comes out with a World at War 2 next year, and releases a World at War remaster for current generation, like how Infinity Ward released the Modern Warfare remaster.

Artush It is significantly cheaper as the 3DS XL as it has no 3D function, which nobody I know actually use. It also looks much nicer. But hey, we are all entitled to our own opinions.
