Witchfire is an incredible looking FPS Roguelike that borrows from Dark Souls and other punishing games to create something utterly unique... #witchfire #steam
Honestly the fact that Witchfire was created as a single player experience purposefully is one of it's strengths. There are plenty of PvP or PvE coop games out there, so it was nice to find a game that included some of the better PvP extraction mechanics in a solo game.
@@benpoke If you mean coop games that had single player slapped on, that exists as well. I'm talking about the majority of games marketed as coop games.
The devs wrote in blogs years ago about how much the gameplay of Destiny had influenced them-even to the extent that they were actively trying to replicate how some elements of it felt.
Especially wild if you give a thought to how many more cool games we could have gotten if some didn't decide to go exclusive, which in many cases didn't bring them the sales/revenue they expected.
A big factor in this was players immediately turning it down when they heard about it being Epic exclusive on EA launch But there definitely was a bit of marketing at that time
Thank you for talking about this game LevelCap! I’ve been playing it since day one and the progress on it has been amazing so far. There’s already a lot of content, the gameplay loop is amazing and unique, and the visuals are so good. Definitely one of my GOTY last year and there’s still so much to come. I’m highly recommending it to anyone reading this comment!
I bought this game on a whim as it was 10% off and looked neat, and by the time I got to Scarlette Coast and saw the kind of enemies the game really had to offer I was blown away by the fact I had never heard of this game before. It was like finding a Diamond amidst the rubble.
I feel like this game was a missed opportunity to see really unique steam punk like guns that actually existed like the Duck foot pistol, harmonica gun, flint lock revolvers, the lantern shield and more.
I picked this game up a day or two after it dropped on steam and I've had a blast playing it! It doesn't stray from being a challenge while still giving you the option to take the easier route. The bosses are HARD considering you have to work up to them and resources are scarce on the map. I really am looking forward to the future of this game.
I was super excited until I learned about the procedural elements. Why can't game devs just design envounters? I can't be the only one who can feel the difference in combat encounters between rougelight/rougelike games and actual intentionally designed levels and enemies.
I’m not someone who thinks every game needs co-op. In fact I usually prefer single player experiences. This game needs co-op. It seems like the perfect candidate for it. Co-op would take this game from a fun game to a must play. Imagine Elden ring mechanics where if you and another player are playing together, a 3rd player could “invade” your world and hunt you down, maybe with a timer of 5 minutes or something until they return to their own game.
I'm about 12 hours in and I just can't seem to put the game down. I remember when it first got announced with a short teaser trailer that feels like it was half a decade ago at least and then hearing nothing about the game for years. Then I got excited when it was announced to be going into early access and be playable soon, but when I saw the Epic exclusivity, I knew I was going to have to wait another year or so before getting it. Thankfully the game has been well worth the wait so far, and I look forward to seeing what all they add to it over the next year of updates.
Wow, so I never heard of this game before and since it released as early access on steam it popped up on my page and the second I saw the trailer and screen shots I was so excited to try it. I threw away pretty much my entire weekend on this game, it’s such a fun and addicting game. It feels like the game picked my favorite aspects and mechanics of so many games and threw it all together, the atmosphere especially is just beautiful. If you’re on the fence I’d really recommend it, it would probably be worth it to just wait til the official release but I’m having so much fun and don’t regret buying it.
I think Coop would need specific zones or even a horde mode, I think gating really strong prophecies or any of the relics, fetishes and rings behind later tier waves or something would be the play
Looks really cool. I never heard of it until recently. The whole companion thing has me thinking the souls community will be in saying "you didn't play it right if you used a companion"
Guys, friendly reminder, there is a Stake Gun in the game. Anybody remembers Painkiller? Yeah, that stake gun. And if you upgrade the weapon it also burn enemies and causes lightning to proc if you him them in the head. It's awesome. It's the Stake Gun(*2).
just bought it & ive had my eyes on it for the past year. LOVE IT! so excited to see what else comes to this game. Especially seeing as the devs come from Painkiller & Bulletstorm
The art Direction on this game looks amazing. I think once it gets its full amount of real content theyre gonna have a serious contender here. I'll probably wait tho
Picked this up the other day and I absolutely love it. I usually avoid Early Access games - It's obviously unfinished - but I just couldn't wait for the end product, it looked so good. Still can't, actually.
It looks fairly different from Remnant 2, but also like.. FPS Randomized Soulslike is exactly the genre I'm looking for to continue to after I'm done w/ Remnant 2's final DLC. Yes, Remnant 2 isn't a roguelike (unless you exclusively play Hardcore I suppose), but it has the randomness of roguelikes that I love. Definitely putting this on my wishlist, it looks really cool!
Steam recommended me this after I starting a new DS3 run and I was torn on getting it or if it was just a gimmick. I think, after seeing this, I need it in my life right the hell now
I love this game, it's just so unique! But god damn, it's super hard if you aren't used to it. It's definitely more slow and tactical, not mindless run-and-gun.
Perhaps a coop specific mode. You enter your single player areas with a portal, so maybe entering a coop hub and do coop specific type missions in the future
This game has an amazing aesthetic and looks great. Art team should be proud. I'm just not into shooters, so I'll probably skip this. But if this was 3rd person and more fantasy hack n' slash, I'd be all over it.
May pick this up once it gets a decent discount, if it was coop I'd grab it at the current price but with it just being solo it is contending against games it simply can't contend with. At least for me.
Game is solid. But i wish they drop "lol, we spawned enemies behind you" as a tool to increase difficulty. It's FPS unlike other souls-like. Event Remnant is TPS.
You can very easily avoid the spawning enemies behind you if you snipe a couple enemies near the edge of the fight zone, then when the to earthquake happens you immediately sprint further away from the zone.
Yea I didnt notice really the Destiny 2 Gameplay until the handcannon clip and wow that is waaaaaaaaay too close to destiny 2 and now that I see everything else yea it just looks like Destiny 2 gunplay..
@@TheThugzman for some games I do the same. Love "Hades" but I'm not buying "Hades 2" until it's finished - Hades 1 was so damn polished and finished when they released it from EA it was truly refreshing. Therefor I'm stoked devs actually use EA to get a fully running and polished game
I agree somewhat and some of these games can leave you wanting... and waiting.. on the same hand these are smaller teams fighting AAA studios releasing trash like D4 and Concord for 40-60$ also. D4 has been polished some from what I hear now, but on release for a studio of that magnitude it had many issues and lacked quality of life stuff.
Commenting before watching but will still watch to see what you say but. Game looks sick but my only problem is that its 40$ => 35$ on sale right now but theres just not enough right now for it to warrant that. Next year when they do the full release hopefully, and have a fully fleshed out game, that shit will probably be worth 40$, on top of that there will probably be a better sale on it too..
If your goal is to get better at comp fps you really just gotta play the fps ur into and maybe an aim trainer. If you only just got ahold of m&kb then this game will be better for you than remnant as its actually an fps. No pve game will really prepare you for human players though.
@@beginanewt oh I just mean as an alternative to comp fps not as like a tool to get better but just something else to play that’s not so competitive but is still a little aim heavy so it’s not like your just getting overly rusty by playing it like if I were just to play Elden ring or something

Looks like Tiny Tinas Wonderlands, especially the weapons and spell animation. TTW was such a letdown for me after BL3 because of the low weapon variety. Will be cautious about this one.
Main reason for the comparison is the stamina bar and dropping ‘souls’ on death that you can go pickup again. It does feel very similar to Destiny (the weapons especially feel like exotics) but it plays a bit slower/more methodical like a Dark souls or a Hunt:Showdown
