They're lack of "calling" is truly our loss! This man is an amazing talent. Someone like him comes once in a lifetime. He's super talented in so many areas its baffling!! At the same time....a gift to the world! What I would do for 1 of his paintings! I have lost my only child 10 yrs ago today. I would give ANYTHING AT ALL to have him paint my sons picture with angels wings behind him somewhere. Imagine me being able to not only afford that, but be able to even ask him!! Actually, that’s not what happened. Johnny didn’t “speak out about Hollywood boycott,” he was asked a question on the subject by an unprofessional reporter from Variety. Mr. Depp, answered the question saying, “Do I feel boycotted now? No,not at all.”

The circus is over and the press needs to raise up its discourse to important issues like Climate Crisis, World Peace, and the like.

What a lot of people don't seem to understand is that Depp has never been a "movie star" in the way some seem to imagine. He's not one of those actors who plays the game, who kisses behinds, who does whatever script lands in his lap. Go back through his work and really LOOK at it. This isn't stuff Chris Pratt does, it's not stuff an agent gets for their client after schmoozing with an exec, they're not roles he agrees to do to pay the bills. Depp isn't the kind of "star" who ever needed paparazzi, or drama, or headlines. He was part of a very special breed which includes River Phoenix, Christian Slater, Keanu, Minnie Driver, Winona Ryder... This collection of artists from that era are just built different, they don't think like other actors think. You don't "cancel" an artist like that, because he's built his career on his own terms. He doesn't need this entity called "Hollywood" to continue to create art, because it's always been what he was drawn to regardless of an "industry" that hijacks it. Depp is the kind of actor who just wants to play interesting characters in interesting stories. He can go from playing a Disney pirate in a multi-million $ movie to playing a random character in a no-budget indy film the next week, just because he wants the adventure.
He's an artist before anything else. You can see that in his discomfort when he's being interviewed.
I'm so glad he's doing well. I wish there were more real artists like him.
