I rarely sit through these videos, but can I just say that this woman is a fantastic teacher
💖💖
That is so true ✌
Agreed
I enjoyed your video, during covid-I found that I lost my creativity and today is the day and beginning of a renewal of the arts. Many thanks and blessings to you.
Yay!!! You got this
For teaching a handicapped student - I've used a method to take a very wide damp brush and load the brush with three or more colors. For example to create a blended sky: On the pallet, dobble blue, white, pink, yellow - run the brush across all the "blobs' at one time to pick up all the pigments. With the blue aimed at the top of the painting brush horizontally back and forth until all 3 - 4 colors are laid on the canvas - the back an forth motion blends them. this was very effective because all the paints were wet at the same time and rewarding to the student.
You are a wonderful teacher especially for us beginners. Your camera person is the BEST. Right place at the right time.
I have spent 9 hours, NINE HOURS ( 4am-1:20pm) searching for a video on blending and such. Every SINGLE VIDEO I watched was either " blending is so overrated", " ditch the blending and learn to overlap" and so on. Every single video I watched either had something negative to say about blending or completely irrelevant but was labeled as "blending acrylic paints" When I came to your video, I was literally about to give up. I watched the first couple of minutes of it and I was on the edge of my seat!
I don't paint. I have very little experience in the painting stuff unless it's color/paint by number or the random "touchup" to my door frames and even those are sad to look at.
Your video helped me so much and now, I am finding things in my house to paint. Thank you so much! You earned my "like" a million times and more and you have a new subscriber! You're Awesome!! Please make more videos like this!!
This comment made my day today. I work so hard to make art videos that make painting with acrylics just a little bit easier for new artists. I want to say thank you for hanging in until you found what you needed. I am kinda known for really long Live streaming free art classes BUT I know not everyone has time for that and there are two playlists to follow the Sherpa Short and Start Here. You can always catch a live stream and ask me questions in real time too. The start here playlist is that crazy stuff beginners need to know but nobody tells them. I will include links for both First the sherpa short classes - ruclips.net/p/PLXUkNk1HRolHCeBDb47qeHMzzuqKXIVs4 And START HERE : ruclips.net/p/PLXUkNk1HRolGbagACdjVplH9z2JxEgTcQ
@@TheArtSherpa haha. Girl, I’m Still watching you. I found your webpage and have been studying it more than I am for my fall semester class. I’m determined to paint now because of your positive influence and motivation. I’m excited! I will definitely be watching for the live videos. The longer they are, the more I learn. Thank you!!!
Thank you very much for this beginner video. It really helps me a while using these techniques. I just started to pursue this passion again even if I am 58 years old already, since I couldn't do it before because of my tight work schedule. Keep going. Love it ❤ 🥰
I love you necklace and shirts. Very cool. Thanks for all you do. I love your tuteledges.
Thank you so so much
Hi Theartsherpa you are one of my favorite teachers. I am also a new painter and is 64 years old. Love every thing you have showed today. Love your work. Thanks for your time.
I love the moon one as you helped me to understand how to make it easy on myself. T.y.
I LOVE your videos. Wholeheartedly agree with the comment below - YOU ARE A FAB TEACHER!!
Thank you!
The glazing method has my brain upside down! Thank you for making these videos so beginner friendly and fun. xo
I’ve painted most of my life, but I still find that your beginner videos are incredibly helpful. Never had an art class but your videos seem like they’re probably better! Thank you!
Thank you, I’m new and I’m so glad I have found you 🥰
Thank you so much!!!
I am a beginner to art, at age 67...
My mom began at age 40...
I have friends who are artists who have encouraged me to just have fun.
So I began taking acrylic art classes a couple of years ago.
My first teacher was acryllic impressionism... and it set me free from the idea that painting had to be perfect!
Thank you for sharing your painting techniques, they help me tremendously!
Art is to be enjoyable, an experience to be enjoyed.
YES so much so. 🌼🌼
Don't feel bad Margaret, I'm 69 and a beginner. Where are you taking painting classes at? I wish there were more offered here in Iowa.
@@janejohnson5488 you guys are so lucky you grew up in the 70s im only 17 but rather live in the 70s
I'm 27! And I would love to start as well! Xx

Hi. I just wanted to say. On my journey of discovering myself. You have helped me sooooooo much. Thank you
Very good blending tutorial, nicely organized. Just beginning here at age 70. Many thanks.
Thank you so much! I am just beginning acrylic painting.
Good luck!
I have taken many art classes over the years. You are so good with clear, detailed instructions , enthusiasm and encouragement ☺️ so glad I found you!
You are gorgeous no so is your shading n blending. Thank you.
Thank you!
Brilliant video.❤️ (I’m alone , in my studio, having veggie soup.......watching you dear Sherpa. I was really focused on your blending demo. When My late husband said ‘You’re watching paint dry’. My imagination? Probably, sure, have to smile, he was always so witty. thank you for the tutorial and you’re great company. Smiles
You sure it wasn't Jesus talking to you? Out of the blue, gone in a flash, but you heard every word of it? Definitely Jesus.
Definitely your late husband. How cute. 💙🙏🏼

Typical Christian BS. Get over your self!
Definitely hubby! ❤
@@christinebaker7051 Typical! Jesus couldn't give a flying rats if she was watching paint dry!
Love your blending techniques - Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication!!
💕💕
Well stated. I'm so ready to get started now! I just found this channel and she is awesome!
Wow, what a great video! I’ve learned more about how to blend acrylics in this one video than I have in watching tons of other videos! You’re such a great teacher, thank you 🥰🥰🥰
At first I wasn't sure if I want to watch a 31-minute video! Now here I am, happy I learned something useful! Thanks for such an incredible video! I liked the two-brush technique the most. Maybe I should sacrifice one of my cosmetic brushes for the sake of acrylic fading! 😁
So glad it was helpful💖
Thinking exactly the same thing 😅
Nothing has been as helpful as this!!! I’ve designed greeting cards for years & am so excited to use your tools here! Thank you!!
After watching this tutorial yesterday, I was able to utilize these skills, to create a sunset over the peace bridge in buffalo NY. Best work yet, took me 5 hours, 6-7 layers on copy paper. Thank you for the insight!
Yay!!
My jaw dropped after the dry brush blend method. That took it from a very nice gradient to full blown sunset! Thank you for showing so many tips, as well, I have always struggled with teachers showing only one method of getting to a desired result and it really helps me to learn as many ways to achieve something as possible because everyone is different thus everyone learns best differently! ❤
Edit!: now you're letting us know how to improve a more realistic sunset. You're wonderful for sharing all of this! Thank you so much!
Love the glaze effects!
Hey Mrs.Cinnamon I am a beginner and would love a vid explaining the different brushes their strengths and weaknesses and some of the best brushes for beginners.
Thank you and have a blessed Day/Night
Great idea
Very helpful. Thank you very much for sharing your techniques. Generous of you.
Glad it was helpful! 🌺
Awesome, I'm actually taking a BEGINNER art class and the instructor said to do a wash of color for the background. Of course everyone painted their background... she didn't say what a wash was! Then she told me to blend my sky, but didn't tell me how.. grrr, thank you so much for this! The blending techniques, the half step of color, and of course wiping your brush, I kept adding paint and made a mess of blob on my brush! Will never forget this lesson!
Glad this helped. 🖤🖤
Thank you so much. You explain things so well. I am new to acrylics as I have always painted in oils. The problem with blending is exactly what I have experienced. This explains very plainly. Thanks for making this video.
Awesome!
YOU ARE AWSOME!!! I started painting about 3 months ago and not tooting my own horn, I am surprised at how good I am...my MAJOR problem...BLENDING. My teacher hasn't offered any help in this area, and as a consequence, my work is very stark as opposed to soft. You have just answered a major part of my problem!!!
Happy i could help!
What an incredibly helpful video!! This woman is such a good teacher! Keeping simple, and I love it! Thank you so much for sharing, and narrowing down the process and products that you have had success with! I only just discovered you, so I am excited to see what other videos you have made!!
Thank you so much. That was so informative! I loved it and learned so much! God bless you!
Hello. Thank you. I am a beginner in acrylic painting and your video is really priceless.
You are asbsolutely welcome 💗
Excellent technique video that addresses the fact that everyones environment is different and blending without water is nearly impossible for some of us. I really love the night sky blending technique and the sponged-blended background. Fantastic video Cinnamon!
Started a sunrise painting and quickly ended in an epic blending fail. I AM SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR VIDEO!! Back to it with your brilliant tips! THANK YOU!
You are so very welcome 💞
I've just realized that I was doing everything right, BUT I wasn't cleaning off the brush so often... :)
That is cool you found your road bump and can now clear it. Happy blending
Thanks..to..share..such..a..useful..TIPS..THANKS
I’ve only just come across your Videos. I definitely enjoyed your blending technique. I shall give this ago first thing in morning. I also love the colour Blue in your hair.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion.🙏
Awesome! Thank you!💟
THAT WAS GREAT..I NEEDED THAT A LOT..TY CINNAMON FOR HELPING US
Your tutorials are very good, thanks for sharing n teaching
💞💞
As Always , you just make it so simply. You are a wonderful teacher, thank you for sharing this wonderful techniques with us.
Very helpful and clear! Great teaching. Thanks.
I've only recently started learning to paint with oils. But I've been watching a ton of short acrylic speed paint videos. I always kept thinking to myself that I wouldn't want to paint with acrylics because it looked like the blending process was a pain. This video makes me want to give acrylics a try even more. Because I get frustrated when painting with oils how sometimes I just want to easily paint over a surface but have difficulty getting crisp or fine lines working on top of wet paint. Thanks for the video!
Those nails are gorgeous!
😍😍
Wow. You're really good at explaining the minutiae! That's exactly what I needed. You're the best!!
Thank you so much for your valuable and useful videos
Happy to help
Love the round blending night sky wow!
I like the effect of the third method !
Thanks, hope it was all helpful 💝
Thanks for the tips teacher
I’ve got to admit I’m cheep lol. I like glaze for its ability to add depth to water. But other then that just dry brushing works best for me. I like that I can very softly and slowly add depth or highlights in anything by dry brushing.
Thank you SOOO much! I have been really struggling with this.
Happy to help!
This is precisely what I needed to watch today. Thank you for the variety of blending methods and suggestions. Truly helpful. You rock!
just started with acryllics and im happy i found this video :)
Foilikz Swegger Thank you I am so glad you had Fun :)
Thank you, this is so encouraging...I desperately want to learn but I am so nervous about not making my work look appealing that I don't even start...I now realize that it is also about enjoying the process and discovering what I can do...creating an impression of a mental image can be fun :-)
This may be something others already know,
but I just noticed in the video description area
where it lists the timestamp of each technique discussed.
Very helpful book marks to get to a specific blending method.
thanks Cinnamon. of course I have seen all these blending methods over the last couple years but having them all together like this is so helpful and makes it so much easier to be able to decide on which method to use for any particular painting
Ugh these look sooo good!!! I love the colors you used.
Thank you! 🧡
These techniques helped me so much! I was struggling with blending and you helped me a lot! Thank youuu
You are most welcome.🌻🌻
Excellent tuition and tips. I have just learned what I really need to know for a large composition I am about to start, thank you!!
Glad it was helpful and you are most welcome 🌷
Thanks Cinnamon! Glazing is my favorite way to blend. When I first used that product , I thought it was a miracle in a bottle. I love it!
What a really great vid.....TYVM!.....One of the best I've seen.
Cinnamon thank you for the different blending methods this was very interesting because I have trouble blending
you're incredible the way you present it.
🧡🧡
Random, buI have that exact same shark bowl. Love it. thanks, Cinnamon, I learned a lot from this video!
You really are a fantastic teacher. A lesson of this quality can help bolster the confidence of beginners across the globe. Thank you
Wow, thank you!
I enjoyed this. Good tips. Thank you. The sponge blending is my favorite. You can get a neat effect for a background by putting a three or four different colors just on the edges of a slightly damp sponge and then swirling. It works best if the colors are not touching each other for the first use. After that it doesn't matter that much. I've done a couple backgrounds that way.
thanks...just learning and leaving a lot of brush marks...
That shark brush water cup is soo cute
Cinnamon you have just made my day , I have truly missed seeing you and John so a big Thankyou for this presentation ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍
Even her hair is beautifully blended... she’s legit legit! Thank you for the much needed helpful tips!!! :)
💖💖
Thank you, this was so so helpful! Especially the 2 brush technique.
Thank you so much. This video is so helpful. I have decided to have a go with acrylics this year after spending a couple of years learning about watercolour.
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Cinnamon, this is wonderful not only for beginners but for seasoned artists who need a refresher on blending! I am wondering what you think about using soft makeup brushes for blending?
Brilliant I like the sponge method great video ❤
Thanks for this! I needed this. Will watch it more than once.
Totally excellent instruction for blending!!!!!
Glad it was helpful!🤎
The sun and the sponge ones I am going to try this week, I've got a moon to paint.
Loved it all especially the sponge thank you
Great ideas on blending! That's so helpful for so many people!
I was really searching for a method to bkend my acrylics and any methods i saw was requiring a specific products but her methods seem to be simple and worked great thank you so much for helping us through our painting journey
You’re welcome 😊
Love every tip, that's usually my most frustrating thing, balling up when blending and clagging. Thank you! New Subbie
This is telling me I need many more brushes and thats exciting because I love shopping for art supplies ! This will improve my paintings greatly. Love this channel!
I'm so glad! Thank you 🌼
Thank you I'm gonna use some of these so I can make beautiful paintings to sell at my family store
Update: started one two days ago and finished at like 6:30 yesterday morning gotta work out when I can paint so it doesn't interfere with school
Good luck and much Success to you

Transfixed. Love the detailed tips. Thank you🤩❤️🙏🏼
You are so welcome!
Thanks Sherpa! This is the very thing I'm trying to figure out so I can do a pic based upon Bob Ross' Crimson Tide tutorial. I need a way to put Alizerin red and Phtalo Blue down on black gesso that keeps them blendable so I can make sunset clouds over a beach scene.
Awesome all of it! Wish I’d known this 50 yrs ago, it I’m now heading right to the canvas and give it a go!
Have fun!😍
is there a way to paint over something and do blending if the painting dried and it was not blended correctly?
Yes, just paint over with the original color blend and redo it. That is the beauty of acrylic, you can paint over it and redo.💜💜
Thanks so much for the great explanations! Love your necklace.
💕💕
i never had the courage to start a acrilic paint without medeums...its possible
Yes it is ! 💔💔
Love you, Cinnamon! You are such a positive influence! I often think about your old video on making 100 paintings. It was so spot on. Thank you for shining your light over the world! Good day. :)
🖤🖤🖤
Adding so much water to heavy body paint,
can really, effect the final result!
Adding too much water often makes artist/premium grade paint
look more like craft or student grade paint in the end.
It can look like a paint with varying or uneven pigment load,
or one with a higher amount of filler.
And that’s a shame, after paying top dollar.
Wouldn’t it be better,
to use a soft body acrylic-
if you want the paint to be thinner
(move more easily over the canvas or painting surface)?
I’m thinking heavy body acrylic paint-
is more fitting for impasto work, or where/when
you need the paint to hold shape, be stiffer.
You actually want that lower viscosity.
I’m thinking that if you have to add water, **to get it to move the way you want**,
it’s the wrong paint.
However, if the paint is **drying too fast**, then using a tiny amount of water (or medium) can help.
So adding water regularly to thin =
wrong paint.
(Adding water regularly to cream or
half and half = wrong dairy. It just means what you actually want is whole, 2%, 1%, etc.)
The stiffer heavy body paint definitely has it’s occasions,
but it seems like for a lot of general paintings/usage,
soft body or more fluid forms might work better for many common paintings,
because usually nothing is added to change the consistency (unless for purposefulful effect such as a glaze, etc.),
thus the paint is being used, as designed.
Choosing the best fitting paint in this respect,
could also broaden the choices of brushes to use.
Wiith heavy body paint,
brush choices are (best) limited to
firm, or extra firm.
If you don’t use the firm/firmest brushes w/hb,
then you have to use ..even more water,
making it worse again.
Soft/er brushes can create subtlety different effects,
and allow different degrees of control of the paint;
a different painting experience.
The (most likely) limitation with brushes-that more than half of all brushes
are best not used w/hb paint
seems a shame for those who use it mostly or only.
Maybe especially for beginning artists,
but any artists really.
It’s a limitation that’s probably unnecessary,
in that it doesn’t apply to the other paints.
Would it sometimes,
or even often/generally
(depending on the artist and project)
be better to choose a soft body acrylic,
or even a fluid acrylic in the first place?
If you are not planning to change up techniques where heavy body is nessisary I would think it could be. PS this was a thoroughly thought out and thoughtful comment !! Thank you
I'm thinking you are a show off!! this site is for beginners not 'artists like you who obviously know it all already' some of us are happy to learn the basics. you should have your own RUclips site instead of taking over someone else's......Happy Painting
